  8. Saw this on RIAB. Didn't see it posted here yet, so thought I'd share. "According to a post on the Hudson Music Facebook page yesterday, Neil Peart gave an unannounced 1-hour drum class at The 16th Annual KoSA International Percussion Workshop, Camp & Festival at Castleton State College in Castleton, VT over the weekend. The Facebook post includes a picture of Neil at the workshop along with this caption: An unannounced class by Professor Neil Peart at Kosa/Vermont. A pretty special day... A special day indeed! Hudson Music also added the following details in the comments on the Facebook post: Neil did a great class and played drumset with a small percussion ensemble and he also played djembe with them to close out the class. A good time was had by all.... Wow. Thanks to Ken for the heads up." Here is the picture: http://www.rushisaband.com/images/201108/1971.f.jpg
  9. QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Aug 2 2011, 10:51 AM)Funny how people often don't look at the forum before they post: http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?showtopic=67810 Yup...and I apologized for that in the original thread. I didn't see it when I looked through the forum before posting. I was wondering how long it would be before someone brought it up here.
  10. Oops...sorry. Didn't see this one when I started the other thread. My bad.
  11. Just saw over at RIAB that there is new info regarding a "live performance" DVD from Neil, which was first hinted at in one of Neil's web site postings back in February. The new DVD, "Taking Center Stage - Lifetime of Live Performances", is due out on October 14 (although given Rush's history with DVD releases, don't be surprised when it is delayed a month or more). From the Music Dispatch site: "Filmed in various locations over the course of a year, Neil Peart takes you on a behind-the-scenes look at Rush's 2010-11 Time Machine tour. This includes rare and exclusive footage of Neil's personal pre-tour rehearsals and backstage events at a Rush concert (including a visit to the soundcheck, and an unprecedented backstage interview as Neil warms up for the show). Neil also presents a detailed look at every single song in the tour's set list. Each song features analysis and demonstrations by Neil, which are coupled with a detailed PDF eBook containing transcription of his parts. At the end of each song discussion, the viewer is transported onstage to a Rush concert to see the actual live performance of the song from the perspective of the drum cameras only. 6 hours, 40 minutes." Available for pre-order at Amazon now: here Ok, haters, do your thing. For the rest of us, something else that sounds pretty cool to look forward to. TMD
  12. QUOTE (Good, bad, andrush @ Jul 21 2011, 08:45 AM) I can't see this from my iPad but it seems interesting Good old "No Flash on an Apple Product"...
  13. You may recall from a few months back that Neil, Stewart Copeland, Danny Carey, and Les Claypool had got together at Stewart's LA home for an impromptu jam session. A neat little video is now available on Neil's website. Click here to enjoy (link is in the middle of Neil's homepage).
  14. Two off the top of my head: New World Man "He's old enough to....but young enough not to..." "He's noble enough to...but weak enough to..." "He's wise enough to...but fool enough to..." Half The World ...pretty much the whole song...
  15. Only two possibilities, really: 1. Used to capture crowd noise 2. Used to capture farts (yes, I know...46 going on 12) I'll go with #1, based on this: Click Here
  16. Hmmm...Doesn't Entre Nous focus more on the differences between two people and the fleeting nature of contact? I 've always thought Ghost Of A Chance to be a great song for weddings. It speaks to how two people can find each other, through all of the twists and turns of one's life, and find true and lasting love...sounds like a great wedding message to me! Either way, though, getting the green light for a Rush wedding song is awesome!
  17. QUOTE (bigalfan @ Jun 15 2011, 12:30 PM)Another guess: I "think" Alex might be getting into wine-making/owning his own winery. It seems to me I read that somewhere?? It certainly looks like it could also be a wine-label and that saying certainly sounds like something Alex would put on his brand. Very possible. I now seem to recall reading something about Alex and Geddy doing some kind of internship at a couple wineries not too long ago. Maybe these shirts are from that??
  18. I originally posted this in the "Austin Review" thread, but it kind of got lost among the actual on-topic review postings...go figure. Or, maybe no one really cares about this, but I figured I'd try it as it's own thread and see if anyone knows anything about this. I wasn't at the Austin show, but in looking at John Arrowsmith's official photos, I noticed that Alex and Geddy seem to be wearing matching t-shirts. The design on Alex's is larger than Geddy's, but it's definitely the same t-shirt. Alex: Click Here Geddy: Click Here Looks like it says "Veritas Ebrietas", for which a quick Google search reveals nothing specifically, but: Veritas = truth Ebrietas = drunkenness/intoxication (or some butterfly genus...but let's go with drunkenness/intoxication for now) So...Truth Through Intoxication perhaps?? Interesting perspective...but still wondering why they are wearing matching shirts, as I don't recall them ever doing that before.

QUOTE (bigalfan @ Jun 14 2011, 02:28 PM)QUOTE (The Mighty Dudad @ Jun 14 2011, 12:43 PM) Question - I noticed in John Arrowsmith's "offical pix", it looks like Alex and Geddy are wearing matching t-shirts. I thought I saw some latin on them, but couldn't quite make them out. Any idea what they were or why they were wearing them? No and no - sorry. Thanks anyway. Still curious about those shirts. They are definitely the same shirt, but the image is bigger on Alex's.
