I think PJ is one of the most over rated bands ever. Darlings of the critics and enemies of the "man" are 2 reasons they were so popular. Their music, i find very dull. Black Crowes do very little for me either, but they rocked harder, so i would choose them.

I would have gone with Fire Woman over Wild Fire. I was going to say Fire Woman, but think Wild Flower shows their rock side more.

Is Alex Lifeson in your top 3 personal fave rock guitarists?
Mithrandir replied to Texas King's topic in Rush
Page Lifeson Hendrix Hon.mention -Neil Young -
Rush. Not close at all. Queen made some solid music in the 70's. But Rush made incredible music. Queen was more accessible to the masses, so they were much more popular than Rush. But not better!

The southern rock titans: ABB or Lynyrd Skynyrd?
Mithrandir replied to Texas King's topic in Music Of The Spheres
Why? Skynyrd is a great band. -
Bob Mould is so criminally underrated. :( Is he really underrated? Or just commercially unappreciated? You have a very good point. I remember a statement that went something like this, "Every time a drop of Mould's sweat hit the ground another guitarist was born!"

Lacuna seem to lack the ability to write solid riffs or hooks. They are just another rock/heavy metal band with a chick who has a nice voice. They make noise and call it music. You love them. I get that. Sometimes our favorite bands aren't really that great, but our love for them clouds our ears. :)

I was on there for a bit. Decided to leave after a while because not much is happening there. It's a good thing you weren't on there half a decade plus ago. I'm positive you wouldn't have liked it. I have been on there since it began. I've always enjoyed it.

There are a lot of pretty witty people on CP. I know. I' have been one of them!

The big classic rock clash: The Rolling Stones or The Who?
Mithrandir replied to Texas King's topic in Music Of The Spheres
Stones. Many many more songs that kick ass. -
CP is still going strong! Actually it's not that strong...Actually pretty weak..sigh...

I disagree very much with your opinion. I can imagine that his lyrics seem the way you describe them to others who are also pompous, self-important and faux deep. Sort of like jealousy. He provides the listener with much more than the goofy, meaningless lyrics that most bands write. He makes the listener think and actually learn something while listening. I learned what the word "cacophony" meant while listening to Bastille Day almost 40 years ago!! And i still use it and baffle others who have no idea what it means!! :)
