QUOTE (Batman @ Jul 28 2005, 09:02 AM) I love it big surprise I know. Even better now that they brought all the old Superfriends characters in it. "...all the old Superfriends characters..."?! You mean, like The Wonder Twins Zan & Jana, Wendy & Martin & that stupid grey dog, Apache Chief, El Dorado, Samurai, etc.?
  2. Now it's Saturday morning for me out here and what am I going to do? Go to work! I'd usually be sleeping!
  3. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jul 25 2005, 03:47 AM) QUOTE (Batman @ Jul 23 2005, 07:25 AM) QUOTE (Jack here: 'Superman Returns' takes place after the events depicted in 'Superman II', the studio is acknowledging the first two films, but disregarding the second two. Just FYI.) And I am sure everyone is grateful. This is starting to sound like its going to be right up there with Batman Begins as far as fixing a movie series that went very very bad. i was actually pretty shocked when i went to a blockbuster recently to see superman IV on the shelf. i pointed it out to my wife, and we were like, when on earth did they make THAT? am i the only one who never knew there was a superman IV? was it out in theaters or straight to video??? Part 4 was definitely in the theaters. It was even worse than Part 3 which I didn't think was possible. Actually I think it did alright at the box office that first weekend of release just because of the Superman name itself. Same with Batman & Robin. The theaters were packed when it opened but everyone (NOW) knows the movie was shite.
  4. Sounds like it could be a good one. I like the logo but the costume that I saw looks terrible in my opinion. They shoulda stayed true to the colors from Reeves' outfit.
  5. QUOTE (kazzman @ Jul 23 2005, 09:09 AM) QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Jul 22 2005, 08:05 PM) Chiklis was small? I haven't seen the movie yet so I don't know. 'Small' as in not muscular enough or too short or both? I was reading this fitness magazine which featured him and his training regime for the movie and he seemed to be in great shape. I haven't seen the movie yet (probalby will wait for the dvd), and as a comic reader (batman mostly though), Chiklis looks way too small as The Thing. I've always imagined the Thing being near the size of the Hulk. The Thing in the movie just looks like a normal guy who grew some rock on him. Not to be anal or comic geeky (but I probably am ), but originally in the comics the Thing isn't supposed to be tall...actually shorter than Mr.Fantastic. He should just be a bit bulky but not necessarily big like the Hulk.
  6. QUOTE (Cyclops @ Jul 23 2005, 06:50 AM) It was better than I thought it would be, but I didn't set the bar very high. The story was ho-hum, and Dr. Doom wasn't so much a villain as a brat who got his toys taken away. As for the heroes, I ended up liking Mr. Fantastic, (Ioan Grufford) even though his accent went barely hidden. Even though Michael Chiklis was great as the Thing, I thought he looked a little small. At least they didn't make the mistake of making the Thing CGI. A couple of things: -The Human Torch was by far the coolest part of the movie. His character and the effects they used to represent his power were awesome. - Mr. Fantastic's and Invisible woman have creepy powers. I never thought about it reading the comics, I guess because you know they're drawings, but in a real life context, they are really weird. -I love Jessica Alba. She is a super hottie, but she doesn't screm "super brainy scientist." It's not anything about hot women being unintelligent, because my wife's the hottest, smartest woman I know. I think she did well in the movie. -If there is a sequel, I hope they spend a little more time on the plot. This was the movie's weakest aspect. They're supposedly starting shooting a sequel as soon as spring next year. Chiklis was small? I haven't seen the movie yet so I don't know. 'Small' as in not muscular enough or too short or both? I was reading this fitness magazine which featured him and his training regime for the movie and he seemed to be in great shape.
  7. If it's the same movie that I think it is then I'd suggest finding it and renting it. It was pretty good at the time it was released. Now if I watch it I may change my mind since it could look severely outdated. But, still, try it out.
