  1. I think there is a difference in the way the books were signed in each version. The silver version showed the signatures being on a bookplate-which is basically a sticker stuck into the book. The Gold version, I think, is actually signed and numbered on the book itself. It didnt spell this out in the description but on the silver one it said it was "autographed" and numbered starting at 300, while the Gold one says its actually signed. While it may not matter to alot of people, books signed on a bookplate instead of the book itself, tend to go for alot less. I guess thats just because it means that they never actually touched the book you bought. After thinking about it I'm glad I got the Gold version, as its just a very nice overall display. Also I'd much rather have the book itself signed than a bookplate, but thats just me.
  2. Theres nothing wrong with A&S but theres quite a few songs on S&A that are better than that, and its certainly not the best song they've done since Subdivisions. That being said CA is a great gem to find in the new songs. Probably my favorite song to listen to on the album since it came out. It took a few listens for me to get into it but thats one of the benefits of listening to Rush. The more you listen the more you discover and favorite songs tend to change depending on what your listening to.
  3. They're not going to bring a backing orchestra with them on a tour simply to play a handful of songs. I wouldnt put it past them to try it once but to do a whole tour where their paying people to do nothing for 90% of the concert makes no sense. It will not happen. This is Rush-not The Eagles or Kiss or anyone else where people dont care if half the band changes from tour to tour. They didnt even hire a synthesizer player in the 80's to back Geddy in the background. They'll just play samples like they normally do for the parts where they have no way of playing it themselves.

    CA vs SA

Not much wrong with Snakes though I enjoy VT a little bit better. I listen to SA and VT both quite alot. There really is greatness on every Rush album if you want to find it. That being said I really love most of the songs on CA and cant wait to hear them in the clarity of an actual cd. You really have to hand it to Alex. Since starting on VT he has turned into the greatest rhthym guitarist I have ever heard. It seems like every song has 3 or 4 or more really cool, hard guitar riffs in it. Really the whole band has moved toward a much harder approach since they came back in 2002.
  5. Just heard the new album. What an absolutely great song the Wreckers is with an extremely catchy chorus. I found myself listening to Seven Cities of Gold and Wish Them Well alot too but I'm very impressed by the whole album. When you add it to the 3 previously released songs its easily a home run. And please stop putting down previous albums just because we're all excited by how good this album is! They are all still great!!!
  6. QUOTE (ioc @ May 27 2012, 09:39 AM)QUOTE (jebren72 @ May 27 2012, 08:05 AM)Saying that whoever is a better drummer than Neil...is like saying your dentists secretary must be a better writer than Ernest Hemingway because she can type 100 words a minute. Heres a tip-if your going to make a point DONT IGNORE 95% OF REALITY TO TRY AND MAKE IT. Point of interest: Do we know how fast Hemingway typed? 80 words a minute when drunk-15 words when not And apparently he could fire a gun even quicker-BA DUM BUM
  7. Saying that whoever is a better drummer than Neil because they are technically better while ignoring the fact that Neil has helped create some of the most celebrated, astonishing original music for 38 years is like saying your dentists secretary must be a better writer than Ernest Hemingway because she can type 100 words a minute. It makes no sense and indicates a real willingness to go through life with blinders on, which is probably why people started making fun of the guy immediately. Heres a tip-if your going to make a point DONT IGNORE 95% OF REALITY TO TRY AND MAKE IT. And certainly dont start a thread saying "Blah-Blah Smith, who never has created anything worth listening to, is a better drummer than Neil cuz he filmed himself in his basement drumming something cool!"
  8. Vapor Trails is one of their top 5 albums. Its a shame some "fans" couldnt move forward with them on it but who cares. I listen to it quite abit. Alex's rhythms on it are unreal! It could use a remix but they already did OLV and Earthshine for the Retrospective so it'd just be the rest of the album. I dont think there'd be enough commercial demand to justify doing it but we can always hope! Ceiling Unlimited could really use a remix but at least they did 2 songs off of it. And Out of the Cradle is a very good song. Alex's guitar part in the middle is one of the albums highlights.
  9. I thought this was going to be a thread talking about some sort of confusion in The Who's Live at Leeds version.
  10. CTTC is a good song but I can think of at least 5 other songs off Counterparts that are better so I wouldnt hold my breath on them playing it. If they're going to play something obscure off CP just play Between Sun and Moon. It and Animate are the best songs on the album and they'd already dropped it when I saw them in 2002 so I'd much rather see that. Its a great song and one of the few pre Vapor Trails songs that they actually just let a jam flesh out for awhile on.
  11. Neil strikes me(in that I dont know him sort of way) as a perfectly nice, thoughtful guy. I think because he's more reserved and he withdrew for awhile he's gotten a rep as some sort of dick. Honestly, if someone is that way , and people who dont know you are parceling through every innocent word you write looking for something sinister, would you want to interact with them? All he said was the guy didnt intrude on his evening in a "fan" way. All that probably means to Neil is that the guy didnt slobber all over him, demand a picture/autograph/his drum set/his email/phone number, and then run off without saying thanks-as I'm sure has happened to Neil about 20000 times. Neil is a very giving guy when it somes to signing autographs for fans so I doubt he was even talking about that or would have had a problem if the guy asked him for one . He's far more giving than most celebrities. If hes not comfortable with taking pictures or talking to people like their his new buddy then so be it. At least he's honest about it. Please stop putting your own "Neil should just do whatever everyone wants and if he doesnt he's a dick" policy onto him. No one on here knows him so why do people bring this up every month like they do?
  12. Far Cry is better but they're both great

He's not even the best drummer in Rush!!!! Right, John Lennon is! That's bullshit! Everyone knows the best drummer was obviously Paul McCartney! Yep, that's right. I got it mixed up. It was Lennon who said that about McCartney, I believe. The only thing that Neil is good for is writing silly love songs. whats wrong with that? id like to know. You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs. I look around me and I see it isnt so
  14. You can have a threesome til the day you die. I love women as much as anyone but hot women are a dime a dozen-theres only 1 Geddy and 1 Alex.

    Rush items

Since everyone has joined hands to sing "We are the World" and suddenly decided they have no problems with people selling Rush stuff lets have another go at this! I have my FTK group signed program on Ebay starting at $219 and my S&A group signed tour program starting at $199 if anyones interested in those. A separate site or forum or thread seems kind of unnecessary since you can just put stuff on Ebay, post about it on here, and everyone gets some sort of protection and knows about the item if they're interested. Purchasing on here gives the buyer no recourse if they dont get the item, and the seller none if the person claims they never got what they paid for. Also I doubt the moderators of this forum would want to moderate disputes-nor should they have to.
