  1. Some songs trigger scenes in my mind that don't really exist. The words and music of the song create a particular place that is only a fabrication of my mind. One group whose music does this for me quite a lot is REM. Especially their first 2 albums. And the scenes are usually in a hot summertime setting...small town...sort of empty...a lazy day of not much happening. "Available Light" brings back the memory of walking through the cemetery near my house and listening to it. The cemetery is set up on a hill with a great view of the river and surrounding towns. I used to love walking up there on sunny days listening to this song. "Dreams" by Mac and "Things we do for Love" by 10CC take me back to the local swimming pool, circa 1977, where it was packed all summer long with the loudspeaker blasting out music all day. For some reason these 2 songs are the ones that I remember.
  2. Telephone is a very cool tune. Britney screwed that up! Please don't get me wrong...I didn't mean to slate her. I love pop music lol! Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Beyonce, Ed Sheeran...love them all! Lady Gaga I adore but I love her as an icon and person more than the majority of her music. I really like Swift and Grande has some songs i enjoy. Awesome!!! Yeah I have always loved pop music. I can't listen to rock and metal all the time haha!! Huge T-Swift fan here! Nearly ten years a fan now...never remotely disliked anything she has done. Yeah i love me some sugar-coated pop music!! I argue with my good friends all the time about the merits of pop music, but it falls on their tone deaf ears :)
  3. I have a hard imagining an elevated Rush fan could say that. I'm a long time fan of both, but MD is superior is most ways What does being a Rush fan have to do with evaluating the music of Metallica and Megadeth?

  5. Exact opposite here. Vocals are the first thing i focus on. I have listened to plenty of bands over the years who had music that i liked, but the vocals were not appealing. Hence I never listen to those bands. Wait, are you sure you like Rush? ;) Lol! Geddy is probably my favorite vocalist.
  6. I absolutely love The Fame, Fame Monster and Born This Way. Not so much the last two albums.
  7. Lady Gaga's music is certainly NOT meaningless. Why do you think it is meaningless? "Mostly". So why "mostly"?

  10. Good for Dave. Metallica still wipes the floor with Megadeth though.
  11. Tempus. by a lot One of my top 5 Yes songs.
  12. Debut Imaginos Tyranny Mirrors Spectres Never really liked Agents as a whole all that much.
  13. No it wasn't. Maybe your musical taste just sucks? :)
  14. I'm certainly no die-hard fan. Rush have done plenty of things that I don't care for. It's just that Tai Shan isn't one of them. What are the songs you don't care for then? :D A good chunk of Test for Echo and Roll the Bones (particularly the vomit-worthy chorus of The Big Wheel).I often say Vapor Trails is my least favourite, but thinking about, I actually enjoy most of the tracks when play individually...it's only when played as a continuous album that it defeats my attention span. Chorus of Big Wheel is awesome! One of my favorite songs from Rush
  15. Anthem circa 1977. Heard it on the radio and guitar riff just blew me away!
  16. Bizarre. The RIver is a stone cold classic. As is Born to Run. Darkness and The Wild Innocent are also pretty solid throughout.
  17. Appetite not even close. And i love Back in Black.
