  1. As am I in Myrtle Beach SC.... :sigh: I'm in Murrells Inlet! Getting ready for "Ana"...(sigh lol....)
  2. Hopefully management doesn't see and shut him down. They can pretty easily tell what section and row he's in. (crosses fingers)
  3. OMG this just went from fun to AWESOME. Thanks to whoever posted the link!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. What I think would be cool is to use a pitch shifter (not auto tune) to double his voice an octave in a few, very very occasional spots. He could sing the "struggle" part one octave lower but a present octave would be above him. NOT a track, not auto tune, but a pitch shifter if used right could work. It also could make him sound like he's on helium though..... On the CP tour bootleg, he used a "chorus" like effect on "every soul a battlefield" and that was cool. So maybe some chorus and a light pitch shifter would help. Just a thought. Far Cry is cool, and I think that would be a great transition. So exciting!
  5. Bastille day down a step would sound pretty badass. Similar to Circumstances.
  6. Set 1: R40 Overture: (Fly By Night/Bastille Day/Bangkok/Cygnus X-1/Hemispheres) Freewill New World Man Different Strings The Anarchist Show Don't Tell-Drum Solo 1 The Big Money Jacob's Ladder Set 2: Spirit of Radio New World Man The Garden Limelight YYZ-Drum Solo 2 Red Barchetta 2112-Overture/Temples Subdivisions Tom Sawyer Encore: What You're Doing Xanadu Working Man
  7. Tuning down a step may help some of the 1970's songs, but most of them it won't help a bit. Those said songs that tuning down won't help, I would love to see in an instrumental medley. I thought the R30 medley was cool, and it would be neat to have an R40 medley. I think they could really make a lot of songs from their self titled debut work really well (Need Some Love, Take a Friend) since they are more R+R/Blues oriented and that would be a lot of fun.
  8. This is all I have done for the past three shows. 2/3 came out great! On the S+A tour, second leg I got 4th row (2 tickets), on the TM tour I couldn't get great seats so I bargained with an Ebay scalper for $50 for a pair of lower bowl seats. On the CA tour I got front row. My advice: be sure to have a day or two to sit and invest. I refreshed TM every 15 minutes for nearly two days. I was on vacation watching TV, so I didn't have much to do. That is my plan, because no matter where you are sitting it's going to be amazing. Being up front is amazing, but it's nicer to sit a little further away so you I can enjoy the lights and sound. I find myself wanting to 'connect' with the band more when up front, and it can distract from the music. Plus the sound---ick.
  9. I try the presales or wait until the day of the show. Looking at brokering tickets in-between those two. Having said that landed 4th row and front row the day of the show and it was great. Worth the risk-they sound a lot better from the middle/back of the arena than being up front so....
  10. As I too, am a musician/ Choir director I conquer! Whole heartedly. Lately his vowel placement has been on the darker side of the pitch which usually makes him sound more flat. He should brighten up the vowels and place it more of a head tone or into his nasal cavity. This would also help him with his vocal chords! I noticed that too, I feel like he is singing with his throat a lot and he needs to bring it more forward and upward. Good to find another Music Educator on the board!
  11. I can't think of a specific setlist at the moment but I'm thinking they need to be very careful on how many un-Ged friendly songs they perform. I'm thinking a lot of instrumentals: YYZ, La Villa, Where's My Thing, Leave That Thing Alone, Main Monkey Business I'm thinking some gems that Ged can sing very well: Different Strings, Jacob's Ladder, Entre Nous Hits: Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Spirit of Radio, Working Man, Free Will, New World Man, Subdivisions R41 Overture: Fly By Night, The Trees, Cygnus Book I+II (abbreviated) Newer Stuff: New Song, Clockwork Angels, Headlong Flight, Far Cry, Earthshine Mid-Late 80's Stuff: Time Stand Still, Middletown Dreams
  12. As a professional musician/choir director I would suggest to keep doing what he's doing now. He needs to decide when he cannot hit the higher notes, and "say" the word. One fine example is the chorus of Tom Sawyer on the high E (E6). The only thing I would suggest is that he focus on hitting the front end of the note slightly more attack, and don't focus so much on the sustain of the notes with the very slow vibrato as he's doing now. In my opinion it appears to put additional strain on his voice during the set. I think even during slower songs he needs to hit the note, and decay quickly. If he sustains the note, try to speed up the vibrato because the slower vibrato is note as pleasant. Lowering the songs 1/2 step even though it doesn't sound like much completely changes the timbre of each song, and really doesn't give Ged any more breathing room. Plus a lot of the keys the songs would change to his voice isn't so familiar with (Eb major vs E major, Ab major vs A major). Having said this the man is 60 years old, he's doing great the way he is.
  13. Oddly enough checking in on this forum listening to Presto start to finish. Moved onto RTB now-
  14. Remember that rare tunes should still be in Ged's range. He'll be looking for "Rare" tunes he can still vocally pull off. I'm thinking of anything between Signals up to TFE vocally. Medley wise I have a feeling we will hear a Hemispheres Prelude all the way up until the vocals begin. Plus maybe Different Strings, Jacobs Ladder are doable too...ish. I for one certainly don't want to hear a bunch of "rare" tunes tuned down to Drop B so Ged can hit all the notes. It will be a great tour. I know it.
  15. I thought I had read somewhere that Ged said they would prefer to let the fans know when they are announcing their last tour. Maybe I'm wrong but I swear there was an interview I saw somewhere where he was commenting on the Police tour and talking about how they respect the fans enough to let them know.
