  1. My wife just picked up the cd from the record store in town. Going to listen to it when I get home. Here's the proof, http://www.flickr.com/photos/54168442@N08/7349731294/ Can't direct link from Flickr anymore. Anyone notice the typo on the sticker?

i don't know if this counts as a leak but my local independent record store is selling the CD a few days early, as soon as they come in.

  4. even crappy seats would be worth it.
  5. So you're hoping that Geddy does a duet with Tupac during CA?
  6. the only place i've heard it was sirius/xm 38 "the boneyard"
  7. it's a new stadium and hasn't opened yet so no one can give you advice as to how the place is set up. I just got my tickets for the show in Brooklyn. Section 115.
  8. Section 115 for the Barclay's Center, Brooklyn, NY
  9. i've got a farewell to kings skull shirt, 2112 starman, vapor trails polo, vapor trails tour shirt, counterparts tour shirt, snakes and arrows tour shirt, and finally a time machine moving pictures tour shirt. my favorite would be the polo because i can wear it to work.

  11. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Apr 27 2012, 06:51 PM) QUOTE (Merely Space @ Apr 27 2012, 02:48 PM) I have a feeling that most of Rush's new fans are indoctrinated by their parents. It's like a genetic mutation passed from generation to generation. It was the opposite in my case. My parents hated Rush when I first started listening to them but my dad's starting to enjoy them and my mom's kind of indifferent now. yeah i agree. my parents not only did not indoctrinate me to rush, they never heard of them. to my father there were two types of music, Irish folk (dubliners) and Irish rebel (wolftones) and that's it.
  12. for the same reason why there are Beatles fans and stones fans. johnny cash and Elvis fans, pick a topic and two opinions will form, one for and one against.

  15. QUOTE (D3strukt @ Apr 26 2012, 09:28 PM) QUOTE (furie @ Apr 26 2012, 09:16 PM) Rush will be seen as dinosours from a begone era because sad to say Rock is dead. For some reason we stopped having rock stars. We sit at home playing rock video games, and we have rock museums. Rock 'n' roll is a video game. Rock 'n' roll is a chance to look at Elvis' pants. It's everything but a f***ing lifestyle. It's fast food..... It's over kids, you missed it, the death rattle is even done. Rush is one of the last great rock bands. Once they're gone, there won't be anymore. There will still be rock bands just as jazz and blues still exist. But it won't be as it was. Still got Yes, Sabbath, AC/DC, Ozzy. the list could go on. There's plenty still out there. those bands are older than Rush and probably will be gone before Rush, hence my point. I didn't say they're the only band left, I said they'll be one of the last.

  17. you know, i've never understood the rush/dream theater comparison. i've listened to DT and i'm sorry but i don't see it. just because they both fall into the progressive rock category doesn't mean they sound alike or go well together.

  19. http://www.news24.com/World/News/Swiss-wom...asting-20120425 QUOTE Geneva - Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger reports that a woman starved to death after embarking on a spiritual diet that required her to stop eating or drinking and live off sunlight alone. The Zurich newspaper reported on Wednesday that the unnamed Swiss woman in her fifties decided to follow the radical fast in 2010 after viewing an Austrian documentary about an Indian guru who claims to have lived this way for 70 years. Tages-Anzeiger says there have been similar cases of self-starvation in Germany, Britain and Australia. The prosecutors' office in the Swiss canton (state) of Aargau confirmed on Wednesday that the woman died in January 2011 in the town of Wolfhalden in eastern Switzerland. Spokesperson Jennifer Rissi says prosecutors haven't opened a criminal investigation over the woman's death.
  20. probably not. sad to say, i'm not as open to new music as I once was, So if Rush was a new unknown band i probably wouldn't buy based on headlong flight.
  21. QUOTE (snowdog2112 @ Apr 25 2012, 03:00 PM) I'm really curious what Roadrunner expects CA to sell considering we've heard about a "massive" promotion campaign getting underway as the album gets closer. I just don't think a lot of people realize how dismal album sales are overall and especially for rock. I remember Neil commenting a couple years ago that S&A basically just broke even and record sales have dropped considerably just since then. If S&A sold maybe 400,000 or so and didn't make any money why the hell spend any money promoting anything anymore? As of a few weeks ago the new Van Halen album was the second best selling new album of the year behind only a compilation and it's still sitting at only around 330,000 sold. More people will actually get the albums but they all just either torrent them or get copies from friends. At this point it seems like if CA even hits 200,000 within the first year it'll be a huge success relatively speaking. But all the sales will come from hardcore Rush fans who will decide to buy it or not regardless of any record company promotion so I'm not sure what the point is. There simply is no casual rock market anymore, especially for older bands. I was just thinking about all this because of a thread on a VH forum where they were talking about the same thing. Look at this list, it's the top selling rock albums for all of 2011. For those that don't want to go page by page through it I'll summarize it below: #1 - Coldplay- Mylo Xyloto (908,000 copies) #2 - Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds (492,000 copies) #3 - Florence & The Machine- Ceremonials (384,000 copies) #4 - Foo Fighters- Wasting Light (380,000 copies) #5 - Mumford & Sons- Sigh No More (373,000 copies) #6 - Elbow- Build A Rocket Boys (327,000 copies) #7 - Kasabian- Velociraptor (279,000 copies) #8 - Snow Patrol- Fallen Empires (269,000 copies) #9 - Noah & The Whale- Last Night On Earth (261,000 copies) #10 - Arctic Monkeys- Suck It and See (223,000 copies) http://www.gigwise.com/photos/70084/1/The-...-Albums-Of-2011 Ok, I'm old, but I swear to you I've only heard of three of those. When I grew up rock music was bands like Van Halen and Def Leppard that were selling 10 million-plus. Now we've got Elbow and Mumford and Sons and 4 of the top 10 sellers are in the freaking 200,000s. Not a single platinum rock album and only 1 that sold over half a million. Rock is truly dead. QUOTE #5 - Mumford & Sons- Sigh No More (373,000 copies) that came out in 2009
  22. QUOTE (ridertoo98 @ Apr 25 2012, 04:43 PM) How do I get it from my kids Ipod , to my computor to burn to cd?? I aint no apple guy assuming your computer is a pc: 1 Connect the iPod to your PC. If iTunes starts syncing (ie erasing) your music automatically, hit the X in the upper right hand corner of iTunes display, to the left of the search box, to stop it. 2 In Control Panel, Portable Media Devices, double-click your iPod. 3 In the Tools menu -> Options, in the View Tab, check "Show hidden files and folders." 4 Navigate to the Music folder. for example Portable Media Devices\ IPOD (F:)\iPod_Control\Music 5 Select all the music folders, and drag and drop them into a folder on your hard drive, or directly into iTunes.
  23. i doubt it. Rush hasn't had an opening act since the counterparts tour.
