  1. As it should be. Makes perfect sense as it's certainly "radio friendly" in the realm of your average modern Rush song. Sure, it might get minor air play at best...but it can capture a new fan or two like back in the day when I heard "The Pass" on the radio. I also noticed the "Headlong Flight/The Wreckers" sticker on the store version...so it's cool that the tune gets some showcase as a single.
  2. My least favorite off S&A...hard to listen to until the "a little closer to you" section. Can't believe it was released as a single. About as non-Rush fan (or casual) as you can get. Not that it received actual radio play.
  3. Definitely top 10 for me. Some time passing is needed for me to best judge, so 5-7 range works for me at this moment. Nothing will touch PW, Signals, Hemispheres, and Moving Pictures. (in that order) After that...I could see CA in the mix with 2112 and GUP.
  4. QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ Jul 6 2012, 10:21 AM) Cool poll! I agree. This is the best poll I've seen in a while. 4 powerhouse songs to choose from. As brilliant of a song "The Garden" is...I don't want to be a prisoner of the moment with it. It needs time.
  5. Hearing "The Pass" for the first time, along with seeing the "Show Don't Tell" video got me into Rush, and set me on my journey of becoming a fanatic ...so easy pick for me!
  6. Guessing I'm different than most when it comes to some of these songs... 1. Carve away the Stone (yep) 2. Driven 3. Dog Years (uhh...yep) 4. Resist 5. Totem 6. Time and Motion 7. Color of Right 8. Limbo 9. Test for Echo 10. Half the World 11. Virtuality
  7. Easily Signals for me. I rarely listen to PW, or rank it high, although Territories is a favorite.
  8. Seven f'n cities of Gold, mutha-truckah!
  9. Wish them Well since first listen. The Wreckers is strong, but the "wary/contrary" bit gets a little tedious for me though... Halo Effect is fine, but not in the other 2 songs league.
  10. I spend (waste? hehe) plenty of time on eBay searching for cool Rush items to add to the collection. I'm always interested in other options though.
  11. Not really. I can get over some of the corny lyrics...well except maybe Virtuality (solid musically, though). I actually enjoy Dog Years as it is...the lyrics are meant to be tongue in cheek, and I think it works.
  12. Hard to say. It's been in my top 3-4 since first listen. It's a deep album with some great songs that rise to the top, so it seems to get lost in the mix. It has a great old school Rush feel/groove though...monster intro...love it.
  13. The Spirit of Radio is the perfect choice. It's accessable, and such a signature Rush song.
  14. Digital man, The Weapon, New World Man gets my vote. Classic trio there.
  15. QUOTE (greg2112 @ Jun 30 2012, 08:47 AM) A top 10 rush album? absolutely top tier. Masterpiece? no. That's about how I'd judge it at this early point...
  16. Really really good album...quite possibly great with some time for it to breathe. Such a great time to be a fan of a band still creating killer material at this point of their career. An interesting story and concept...including some songs that could be all-time classics. That said, the term "masterpiece" seems like a quite a stretch though.

Wow...I remember that tour. They look so young. I remember Alex's modified mullet and Geddy's pony tail. I was never a big fan of his Steven Segal look. What a great tour, though. Thanks for posting this. No problem...came across that video a month or so ago, happy to post it since I grew up with late 80's early 90's Rush. Big fan of the Presto album and War Paint.

  19. QUOTE (Rush-O-Matic @ Jun 28 2012, 04:10 PM) QUOTE (A rocket that ignites itself @ Jun 28 2012, 02:14 PM) I plan on diving into it when I have more time this weekend. From only thumbing through it so far, I can tell it's going to be a great read! BTW, is the regular issue of classic rock with Rush on the cover (july issue) on bookstands yet? I was at Barnes & Noble 2-3 weeks ago, and I think they still had the issue with Slash on the cover. Yes, I saw it at B&N last night. It's $12, which was a little pricey for me for a magazine. Nice cover, but some of the text that goes over the cover photo is printed on the plastic outer sleeve, though. Ahh, thanks for the info. I'll be on the lookout for it...not sure if I'll buy it or not. I might just stick to reading the transcript on the Cynus x-1 website.

  21. It took me years to rate it as high as I currently do. Presto was my first Rush album, so my discovery of the catalog going backwards (particularly Hemispheres) was quite mind blowing to say the least.
  22. QUOTE (presto123 @ Jun 26 2012, 06:07 PM) Everybody list a few of your favorite King's X tunes. I'm curious:) Some of my favorites... Move Me Mississippi Moon Fade Two Pleiades The Other Side Believe Mr. Wilson We Are Finding Who We Are Mudd ok, that's more than a few...
  23. QUOTE (ILSnwdog @ Jun 26 2012, 04:23 PM) Cult of Personality, Type, and Leave It Alone are three of the most bad ass rock songs ever made. I never knew they got back together. Can anyone comment on their newer stuff? I haven't explored any of their newer material, but I seem to remember them on tv (Conan O'Brien?) back in Sept. 2009. I remember the time period because I was in the hospital at the time..loopy, and watching late night tv.
