  1. yeah, it's good. It brings out a lot of questions and uncomfortable feelings. I can only imagine the American audience sees it with different eyes in comparision to mine.

  5. Her best known american movie is, I guess, "How to murder your wife". Her real best are probably in italian only, so you could need subs. But beauty needs no subs.
  6. I know you by now! You are a huge Simon Le Bon fan. I like Simon Le BON SCOTT!!!! LOL I'm being loony. Time for bed. Nah. my man, if you haven't lived in the 80s in small-town Italy, you can't hope to comprehend my hate for Durans and Spandaus. It was soooo over the place. The press had them going like Beatles vs Stones. Can you imagine that? And all the girls going histeric for "Through the Barricades". And all these aggressive, zilt-faced virgin boys going crazy for "Wild boys". I'd better stop or I might get a heart stroke in my old age.
  7. Trust VT to spark a thread to 4 pages in one day... I loved the original album for its meaning, its lyrics, the sheer energy of its songs, but such an album, that requires to be blasted at full volume, blasted at full volume turned into a white noise mess. So the Remix allows you to do just that: rock out at full volume with clean sounds. So yes, the Remix has its reason d'etre.
  8. http://cdn.traileraddict.com/content/vision-films/astronaut_last_push.jpg Interesting premise, a little boring. For a B-movie, it could have been worse.
  9. I love Frankie! The Relax album is great, but one of my most favourite songs by them is this: Another video I use in my classes to explain pop art.
  10. I have to admit I dig this album, even if it's tarnished by the presence of two Durans (whom, you know by now, I hate hate hate hate hate hate...). The drum fills on "Some like it hot" are among the most brilliant I've ever heard. I used to whistle to them! How can you whistle to drum fills???
  11. And here I thought you were all going crazy to Helloween up there...
  12. Show a little respect, young man... :codger: To be fair...she was my age in that movie! Defining "goth" 50 years in advance... I didnt say her look was ugly. Just her face. What's this, internet trolling circa 2001?  PS: all in good humor, Segue, I allowed myself one last shot. There are tons of Divas from that era that I consider classic goddesses. Check out Ida Lupino for example. http://www.leninimports.com/ida_lupino_gallery_4.jpg Or every actresses that worked with Fritz Lang. But anyway, it might be "a thing" only for me.

  15. When was Elsa Lanchester ever sexy in a movie? :) http://halloweenfuntime.com/yahoo_site_admin/assets/images/the-bride-of-frankenstein-elsa-lanc.289141312_std.jpg My thoughts exactly. There's a shockingly racy (tame by today's standards, but technically NSFW) photo of her as the Bride (I believe taken as an early test shot). She's holding a knife in it. Should be easy to find using TheGoogler.Net or whatever. I guess it just depends on a persons definition of "sexy". :) What's yours? ;) :D
  16. Well, it does have that retro-steampunk-concept album revival thing to it, so it's a 10s album definitely...
  17. Virna Lisi died today. She was 78 years old. One of the greatest and most beautiful Italian Divas ever to grace a screen. Ask Lemmon.
  18. Today's Christmas treat is one of my favourite songs ever. I've been listening to this song since I was a little child! My mother used to buy me cassettes (yes, I'm that old) compilations of tv themes and cartoons, you know, children's stuff, and I'd play them to death on my mono cassette player (yes, I'm that old). Anyway, this is the closer an Italian band ever came to write a... British folk song. Written especially as a closing theme for a tv adaptation of Stevenson's The Black Arrow (which also gives the song its title), it's still a great song with a lot of punch. Enjoy!

  20. I like The Hurting better than Seeds... They were more honest on their first record. And what about Songs from the Big Chair?
  21. I knew what you had posted even before opening the link. Yeah, that early 80s "elf" fashion was simply... out there. No wonder they changed to ties and jackets to get the girls. Point is, it's somehow making a comeback... Now that I think about it, Spandau was strictly a "girls" band in Italy. Durans were also getting a lot of girls but also boys, due to their "Wild boys" crap and all. How was here in America?
  22. Great song and great video! It's my favourite Radiohead song ever. I sometimes use the video in my classes. It's interesting to see the reactions of young kids that never saw it before. It seems to be my favorite as well. And cool! I love teachers  A couple of years back, after playing this video, I said to the class: bring me a video YOU like. This beardo freak alternative-chic hip-hop kinda guy, very creative, very committed, came up with a - if I'm not wrong - Nicky Minaj video. It was shot in a pool during a party, it's all I remember. It was terrible. But this kid was totally into it. I mean, really. He was like: look at the shooting, the coreography (what coreography?), the editing, the colors, is all top notch! To me, it looked like something shot with a phone. Oh well, he'll grow out of it.
