  1. QUOTE (druid13 @ Jul 25 2011, 11:20 AM) Ummm.....I could have done without this photo of an overweight man in a boat wihtout a shirthttp://www.latimes.com/media/photo/2011-07/174736140-22173500.jpg Are those oars or did someone harpoon that dude?
  2. I am shocked and offended that Neil would dare call Lynyrd Skynyrd a bunch of rednecks. f**k Neil Young!! Mess with the bull, ya get the horns. That's what my pappy learned me. Focus, people! Focus! Your rage needs to be channeled towards something tangible. I have come to the conclusion that this blatant attack on Southern Rock will eventually force me to burn all of my Rush albums. I need to rediscover Molly Hatchet and bask in my Confederate roots! <---------- The snowboard sorta looks like the Stars and Bars, so I went with it.
  3. If Steve Howe and the other dinosaurs that make up Yes are still doing it, I think/hope the boys still have several gallons left in the tank.
  4. I certainly hope that none of the networks mentioned in the poll would do this. If one of them does, it's on like Donkey Kong! JIHAD!!!
  5. QUOTE (ioc @ Jul 5 2011, 03:32 PM) Whose fault is this? The only answer I feel safe answering is, "The murderer's". As far as the trial goes, I often wonder why D.A. offices are so quick to go to trial. In this case, I think they were trying to capitalize on the public outrage and past cases (ala O.J.) to allow them a sure-fire conviction regardless of their evidence. It didn't work out that way. Now, Casey is home free if she actually did do it. Seems like it would make more sense to make sure she remains their primary suspect and that she knows it. The case may be cold, but at least there is no statute of limitations on murder. If Casey did do it, she would live the remainder of her life wondering what evidence is out there to be found. She would never have a day's peace, knowing at any moment she'd be found out and would go straight to the needle. Now it doesn't matter. Maybe it's a gamble either way, but the D.A. rolled the dice and crapped out. Nope. Double jeopardy. No matter what new evidence may come out, she will never again be tried for her daughter's death. It's over.
  6. QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Jul 5 2011, 02:40 PM) Man what's her Thanksgiving table going to be like this year? She's accused her dad and brother of raping her, both of whom deny it. She's accused her father of being negligent in leaving up a ladder that caused her baby to drown and then accused him of being the one -- not her -- to cover it up. Happy times! Yeah, no doubt. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if the Anthony's wind up in divorce court. The entire family has a few screws loose. I'm one of those types that holds a grudge. This case has absolutely nothing to do with me, but I don't care. I hope that Casey becomes a pariah and is shunned by society en mass. If that makes me a selfish and unreasonable person; guilty as charged! What makes me hate her even more than the intensity of a million burning suns is that she will become wealthy beyond her wildest dreams due to this. Movie rights, book rights, interviews, etc., etc. f**k her and the f***ing horse she rode in on. I'd rather play Twister in a leper colony than be within a mile of this filthy skank! Wow! That was cathartic! I feel much better, thanks!
  7. QUOTE (RodrigoAltaf @ Jul 4 2011, 02:41 PM)Check out these new photos of Eddie and Wolfie...the article is in POrtuguese, but boh seem well taken care of: http://whiplash.net/materias/news_849/133467-vanhalen.html Yeah, that's the best that Eddie has looked in years. He's looking fairly healthy compared to some of the shots that I've seen of him that almost made me shriek in horror. From what I can see in that photo, his entire top row of teeth have either been replaced or capped. Chompers: check Chops: We'll see/hear. Hopefully...
  8. I hate to admit it, but the new album is pretty good. I'm a sucker for Squire's tone when he plays that Rick with a pick.
  9. QUOTE (nobodys hero @ Jun 26 2011, 11:00 AM) Unrealistically, I'm sure:Tom Sawyer for Hemispheres More realistic: SoR for Far Cry They did Spirit of Radio and Far Cry on this tour. My picks: Faithless for The Pass Stick it Out for Grand Designs
  10. QUOTE (drbirdsong @ Jun 28 2011, 07:48 PM) He has been battling ear infections that went untreated and neglected until he had to take antibiotics to clear it up. He mentions it in "Far And Away". I guess the meds are done and his ears may finally be feeling better. Also, it is very near the end of the tour and maybe he just got tired of the ear buckets. I'll ask him next time I see him. Thanks for the info. Next time you see him, ask him when he switched back to the inner-ear monitors on the pre-Clockwork Angels tour. Thanks?
