  1. Puppet! I think you will dig it! Not only is the lyrical content funny as hell, the music is melodic metal with a lot of good acoustic guitar! The limited packaging is worth it! Earl
  2. I saw the add for the new Jack Black movie a couple days ago. Finally after that piece of crap "NACHO LIBRE" Jack woke up and went back to his own creation! The movie looks good. Well I bought the limited cd tonight called "The Pick Of Destiny" at Best Buy. Funny record man, even RONNIE JAMES DIO makes a guest vocal appearance on it! Anyway the limited edition comes in a cardboard book that opens up with a 3D art cover in a cardboard sleeve, tarot cards and that little green devil head gem called "The Pick Of Destiny." Beware! Every other word on the record is "F.U.C.K." Nothing wrong with that!!! ROCK ON!
  3. QUOTE (Cygnalschick @ Nov 2 2006, 07:26 PM) Speaking of John Carpenter, has anybody here seen In The Mouth of Madness?? Now that will scare the shit out of you I absolutely love "In The Mouth Of Madness!" Here is some trivia for STAR WARS FANS! Did you know that scene in "ITMOM" with the paperboy jamming on his bicycle on that road? That dude is Hayden Christensen as a little kid! Anakin Skywalker! John has a ton of classic films! "THE THING" "CHRISTINE" "PRINCE OF DARKENESS" "THEY LIVE" "ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK" "ASSUALT ON PRECINCT 13" "THE FOG" "VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED" "VAMPIRES" and a bunch more!
  4. Hey Nick! How the heck did I miss this incredible thread?? "Halloween" is the greatest horror movie ever made!!! I just watched on Halloween night with the wife as we do every year!! CLASSIC!! I love John Carpenter too!! A genius for sure! Poor John had no interest in writing HALLOWEEN II. He once said that the only thing that got him through the writing process was a six pack of beer a night. I know this will sound strange because I know 99% of all HALLOWEEN fans HATE "HALLOWEEN III SEASON OF THE WITCH." Well I must confess. I LOVE THAT SEQUEL!!!!! Far fetched concept? Sure but I love the storyline man. Heck I even love the soundtrack to Part III!! I liked PART IV and PART V was OK. Then the sequels hit rock bottom for me. "The Curse of Michael Myers" really sucked! So what's up with Rob Zombie doing the remake to "Halloween" in 2007? Why?? I will see it but come on! How the hell can you remake perfection??? Sincerely, "Silver Shamrock"
  5. QUOTE (PuppetKing2112 @ Nov 1 2006, 04:06 PM) Any of the DLR era albums are good. Van Hagar = I agree 1000%! SAM HALEN SUCKS!! If I had to pick one it would be "FAIR WARNING." "Mean Street" RULES! LONG LIVE DIAMOND DAVE!
  6. It's pretty cool but it's out in the middle of nowhere. I remember when I was there for the "Vapor Trails" Tour there were swirling winds and a huge hill fire close by. Geddy even made a comment about the "Force Ten" wind blowing through his hair! "Atmospheric pressure makes them sensitive again."
  7. QUOTE (Midway Hawker @ Nov 1 2006, 10:06 PM) I'm from Sac, Roseville to be exact... My favorite Safeway manager back in the day when I worked there finally retired and moved up to Roseville. Booming place. I have some good friends in Lincoln as well. RUSH ON!! See you in Marysville for a RUSH SHOW!!! Earl
  8. Hey Rocky! I am about an hour away from you! I have seen RUSH many times at Cal Expo and ARCO! GO WARRIORS!!!!!
  9. Come on now! Everybody loves "Savage Amusement!" MEDIA OVERKILL!
  10. Yes! The Scorpions Rule, although not really into their modern sound. I keep hoping for the Dino-Rock formula but I have to give them credit for being different on each new release lately. "Unbreakable" still does nothing for me. Favorite though? That is a tough call! "IN TRANCE" Great cover! The Japanese pressing artwork shows more nipple than other pressings. Cheers! To nipples!
  11. No wonder you hate it! You were only 3 years old when it came out. I was 15 years old when I saw it on Cinemax one night when my parents were out to dinner and my babysitter didn't care what my little brother and I watched!!! HEAVY METAL RULES!!! Sincerely, Blue Pubic Hair
  12. Line me up man! I love that animated CLASSIC!!! Hey Slime!! Watch out!! THE MOB RULES! Maybe you watched Heavy Metal 2000 The Movie instead. THAT MOVIE IS TOTAL CRAP! Cheers! Off to the firing squad........................................
