  1. The Presto album is top 5 for me, and the artwork is fine. We will never enjoy a beer together. ;-)
  2. More like a whole wig... The only real dud is Superconductor. A couple others are middling (like War Paint), but the majority of the album is strong songwriting, though not groundbreaking as many have noted. Nobody can say the same about S&A. I think that when they went to that studio in upstate NY, Rush forgot to pack the suitcase that carried all their notes about musical arrangements.
  3. Oh, you people, squabbling over those early demo tapes. Real fans know that 2112 was their first album. LOL
  4. Let's see if this helps to get you into it more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5B_3q32dqXw Ha, thanks. I do love the bridge. Alex's harmonics, Neil's patterns...
  5. It's really an oddball recording. They've never sounded like that before or after. Take chances, and sometimes you fall on your face. Sometimes you just confuse people. And sometimes you make a 2112.
  6. My first live Rush album. I used to listen to it constantly, and watched the VHS tape a lot too. It's not their best live recording, but it's damn good. I don't even like The Big Money, but I liked Alex's live energy on the riff.
  7. Hahahaha ... excellent trolling. I'm in full agreement. Despite the plodding midtempo "songs" of S&A, at least that album doesn't make my ears bleed, like its predecessor.
  8. Yeah, contentious alright, because VT is one of the best albums the band ever released. It's so good that they slunk back to the album eleven years later with their tails between their legs and tried to change it. Definitely the best album, ever. lol
  9. Short answer: Neil was a musician, not just a drummer. He heard and replied to melodies.
  10. Honestly, I love all of them for different reasons. I'm much more forgiving of live concerts than of studio recordings.
  11. I really like the way La Villa Strangiato sounds on Alex's single-coil pickup on ASOH.
  12. The Weapon, live on GuP tour (via YouTube) What a goddamn amazing piece of music. Alex's solo is an absolutely glorious space fire.
  13. It's understandable. I don't have any photos of me at work either.
  14. Let's see yours then genius. Top 3: 1. MP 2. 2112 3. Signals Bottom 3: 17. Debut 18. VT 19. CoS The rest kind of shift around depending on mood. I enjoy HYF thru Counterparts a lot more than most people here: most of HYF, all of Presto, half of RTB, half of Counterparts.
  15. The Black Album is much easier to listen to than Death Magnetic or even their early thrash. That said, I don't see much reason to listen to them at all these days. Trujillo is the only interesting thing in that band.
  16. One of the better covers I've seen. Guitarist is spot on.
  17. Have you seen her recently? Oof. No, I haven't. This was about ten years ago. She looked very, very good, even as an older woman just waiting for a latte. I'm at least fifteen years younger but she still caught my eye. I think I caught hers too -- at least that's how I remember it.
  18. God, he's obsessed with swinging his own dick. I saw his pretty wife, Shannon, once at a Starbucks in LA. I kinda wanted to walk up to her and say, "You really don't have to be with him. Come be with me instead." lol
  19. Give Counterparts another chance. It's aged really well, unlike other recordings (cough**RTB**cough). I'd put the top 5 or 6 songs on the record against anything in their catalog post-SIG.

    Not a fan

Just when I thought I couldn't love him any more.... I've said that for years. Half their music is dinky little drugged-out children's songs.
