  1. Seriously...agree i never heard one song that made me personally go..........oh i see it these guys are great. like seriously......not one. maybe when they came out grant you.....but now they just sound like your typical bar band to me. Mick If you don't think "Bitch" is a great song then just...man...
  2. Ah. The album where the hacks preach to the choir and attempt the be politically relevant and insightful. As for the other point, I will pass. ;-) American Idiot is THE best album of the 2000's. It has more great hooks on any single song than most bands have in their entire careers.
  3. So very wrong. People love their music because from 1965-1975 they made excellent music. Which society says that one should revere the Stones?
  4. Radiohead are the most boring and over-hyped band in the history of recorded music!
  5. Queen is comprised of excellent musicians and songwriters. It's fine to dislike their music (although I cannot understand that!), but they are a fantastic band. one of the greatest in rock music.
  6. So creating riffs that are some of the greatest in rock history is over rated????
  7. But how did the Police do Rush in the 80's? :)
  8. Superconductor is a kick ass tune!
  9. Far Cry..then Spindrift..then Larger Bowl. Armor and Sword is among my least favorites on the album.
  10. Steppenwolf's album "The Second" is pretty damn good. One of those albums that just sounds like the 60's.
  11. Does Bob Marley sound as good if one is not stoned?
  12. KISS...but only up to and including Love Gun. After that they are no longer KISS in my book :)
  13. I will list the 5 bands that have consistently brought me the most joy throughout my lifetime: Rush Led Zeppelin Beatles Mary's Danish Pat Benatar ( if you need a BAND then substitute Husker Du)
  14. Absolutely. The fact that song was one of their most well known and best received songs in their live set was all an illusion. Futher proof is that the album went platinum and how crazy everyone went when they opened their show with it on the CA tour. Yeah, that's exactly the reaction a song that puts people off would get. I take the Signals criticism around here with a grain of salt. You have people who post in the “rank the albums” threads that MP and PeW are in the bottom 50%, well behind anything released after them. You rate AFTK low so shut the f**k up That's because it's incredibly overrated. Cygnus X-1? Often atonal. Madrigal? Not good. Title track? Overwrought and overrated. Take Xanadu off that album and you'd have a problem on your hands. Whoa!!! :) Cygnus is fantastic. The title track epic. Madrigal is so-so. AFTK is a magnificent chunk of rock/metal!
  15. Most exciting game in years!
  16. Page's solo on TSRTS version of Stairway is probably my all-time favorite guitar solo (at least today)
  17. Never impressed with that Schenker solo that everyone gushes about. The LVS solo is fantastic though.
  18. My 5: Murders in the Rue Morgue Phantom of the Opera Die With Your Boots On Powerslave The Evil That Men Do
  19. Wen to see the Rush cover band Lotus Land. The good: They were very good musicians Getting to hear Rush songs in a concert setting was fantastic The Bad: Set list included some bad choices in Red Tide (I like this song, but it shouldn't be in a set list of 18 songs), BU2B (are you kidding me!) and Show Don't Tell ( i know it was the "hit" from Presto, but geez pick another classic tune instead) The only pre-2112 song was Working Man The mix was terrible and the sound was way too loud for the size of the venue (maybe 250 seats or so).
  20. You chose the 2 worst songs from PoW. No. The two worst songs from PoW are Middletown Dreams, and Emotion Detector. Absolute dreck. :boo hiss: Middletown Dreams is a fantastic song!
  21. This Old House
  22. You chose the 2 worst songs from PoW.
  23. Misfire - Queen All I Want - Offspring
  24. Agreed. The run of albums from Caress through to MP leave me breathless. That might be my favourite unbroken album streak in music history. Springsteen and Paradise Lost are the rivals for me haha my fav is still Elton from 71 to 75. but Rush is up there. Mick Husker Du: Zen Arcade-New Day Rising-Flip Your Wig. Three incredible albums in a 15 month span (July 1984-September 1985)
  25. It iiiis pretty bad, objectively. How? I'll confess that I find much of the beloved epic-era sophomoric, pretentious, and overindulgent. It's very self-aware... So basically prog-rock :)