  8. Was that a remake? It sounds like a 70's movie. I think the director was John Carpenter.
  9. I worked closely with autistics from '96-'01. And though I no longer work with those with dissassociative disorders or other develpmental disabilities, I'd be very interested to read those articles and to know what the doctor says.
  10. Slacker, that's a great post. It seems like I've read that same article a few years back but it's always good to read it again. And again. And again. Thanks a bunch. If it weren't for Halper, I wonder how different ALL of our lives would've been since we might never have been introduced to Rush.
  11. Return Of The Jedi. They do some odd things to movies out here (I live in Japan and the movies are dubbed in Japanese of course)...the scene where Luke is going to save Han in Jabba's place: When they first show Lando (he was impersonating a Jabba guard) they flash "Billy Dee Williams" (in Japanese Kanji) right under his face. Why? I have no clue !
  12. QUOTE (Arndrake @ Jul 13 2005, 09:53 PM) He said he was learning from a book and a few lessons at the 'Y' EXACTLY ! You're up
  13. Ok. Where did Daniel Laruso originally learn karate? And, no, it wasn't from Mr. Miyagi but it is stated in the movie.
  14. All 3 were enjoyable but sequels? They should just leave 'em be. Hollywood greed at its finest
  15. QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Jul 12 2005, 10:43 PM) QUOTE (Arndrake @ Jul 12 2005, 04:25 AM) QUOTE (rickyrob @ Jul 12 2005, 04:14 AM)QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Jul 12 2005, 08:15 AM) QUOTE (Arndrake @ Jul 11 2005, 04:35 PM) Wait, I got one. Who did James Cameron originally consider casting to play the terminator? O.J. Simpson Is that a serious answer Test? It was a serious answer, and it was the correct one. I know, kind of threw me for a loop too. I guess Ah-nuld should be happy he got asked instead, because that part really was a coming out for him, even more so than Conan the Barbarian. Ye it seemed ludicrous to hear it but it is true next question.... What is the name of Marty's(Michael J. Fox) band that trys out for the dance in "Back To The Future"? the pinheads. i think
  16. QUOTE (rickyrob @ Jul 10 2005, 07:48 PM) This should be easy - I think http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y180/rickyrob/110600620370438000.jpg Hannibal. It's part of Ray Liotta's brain
  17. Can't see it. It won't come out here for a few months I think. In fact, I'm not even sure that'll it'll come. But I used to be really into comics so I'll definitely see it if I can.
  18. The John Water(s) flick CRY BABY with Johnny Depp. It's the only movie that I ever walked out of it in the theater. And I love Depp! I know that J.W.'s films are supposed to be 'like that' but dammit that one was awful.
  19. QUOTE (YXE-dude @ Jul 10 2005, 03:26 AM)this flick would be awesome if they laid off the focus on that family... becuase of it... I gave it a low rating. 7.5/10 7.5 outta 10 is actually a good rating, no? The son surviving wasn't needed and unbelievable...I was already stretching my imagination with Cruise escaping from all of those events. I did like most of it though. I just think the end came to quickly. And why was the grandparents house in perfect shape along with the grandparents, Cruise's x-wife and hubby?
  20. Big Lebowski: when Walter is smashing that corvette and keeps repeating "Do you see what happens Larry when you f*ck a stranger in the *ss?!" American Beauty: Spacey driving to the fast food restaurant, smokin' it up and singin' American Woman. Animal House: when the Dean tells Flounder his grade point average...0.2. "Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life"
  21. QUOTE (Phoenix @ Aug 24 2004, 12:05 PM)Thai Shan. The sog whitch get me hooked to Rush. Fantastic melody and I can see the view from the moountain everytime I hear the song. Mission is close to be #1. I used to think my favorite was High Water. But 2 weeks ago I actually was lucky enough to go to Tai Shan in China. And, being up there, just made that song make even more sense. Peart couldn't have described that mountain any better. I highly recommend ALL Rush fans to get out there. It's a bit of a task(in so many different ways) but it's all worth it.
