The people are just dropping like flies in the trailer. But what's killing them? And the last good movie I saw by M. Night Shamylan was Signs. I'll skip this one, thanks. Signs was entertaining up until the aliens (who managed to fly thru space and have advanced weapons) couldn't break down a wood door... and those same advanced aliens couldnt see our planet was 3/4 water before they invaded? Or that the human body is mostly water...
  5. QUOTE (Choose/the/light @ May 23 2008, 05:42 PM) yea i was gonna say, what if Yes & PT went on tour together and Gavin Harrison was on the skins for both! Nice idea maybe, but Alan White would have to be dead and buried in the Mariana Trench before another drummer is going to cut the groove for Yes.
  6. As far as new PT, don't forget that Gavin Harrison is now a part of King Crimson, as well. That could complicate things a bit as far as schedules go.
  7. I'm with you 100%. That stuff is trash, and Fox should know better than to advertise a show like that, in that way, during a family show like Idol.

  9. Wow, this is very sad, indeed! Rush would not have been the same had he stayed, but he was really quite good on that first album. Rest in Peace, John.
  10. I remember in 10th grade we did a biology project where we pinned a bunch of bugs to a styrafoam sheet. That sure killed them!!!

If I don't make the list every day I get kinda desperate and have to resort to "Let's Count!!!" Ok Lets start here as well 1 We already have a thread for counting. We had removed the Top Posters button for a while because using that function slowed the board down too much. We brought it back for a while but then too many of you postwhores started clicking that button too much again. My God! You can watch me through the computer, can't you???

Do a little research on why Wilson wrote FEar of a Blank Planet. yea is he on pills? No, he just thinks everyone else is. That about sums it up!!! BTW - Mustard Death, I don't mean to bust balls or anything, but your avatar is the most annoying thing I think I've ever seen.

  15. QUOTE (Mandalorian Hunter @ Apr 15 2008, 05:49 AM) SW didn't want PT pigeonholed as Prog because back in the 90's it was a dirty word, even to him, and let's face it, who would want to be pigeonholed in the same genre as such a stagnant band as Dream Theater? He's cooling to the term now because new bands that are considered prog nowadays are actually progressing somewhere. That's an interesting take. However, it fails to take into account the impact the PT had on Progressive music. Instead of saying he didn't want to be classified as prog because DT was not a good band (highly debatable) but then to say that now there are good prog bands, so now PT can be prog. What about PT being prog and making prog good again (assuming it was bad in the 90's?)

  17. QUOTE (Gompers @ Apr 11 2008, 03:16 PM) QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Apr 4 2008, 10:35 AM) I have a friend who's trying to sample them...picking (arbitrarily) this song or that...and that's fine. But she's not "getting it." Perhaps she won't. But I urged her to let me burn an entire disc for her, because PT seems like the kind of band that requires digestion IN CONTEXT of an entire piece of work. It's sort of like sampling The Wall by just listening to Vera. It's a fine enough tune, but it's more relevant (and interesting) in the context of the entire album....not just as "track 3" or whatever. You must hear Steven Wilson speak during the XM Transmission release. I think you can still purchase it online at Burning Shed. Anyway, he talks about how it's hard to "pigeon-hole" the PT sound. BTW...it has an absolutely awesome version of Tinto Brass. Gavin Harrison really shines on it. I think SW has a problem with PT being "pigeon-holed" as prog, or even anything else. Maybe he hates labels, maybe he feels like he wants the freedom to evolve the sound of the group, which has happened. What I do know is he believe prog is distinguished for its complex arrangements, and he wants PT to be known for its complex and lush production. Wait, who poroduces PT??? Oh yeah, SW!!! Of course!! I love 'em anyway!!!
  18. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Apr 6 2008, 03:46 PM) QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Apr 6 2008, 02:04 AM) R.I.P. Mr. Heston "Omega Man" and "Planet of the Apes" were favs from my childhood. Two of my favorites as well. (I don't know if I've seen him in anything else.) Try The Ten Commandments and Ben Hur. They are both classic epic Hollywood films. R.I.P Mr. Heston!
  19. QUOTE (nimagraven @ Mar 20 2008, 10:37 AM) QUOTE (LoneStar Boogie @ Mar 20 2008, 08:19 AM) QUOTE (nimagraven @ Mar 20 2008, 07:45 AM) I could care less because it's actually important. Remember Kylie Minogue and the amount of press breast cancer received? Yeah. Whether you like it or not, people who get cancer and are in the public light is very good for diseases like this. It raises awareness and saves lives. Period. I don't think anyone pretends to have an emotional attachment to Patrick Swayze but having watched a member of my extended family die of cancer, I think I'm well entitled to say that I feel sorry for the guy and I feel sorry for his family (Which I do). It's a horrid, horrid thing. Having money makes no odds on it. At the same time, I feel sorry for the third world as well. It's called sympathy at the end of the day.. And it appears that some of us have it in abundance (Good for you). You can have all the money in the world, but it doesn't make you happy, nor does it take away the fact that we're just mere mortals. Hope he makes a swifty recovery . Not to dampen the mood of your post, but I believe he has pancreatic cancer, which is fatal. Yup. I'm aware of that. The tone of my original post still stands though, and I don't see how or where has the cancer would make any difference. It does raise awareness, therefore it is important. I do feel sorry for the family and for him, as I would for anyone's family if they had to go through this. And yes I do care therefore I could care less. Wow. Muddled . Right. I was just saying he's not going to make a recovery, as you were hoping for, that's all.

  22. It is sad about Swayze, I've enjoyed many of his movies. I was suprised a while back after seeing him interviewed, that he wants to be remembered for his dancing abilities. I believe the way he put it was, he wanted people to say he could really "shake his butt!"
  23. QUOTE (D'Artagnan @ Mar 18 2008, 08:04 PM) I am not sad nor sorry because the person mentioned in the thread is going to die from cancer, not because I wish him (or anyone) death, but rather because I don't want to pretend like I am emotionally attached to him (or any of those dubbed "celebrities"). Thousands of people die because of our fuel and electricity consumption, our planet is dying by our own hands, and we do not care. My heart aches when I see a child in some underdeveloped country dying, but I could care less about an old rich man who lived his life to the fullest. I can't wait until you get into the Politics forum so I can earn a one month suspension.
