  1. Same name as the awesome sitcom Mr. Belvedere?
  2. QUOTE (ILSnwdog @ Feb 26 2010, 08:10 AM) This one may be a bit of a challenge. http://forum.avtoindex.com/foto/data/media/196/De_Tomaso_Mangusta_67-71_1.jpg I'm gonna have to guess a Pantera of some sort? Edit, Oh a Mangusta! This was my first car. http://ford-parts.uneedapart.com/images/ford-cortina-parts.jpg

QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Feb 5 2010, 09:51 AM)Cameron is a great visual storyteller, a special effects innovator and a master technician. And this is why it should be seen in the theater in 3D, preferably IMAX not later on DVD. Sure it's an old story but it is told well, and is entertaining. Oh, and I'll probably never watch Dark Knight again because of Bale's gravely voice. I was laughing out loud at everything he said by the end of the movie as it became so ridiculous. The dialogue was fine but the directing wasn't. Of course that's my opinion not a fact for everyone. 2 cents.

QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Jan 11 2010, 08:13 AM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Jan 11 2010, 10:46 AM) QUOTE (JimboGames @ Jan 8 2010, 10:12 AM) Avatar = Pocahontas + Starship Troopers (but in 3D) If you see it, be sure to see it in 3D. It is a mediocre movie without the 3D. I can't do 3-D. My wife and I saw a 3-D Imax movie about four years ago and we both left with splitting migraines. I envy those of you who are unaffected by it. This is my biggest trepidation and why I went for the normal 2-D version initially. I'm prone to migraines anyhow, so perhaps it's best to not push it. Still I have to say I'm curious because I've not seen "modern" 3-D and I'm intrigued. I think it's still more of a fad/trend thing, even with the improvements...but I've only seen really awful 3-D from the 80s (Friday Pt. 3; Jaws 3) and earlier, so no good grounds for comparison. It's no fad. Coming soon to a TV near you even. Especially in Imax on a proper Imax screen, not some planetarium. Another benefit of Imax over the other 3d systems is it uses two projectors as opposed to one splitting the frames, so the image is brighter. Really good when you get a director who doesn't use it just to "show off" the 3D. Avatar didn't have anything that was blatantly thrown in just for the 3D effect.

The movie was entertaining and beautiful, but... http://www-movieline-com.vimg.net/images/55102808-dc9fa414f2573b1e6e7eb5a384745206.4b439f7f-scaled.jpg

  8. QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Jan 2 2010, 06:59 PM) Hey, brother...I'm all here to talk the topic at hand. I'm not the one bad-mouthing the subject at hand. Big Star Wars/Sci-fi fan. Perfectly reasonable. Next line is yours if you want it.
  9. IMPERIAL OFFICER: The Death Star plans are not in the main computer. P.S. Why don't both of you take your little battle else where please? You know who you are. Let us "geeks" have our little thread back. I don't see how it's any skin off either of your noses.
  10. 3PO: Wait a minute. Where are you going?
  11. Saw it yesterday in IMAX 3D. Might as well remove every other entry in the VFX category for the Oscars. Visually amazing. Story, predictable and been done. Dances with wolves meets Final Fantasy The Spirits Within. But still entertaining. Review
  12. Cameron is a fine director, but I've got to agree with the boys from South Park here; Avatar looks like live action Smurfs to me. The CG looks standard not exceptional, but I'll wait for final judgment until it comes out.
  13. So I'm watching Warehouse 13, not the greatest show ever but it's summer re-run season and I'm a nerd so... This week they pull out this picture, ancient symbol, of a circular snake eating it's tail. And one of the agents, the guy, says something about Snakes and Arrows that catches my ear and the female agent says "what?" And he says "Rush's best album since roll the bones." There's another small reference later on to. It's a quirky scy fy (can't believe they changed the name of the channel ) show and it was the latest episode. You can probably watch it online if you're interested.
  14. Do these voice actors have soooo much going on they can hold out? Why not just create a whole new series with different characters then?
  15. First off, HUGE Star Wars fan here. I agree with a lot of what's been said. The prequels suffer from bad dialog, and bad acting. Star Wars is supposed to create Pop Culture not use it. Jar Jar,"Exsqeeeze me." "I don't care what galaxy you're from that's gotta hurt." And vader screaming NOOOOoooooo got a huge laugh. Pretty sure that's not what Lucas was going for there. Maybe have Vader take a step and crumple to his knees, as he's not used to his new legs yet, and gently seethe/weep as his anger rips the room apart... The one thing that could've saved them all was having Gary Kurtz involved. Clearly he wasn't the yes man that Rick McCallum is. But I'll still watch 'em over and over again and I was very glad to see the Obi/Anakin battle on Mustafar since I first heard the rumor about a volcano in 1977. Say what you will the lightsaber battles rule in the prequals.
  16. Sorry is it's already posted but my wife thought of this one. "I find I'm so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend, and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope."
  17. "He'll be alright." From one of the biggest movies of all time, not a great last line but... And "Lens cap."
  18. Check the Real Trek fans reactions to the Onion. Especially post #4. Going to see it in IMAX this Weekend. Fan's react to Onion

  20. looks like it's back up right now.
  21. Yeah I can't get in right now either.
  22. QUOTE (workingcinderellaman @ Oct 28 2008, 12:16 PM) Has anyone seen this? http://joelamoroney.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/idiocracy1.jpg Oh Yeah! It's a little scary for being so accurate, but pretty funny.
