    Super 8

Surprised I did not see a review on this one yet inhere so thought I'd post one. I liked the movie a lot but it never truly sucked me in. I did not read any reviews before seeing it but did glance at a couple afterwards and agree with the basic synopsis...Goonies meets ET meets Signs. The movie is quite predictable as a matter of fact there are zero surprises, but early on your are treated to some very funny moments, some incredible acting by the young female lead and a pretty engaging story between the lead characters. After a while though the gags get a tiny bit repetitive and the 'monster' story line actually gets in the way of the real story you want to see develop even more. I give it 3.5 Starmen Go see it...
  2. Bon Scott is one of the greatest rock singers of all time
  3. The live DVD he put out about 5-6 years ago is simple awesome. That guy is a great performer and guitar player.
  4. Greatest Live Album of all time; One More from the Road - Skynyrd! Best Live performance on video Live at the El Mocambo - Stevie Ray Vaughan
  5. I love HYF, one of my fav rush albums. Neil's drumming on the end of LaK is awesome.
  6. QUOTE (Mara @ May 23 2011, 09:17 AM) QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ May 23 2011, 04:45 AM) Number 8: When you pee, then scream, and the next call you make is to the doctor's surgery. I was gonna say - you forgot the sort of burning sensation that only copious doses of antibiotics can ease. The kind that might result from a night with that "young hottie"! Went with acid reflux. Sucks. Though I've had a UTI or two that nearly had me in tears.
  7. QUOTE (In A Tidewater Surge @ May 24 2011, 09:02 PM) Most of it is shit with a bunch of old guys who have nothing better to do than blow on their sax or pound their drums. Nuff said
  8. nice job buddy! there arent any jobs so get yer ass back in school and hit it hard. by the time you get out the economy will be crankking again! Unless the entire world collapses. in that case see jack Aubrey about some survival classes! now go get some tail!
  9. QUOTE (Workaholic Man @ May 28 2011, 09:08 PM) 1. No sugar or caffeine before bedtime.....preferrably long before bedtime. Don't go to bed all revved up on chemical stimulants 2. NO naps during the afternoon: they foul up the sleep cycle 3. Get good physical daily exercise: your tired body will respond with good sleep You know, these options are so basic but so many people ignore the obvious. I have a friend who complains about sleeping problem but he drinks a litre or Mountain Dew EVERY single day. So on top of being amped on sugar and caffeine (4 times as much as coffee) he's getting overweight too! My wife has had back problems, waking up every morning in pain, so we bought a high quality mattress. OMG, we both sleep through the whole night most of the time and wake feeling much better. Tempurpedic! I'm only up now as I'm getting ready to go fishing. Oh, and turn off your TV earlier and read!
  10. thanks for saving me $30!
  11. MArshy, I don't fault you for loggin in to complain. We all have high expectations of the band and want to share that with our loved ones. Then to have below mediocre experience is beyond disappointing. My fellow TRFers jumped on you a little too briskly IMO. There have been many critical threads in here so don't think everyone here is a mindless drooling sycophant. But we loves us some RUSH. I'm sorry you had a bad time with your kids/friends. Just wait for the DVD! It will be awesome!
  12. QUOTE (rushgoober @ May 25 2011, 03:16 AM) jazz is awesome

  14. These are the ones I use for concerts They do a great job of elimating all the upper frequency distortion I experience. Everything comes through real nice. Still loud enough to enjoy!
  15. I just saw POTC:OST. Yes, it does meander, but only a tad. The story is not very strong and some of the events are just beyond ridiculous. But, it does keep you interested. And frankly the above referenced secondary characters were more interesting than the main story (mermaid meets boy) even though it had nothing to add to the plot. A couple twists and turns kept it going though. Overall, I enjoyed it. I'd give it 3.5/5
  16. QUOTE (Tommy Sawyer @ May 21 2011, 06:00 PM) I hope it's as good as some say. I really loved the first three and I want this one to be just as good and funny. The last one was just dreadful and the second was almost as bad. I did enjoy the first quite a bit though. We may be going to an early show today
  17. this texting crap is breeding a generation of seemingly lazy idiots. How hard is it to write a few extra letters Kid, I love the fact you're a RUSH fan, I love the fact you're on this forum, but I have to warn you, your writing style is going to alienate you from a lot of job prospects in the future. Hope you had a great time at the RUSH show.

  22. The OP feels the same way I do, but I havent started a thread over it. I pray every day (figuratively) that these guys keep going. I will literally shed tears the day they hang it up. Just like when Don Shula retired
  23. This is a great peice of equipment!
  24. OK, I'm going to stipulate that I may be wrong about the native resolution on the RIR but for some reason its the worst looking 480p I've ever seen. And just to reiterate, the audio is effing horrible. WHy in the hell would anyone want 5.1 96/24 of that dreck? If they can work magic and fix it, fine. But I would have thought it would have been done on the original.
