  1. QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Jan 11 2012, 09:20 PM) So thanks to all of this hype about the new Van Halen I bought an Eddie Van Halen guitar pick from the "1984" Tour. I was lucky enough to see that tour when I was 16 years old. It was out of this world. Anyway I was emailing the buyer and I asked him if he was excited about the new VH record. He said "absolutely!" He then told me a cool story. He went to high school with Dennis Anthony, Mike's brother. He went over to his mom and dad's house a lot over the years and many of Mike's gold and platinum records are hanging on their walls. Fukkin' sweet! You sure? Mike's surname is Sobolewski. Anyway......Eddie's tone sounds awesome. The more I listen to the new tune, the more I like it! I can see Ed going into Cathedral after Tattoo in concert.
  2. I enjoyed it but I thought the production was too slick on several of the songs.
  3. I just listened to it for the first time. I like it. It's got a cool hook and I like the way it grooves. Wolfie sounds really good on bass, so no complaints there. Catchy lyrics, too. No, it doesn't sound like Fair Warning-era VH, but there's still a whole album's worth of material that we haven't heard yet. Not understanding the hate and I do realize that musical tastes vary wildly and are subjective. I'm on board. Can't wait to buy this album and crank the f**k out of it!!!
  4. "You will get nothing and like it!" Actually, you already got Caravan and BU2B.
  5. QUOTE (ReRushed @ Jan 9 2012, 09:49 AM) QUOTE (Xanadoood @ Jan 9 2012, 11:43 AM) QUOTE (metaldad @ Jan 9 2012, 10:44 AM) What i don't understand is , they made us wait all these F-n years and the d.v.d they give us is Acoustic versions of songs ? Not something people would want to see , like a film about the Recording ? Lame Or maybe some vintage Live stuff. I can't believe they're not going to perform a private concert in my backyard! Dude....all you've got to do is save Brooke Shields from drowning and you're in!!!
  6. Here are a few more videos from Club Wa? The sound quality sucks due to them being filmed/recorded with a smart phone, but the band sounds tight. Everybody Wants Some, She's the Woman and Dance the Night Away are featured in the first video. LINKY
  7. I thought that was a joke! Kool and the Gang is the actual opener? There's a party goin' on right here.....

  9. Count me in with the crowd that thought 5 S&A songs in a row to open the second set was excessive. On the Power Windows tour they played the entire album (except for Emotion Detector) but mixed it with "the classics." I liked that much more.
  10. Any tour news? I haven't seen any dates yet. I've heard that the new single is called "Tattoo."
  11. The first music I heard in 2012 was a YouTube video of Ace Frehley performing "Shock Me."
  12. Happy Birthday, dude!!! I shipped your walker yesterday. I sent it UPS, should be on your doorstep when you get home.
  13. QUOTE (Unattractive Truth @ Jan 1 2012, 02:30 PM) My God Son, Max. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/RamsATW/photo-1.jpg As his Godfather, it's my responsibility to make sure he's being raised right, so I bought him this onesie. I think we're off to a good start. Pure awesomeness!! Cute little bugger, too!
  14. QUOTE (Unattractive Truth @ Dec 31 2011, 08:34 AM) QUOTE (Perchance to Dream @ Dec 30 2011, 05:36 PM) This is awesome news! The last VH concert I went to when DLR was still in the band was during the 1984 tour. I've still got my tour shirt somewhere around here. Eagle on the front and a man in a top hat holding a hammer behind his back on the back. Bring it!! Dear Eight Pound, Six Ounce, Newborn Baby Jesus. Don't even know a word yet, just a little infant, so cuddly, but still omnipotent. Please, please let this album not be crap. Let it Rock massively and goodly. Let it not be the work of desperate, washed up men. The world could use some Van Halen goodness right now. Tiny Jesus, in your golden fleece diapers with your tiny, little fat balled up fists, thank you for all your power and your grace. Amen. Dude, that is some funny shit!! Oh, yeah.......Amen!
  15. QUOTE (the masked drummer @ Nov 28 2011, 03:25 PM) I read Ace's autobiography and it was pretty good. He's great these days and is supposedly getting rave show reviews. I could deal with eric karr, hell, he was underrated as a drummer. And Eric Singer is badass. However, without ace it's just not the real deal. I just finished reading his book the other day. Very interesting read. It was nice to finally hear the other side of the story. Although Gene literally saved Ace's life on two occasions, he really treated Ace poorly and was a total asshole. What else is new?

  17. QUOTE (The Big Money @ Dec 30 2011, 01:14 PM) Awesome! INDOOR SHOWS!!!!
  18. Well, I misunderstood what he said in the interview. So, unfortunately, it looks like you're correct. When Alex mentioned that "the powers that be" were working on it and their hearts were into making the new record, I took that as they weren't involved. I blame the booze. Could have been the weed, though. Not sure. Here's the interview: Planet Rock Interview
  19. QUOTE (ak2112 @ Dec 24 2011, 03:56 PM) QUOTE (Perchance to Dream @ Dec 24 2011, 05:47 PM) I was under the impression that the band didn't have anything to do with this box set? I thought I heard Alex say that in a recent radio interview. Maybe I misheard him. Huh, I'd be interested to hear that interview since I could have sworn I saw a quote from Geddy where he mentioned they were involved in all phases of this release. For sure Rich Chycki was involved in the remastering/remixing process and he's the bands right hand man these days along with their producer. I would actually love to hear that I was wrong about them being involved as that would mean they didnt sign off on this sonic disaster! It was posted here a while back. I'll try to find it and link it up for you. Like I said, I could be wrong.