  13. Check! I picked them all up at Rasputin Records in the Indie section last week! The cds are out there! Good band dude! Earl
  14. Listening to some killer Philly soul right now! Anyone else like this group? You got to get down and groove to "I Love Music" "Back Stabbers" "Love Train" and of course, "For The Love Of Money." Soul On! Earl
  15. Tangerine Dream is excellent! They have a killer 4 cd box set that spans throughout most of their career. I believe it is out of print though. My two favorite TD cds are "Force Majeure" and the "Thief" Soundtrack. Pretty good flick too starring James Caan. I think TD also did "Risky Business" and a sci fi flick called "Wavelength." Good stuff! Earl
  16. Thanks Moonraker! It figures!!!! Timing is everything! I hope they come around again next year! Earl
  17. QUOTE (Margana @ Oct 22 2006, 01:53 PM) Impressive list by Rushead666. Since he is a Saxon fan, I'm suprised that he missed "Wheels of Steel" also "Souped up Ford" by Rory Gallagher. Not being picky but surely "The Trooper" by Iron Maiden isn't a car song - its about a battle like the Charge of the Light Brigade! Two great calls that I missed! I know "The Trooper" in not a car song, just one I would love to blast with the windows down and the stereo cranked! My listed is a mixture of both!! "Hot Rod Lincoln" PAT TRAVERS BAND written by Charlie Ryan
  18. Hell yes that works!! I would just as well put in the "MONTROSE" cd in my car with windows down and blast the whole record!!!! Great call!! The first Montrose album is one of the greatest records on the earth!!

  20. Well I have another confession to make. Although I am a 38 year old dude with a lovely wife and two beautiful little girls I am also obsessed with the classic movie "The Nightmare Before Christmas." Heck I even love going down to Disneyland during the Holidays because they turn the Haunted Mansion into "Jack Skellington's Haunted Mansion!" Personally I think that it is amazing!! I heard a rumor that Tim Burton might pull the plug on the ride after 2006, so this year could be it!!!! Anyway, I saw in the newspaper today that in selected theaters the "Nightmare" movie is back on the big screen in 3D!!!!! Zoe, my 9 year old has been bugging me all day to take her to the show. I saw the original way back when and I loved it the first time! Now Wendy and I can take our kids to see it on the silver screen! Does anyone else in this Forum love "Nightmare" or am I walking alone among these lonely white cyber-walls of creative writing? I can't wait to take my wife and kids to the 3D version! I can't wait to hit Disneyland in December!!! Grand Californian here we come! Expensive but worth every penny! I will make sure to bring "The Crane Wife" with me down to Anaheim! Nothing like listening to The Decemberists in December! Tim Burton and Danny Elfman RULE!!!! Sincerely, Lock, Shock, and Barrel PS. Oh yeah I actually had an idea to write a sequel to "The Nightmare Before Christmas." I have the story and plot in my head, but I have no time to write it. The sequel would simply be entitled "The Nightmare After Christmas." ON!
  21. Hey! My terminal manager at work told me about this movie and he said that it is a MUST SEE! Thanks! I am sure it is not for the kids so I will wait for the dvd!!! ROCK ON! Earl
  22. Right on PK! I will surely try and check them out next time they hit San Francisco! Cheers! Earl
  23. I can't believe it but I must give props to the PuppetKing again. If it wasn't for him I never would have found out about The Decemberists. My topic title is true by the way. I really did marry my wife in October. October 13th! Our ten year anniversary was on Friday the 13th this year!! And yes we watched "Friday the 13th" with Jason Voorhes at the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay! It was very romantic!! Anyway, enough about me. Luckily before I heard "The Crane Wife" I was able to listen to a few earlier records by them. I was hesitant at first but then for instance "The Tain" started to grow on me. I love the Colin/Jenny vocal thing going on. I think that is a lost art form in modern music today. Heck, I am old school man. I don't even really like many female vocalists. Well of course BLONDIE (my favorite) and PAT BENETAR and the Wilson sisters from HEART, and Lana Lane, The Runaways, Girlschool, ABBA, (don't laugh) and of course Tony Basil!! (Just kidding!) So the bottom line here is that I dig this new "Decemberists" album. I might even check them out live someday. Believe it or not, even though I seem like I am stuck in my ways of progressive rock, hard rock, heavy metal, and the Bleus, I really still try to think OUTSIDE THE BOX! Country and Hip Hop do not count. YUCK! Occasionally I try to think OUTSIDE THE BUN! Especially when I go to Taco Bell. Sorry if my sense of humor is more like an intense bloated tumor. Life is too short....................... no matter how young you are. I prefer to put my time into the exploration of new tunes. They are out there man, you just have to stumble on them. Thanks again to the PuppetKing for unlocking the dormant door to the Decemberists. The twisting tides sure do tell a tasteful tangy tale. (maybe I should lay off of Primus for a while! ) One week a 17 year old kid tells me that I am childish over U2 bashing. The next week I respect his integrity as a young journalist and a rock interviewer with the intellectual insight on an up and coming band!! My new album is going to be called "THE INSANE LIFE." Hey I live for the cheesy rhyme. Cheers! Earl
  24. There is a Bill and Ted's Most Excellent Collection box set out. It came out a a year ago. It comes with a third dvd entitled "Non Bogus Disc." It has the making of documentary, it talks about the cartoon series that I guess bombed, but more importantly there is an exclusive Steve Vai interview on the dvd as well! Good stuff. Quite a most excellent disc! Earl