  11. The parking area at the Gorge is a gigantic grass field. The last time I was there, there were tons of people doing the tailgate thing. As far as I could tell, it wasn't discouraged by venue staff or law enforcement. If you're going just for the show, I would leave at least an hour before showtime. That'll give you time to park and walk into the venue. As I recall, it was a semi-long walk. The show last night in Concord started about 10 or 15 minutes late. Have fun!
  12. QUOTE (umoveme @ Jun 28 2011, 04:11 PM) I was blown away the whole night! When they ran out and I saw them right in front of me, I actually teared up!!! I ended up getting one of the shirts Geddy threw, as well! Amazing! Very nice! I was too far back to catch a shirt. They throw like sissies. *hijack* I just clicked on your profile. Nice Ruger.
  13. QUOTE (trenken @ Jun 28 2011, 04:41 PM) Was it outdoors and hot/humid? On the VT tour I saw them indoors and out in the summer. Outdoors he wore the earpiece, indoors the headphones. Concord is an outdoor venue. It was warm at the beginning of the show, but cooled off considerably as the night progressed. He's been battling an ear infection for part of this tour. It's my understanding that that's why he switched over to headphones.
  14. I noticed right off the bat that Neil was back to using his inner-ear monitors. Does anyone know when he switched back from using headphones? Just curious....
  15. Boatloads of energy in Concord, without a doubt! I was expecting them to be dragging ass at this point in the tour. Their fatigue was more than evident (to me, at least) towards the end of the S&A tour. Not this time! Smokin' hot and runnin' full bore on all cylinders! So glad that I didn't pass this one up!
  16. QUOTE (Unattractive Truth @ Jun 28 2011, 07:05 AM)It's amazing how much material he creates. The second clip reminds me a little of Drown with Me. Selfishly, I hope he gets back into the studio with Porcupine Tree soon. I'm on board with the selfishness! New Porcupine Tree, please.
  17. The Gorge is a spectacularly beautiful venue! I went a couple of years ago for the Dave Matthews Band three night stand over the Labor Day weekend. Downside: It's out in the middle of BFE. It's quite primitive. It's a chemical toilet wonderland. Unless you plan on camping there, hotels are a good 30 to 45 minute drive from the venue. Book a hotel room well in advance or you will be screwed.
  18. In Absentia was the first PT album that I listened to. I was hooked from there on out. I worked my way back from that album, then worked my way forward. Stupid Dream is still one of my all-time favorite albums. The melodies just grabbed me and the hooks set themselves deep into my psyche. I'm a fan of their earlier stuff, but I must admit, I just got back from an epic camping trip and Flicker was heavy in my rotation. Nothing is new here underneath the sun All of the new charlatans will sneer at us Hauntingly beautiful music right there, folks.
  19. QUOTE (tjtull @ Jun 9 2011, 06:19 PM) Good one PTD!! See, "One of These Days" IS evil. It's a good thing that they followed it up with A Pillow of Winds. Mellooooowwww......
  20. Meddle is close to the top of my favorite Floyd albums. I listened to it non-stop in high school and still give it a spin now and then. I actually named one of my dogs Seamus. Many moons ago, I introduced my friend to this album. We were sitting in my car, listening to it while we were partaking in certain illegal substances. I remember watching his face while he was tripping to the music. One of These Days was blasting through the stereo system. When the "One of these days, I'm going to cut you into little pieces" part played, my friend recoiled in horror and started freaking out. I asked him what the hell his problem was. His response: Dude.....when I heard that part, I saw the devil come out of your air conditioning vent! I laughed so hard I almost pissed myself. Good times.
  21. Very cool! That man is absolutely full of nervous energy. His hands never stop moving. Hand to the head; hand to the ear; hand to the mouth; hand to the nose. He looks like he's about to spontaneously combust! It was interesting to hear how he's been either slowing down or speeding up the tempo during certain portions of a song in order to let Geddy sing it easier. Very informative interview. Thanks for posting!
  22. QUOTE (Mara @ Jun 2 2011, 05:31 PM) Might as well start notifying your friends and family now that you're going to be using a new e-mail address. I use a shitcan e-mail address for this sorta stuff. Keepin' my fingers crossed, just in case.
  23. If you're bored enough, try this cool little math trick: Multiply your age by two and then add 5. Multiply that by 50. Subtract 365. Add the loose coin in your pocket under $1. Add 115. The first two figures in the resulting number are your age. The last two are the change in your pocket.
