  1. Hi All. Just feeling the loss again. Can’t imagine how his family feel.
  2. Still missing you Neil, glad I have here to come back to once in a while to share the memories.
  3. I love you too Neil. I love how your lyrics expanded my world and my attitudes and made me a better person. I never met you but you touched my life profoundly. You were my only friend for a long time, the only one who got my experience. I don’t pretend to have know you but you moved me, you moved me. I can’t imagine how your family and brothers feel now, but I feel for you deeply. I want to watch that wonderful video of you having dinner with Geddy and Alex sometime soon and share a tiny bit of the good times in your life. Life was wonderful and cruel to you. I hope Olivia will be ok about this one day. Though I live on the other side of the world, chance has it that I will be in Toronto shortly. I’m going to go to Lakeside Park and leave a memory for you.

    The Garden

The whole album is a metaphore for Neil life.

Funny..... Care to define why it isn't a masterpiece? So far none of you negative nancys haven't done that. I am astounded that anyone would even consider using the word "masterpiece" with this album. It is an incremental improvement over the last two albums. Because: You just don't get it. Man, this album really is a masterpiece. Could be the best Rush ever put out...maybe Masterpiece i tell you---Masterpiece. I second that emotion I'm with the masterpiece crowd. I reported it was when it was released and I stand by my statement even more now. I believe you were, and are, on the money. It is quite beyond anything we were hoping for...it is endlessly listenable...with or without a story line. Kudos my brother...you made my top five reviews! Excellent work I just want to see more cool boxes within boxes.
  6. OK...in my digital booklet the words for Halo Effect are under the Carnies title and visa versa. So you guys have been discussing this for weeks....right?

    The Garden

I'm sure that this song is autobiographical in respect to Neil. His garden, his family, and his legacy as he sees the end of his career and his approach towards 60.
  8. 33 years for me. The events of my life are illustrated and marked in my mind by Rush songs. They are the theme song to my life.
  9. Are they really going to pay a string ensemble to follow them around the whole tour? Perhaps they'll do it for a few shows. Now.....ok I can see The Garden is slightly emotional and is in a minor key but it is not crying material...come on....
  10. You guys haven't had had a decent hamburger yet....not until you have had a hamburger with the lot in Australia. It includes the 100% prime beef pattie, bacon, egg, pineapple, beetroot,BBQ sauce, and cheese. Nothing like it...
  11. I agree that it could well be Nick R "conducting" Neil. It's really possible as we know he did conduct him....
  12. Just gotta say I love the stick click count in just before the chorus!
  13. Having an orchestra is the sort of thing that bands do if they have no ideas left, like Yes and Jethro Tull did.
  14. I think it's ok, probably just for the wiggly playing on it. The true test is if Jacob Moon could/would cover it. I don't think he would. Not a strong melody....
  15. The original comment is what makes this board so tiresome on occasion. Clearly we have a christian who is offended by what makes the band a "thinking persons" band. Really if you can't handle Peart's lyrics go somewhere else when they play Kumbaya. You can not think for yourself over there.

    Almost Got Arrested

US cops. Make sure you kiss their a** and stroke their ego.
  17. Doesn't help him. Bieber will be washed out and dissatisfied with life by the time he is 25. If he makes it to 30 i'll be suprised. At least his parents are going to retire rich.

    What if CA sucked

If they would write a few decent songs, not record crap ones and stop filling every space with sound they would have a decent record. I like S & A but it could loose 5 songs and have been much better.
  19. No one is saying anything about catchy hooks etc. It is simply that the songs melodies (the basis of ANY song) are not that good. Good melodies does not make it pop, it makes it a good song. Tricky playing and hard rock is why we all like Rush. These songs seem to me to be playing exercises where the melody ( the SONG) is a secondary consideration.
  20. Surely it doesn't take too much perception or imagination to work out why I mentioned whether you can imagine Jacob Moon playing these songs? When you take a song back to its basics and you have nothing but the melody you know how good it is. The songs simply don't have the melodic strength to match the playing skills. Can you imagine if Geddy was a mediocre bass player as opposed to what he actually can do. The songs wouldn't be the same. Good vocals for me are as important as the playing.
  21. People have mentioned the vocal melodies a bit in this thread. I think that vocal melodies in both of these songs are poor. The playing is awesome and the lyrics are great but they are simply not good songs. Can you honestly ever see Jacob Moon being able to cover them? Rush really need to work on song writing ability and only release the 8 best melodies they can write. Thats how we will really get another Moving Pictures quality album.
  22. QUOTE Here we go again. read my lips...THEY WILL NEVER TOUR AUSTRALIA. They sell 3 cds a year in Australia. Why would they go? Bullshit post! How would you know how many fans they have over there? You got stats? Dream Theater plays there. Surely Rush has more fans there then Dream Theater? If they played Australia, the venues would surely be full. yes.gif This post has been edited by tick on Apr 19 2010, 07:10 AM You are all class arn't you? Rush has never been played on the radio. I've heard it twice, both on specials, in 30 years. Rush has never ever appeared on album charts in Australia, not even in the top 100. No one knows who they are. The is a tiny music market with almost no support for hard rock at all. I once saw a Rush cover band in Melbourne (that had to accept no money to get a gig) and there were 20 people there. If they struggle to make enough money to make it worth touring South America how could they possibly break even in OZ? Finally look at itunes Australia, not even enough ratings to display stars for Snakes and Arrows. So are you being delusional or just a d*ckhead?

  24. Im trying to get tickets for Shoreline and all i can get is 3/4 of the way down the back. Same as last tour. This presale is a scam.
