  1. QUOTE (Necromancer @ Oct 28 2005, 08:48 AM) Though I agree that the movie Freddy vs. Jason blew, the concept was cool. In that vein I would love to see a Mike Myers vs. Jason. I think it would be a more even keel movie. I didn't see Freddy vs. Jason. But I did think about Mike vs. Jason being a better choice. I also wondered if the creators thought the 2 were too similar so they passed on that option.
  2. In my 'honorable mention' list of comedies, I'd have to include The Party with Peter Sellers and Woody Allen's Take The Money And Run. Oh, I gotta disagree with millions of folks in that I hate Ben Stiller and I don't see why he's considered funny. I can only think of 2 movies where he's tolerable: Reality Bites & There's Something About Mary . To each his own, eh?
  3. QUOTE (R.G @ Oct 24 2005, 05:44 AM)as with most of these things i wish they wouldn't make the films so people would have to discover the stories and read the books themselves, its so much better I think so too. But many kids and adults these days can be enticed by said film to read the book(s). Although I always think it's better to read it first then viddy the film.
  4. I thought most of it was decent. But the final fight scene was pretty unimpressive to me. And actually I thought it looked a bit cheap.
  5. QUOTE (Necromancer @ Oct 21 2005, 11:30 AM) Very NOT dissapointed. They did much justice to Aquaman. I was a bit scared, but they pulled it off fine. I loved the JLA remark. It was straight out of the comics when Arthur tries to convince Supes to join on a full time basis. LOVED IT. I can't wait till next week's Vampire episode. Just seeing the preview clip with Marsters telling Clark that there's no such thing as vampires made me almost piss my pants. The show is about the best on tv right now. Loving it lots. Hope he runs into a young Bruce Wayne eventually. THAT would be awesome. What was said? And how was Aquaman portrayed?
  6. My memory banks tell me that the older bro played Rodney Dangerfield's character (Thornton Melon) as a kid in Back to School. And the sister played the princess in Conan the Destroyer. I really liked the episode where Kevin bought a guitar and joined a rock band.
  7. Either Spinal Tap or Animal House. 2 very funny movies that always remain funny no matter how many times I see them
  8. I think Ghost of A Writer also stated Joaquin Phoenix in Gladiator. Too right. What a worm! Kill your father, try to bed your sis, and slaughter the Roman Empire's most important general's family. Madsen was truly twisted in Reservoir dogs but I think my most hated villain would go to the warden in Shawshank Redemption. That actor (whoever he is) did such a good job in that I really hated him. He even had a brutal henchman (Clancy Brown as the Captain of the guards) doing the dirty work. That's a classic villain.
  9. Gallipoli...an Aussie film from years back starring a very young Mel Gibson. Check it out
  10. I loved the ones I've seen: Arizona, Fargo, Lebowski, O Brother, Ladykillers. Hard to say which one is the best but I probably quote Lebowski the most. When I watched Ladykillers in the theater, my girlfriend and I were the only ones laughing. But, then again, that kind of humor just doesn't translate well out here.
  11. Sounds cool. I haven't seen even one episode
  12. That song "Mmmm...bop" by Hanson a few years back. That chorus especially made me wanna . I refuse to post the lyrics!!!!!!
  13. Wasn't Guy Pearce in the running for Dent? I thought I read that he was up for the role since the 2 got along well in the making of Memento.
  14. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Oct 14 2005, 09:05 AM) How about Rocky vs. Sylvester Stallone? It will be kind of a reality television meets fictional movie character thing where the real Sylvester Stallone will fight his fictional creation Rocky Balboa for the championship of the world, or until one or both of them feel the whole thing is too ridiculous to continue. As a side plot, Adrian can have a secret lesbian affair with Talia Shire before Adrian dies in a tragic monster truck accident that completely devestates Rocky until Sylvester Stallone and Talia Shire convince him that Adrian (and for that matter he) never really existed. The 30-minute finale will have the three of them revisitng scenes in their minds from their real lives and from past movies, culminating in them hurtling through space in a scene very similar to the colorful, surreal ending of 2001. Now there's a movie I would see! Don't mind me... http://www.snowtalk.nl/forums/html/emoticons/whistling.gif Goob, sometimes I think you're constantly on acid. As for Rocky 6, it reminds me of that poster that they show in Airplane 2 (that's set in the future)....the poster is of Rocky part 38 (or some ridiculous number) and there's a decrepit geezer on it wearing boxing gloves and the star-spangled shorts.
  15. QUOTE (kazzman @ Oct 11 2005, 11:19 AM) yeah... we definitely need a forum for the comic geeks... But you know you followed Necromancer's points as easily as I did. And you know that they also made sense. Nec, actually I was just talking about a straight-up fight where they would meet for the first time and are forced to duke it out.
  16. QUOTE (NeilPeartFan2112 @ Oct 11 2005, 04:49 AM) QUOTE (kazzman @ Oct 10 2005, 02:00 PM) Again, Anybody else say we should rally to get a forum for the comic geeks of TRF? Once again. As I said, I'd probably be the first one there. Oh Necromancer, how would Batsy know about the Ultimate Nullifier if he doesn't know of its existence? One little Power Cosmic shot from the Surfer to Wayne's nuts would be instant death. All the brains and guile in the world couldn't stop that. Batman is the most dangerous man in DC if he has time to prepare. Surfer wouldn't give him that time. He makes Quicksilver look slow. Dammit, I thought I stopped being a geek after I finished high school. Guess not.
  17. QUOTE (kazzman @ Oct 7 2005, 11:28 AM)QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Oct 6 2005, 03:40 PM) I'd just like to say that I am very glad that this conversation isn't getting nerdy at all. We need a forum specificly for the comic geeks of TRF... Shit, I'd probably be the first one there. By the way, the Silver Surfer would beat the crap outta both Wolvie & Batsy simultaneously.
  18. QUOTE (DonnaWanna @ Oct 3 2005, 07:40 AM) Hells Yeah! that was a great funny movie! I cant remember the last time i saw it. loved the part when the one kid is translating to the house cleaner (i think it was) In spanish what the Mom wanted done and he was totaly addin his own words to it..Scared her off for sure That One Eyed Willy sure was a sneaky the way he hid his ship That was none other than Corey Feldman. He always seemed to be playing a little punk in those 80's flicks. But he did it so well. What a great flick! It still reminds me of the adventures my friends and I used to get into at that age.
  19. I can't see Myers as Moon. I just can't
  20. Sucks I can't see it. Dylan's up there on the same pedestal I put Rush and Bob Marley.
  21. Man, no apology needed. I wasn't upset. I thought you were that's all. By the way, I chose 'JohnnyBlaze' mostly for the Rush reference to GR. But I do like the character of course. As for Cage, I used to like him (Raising Arizona and earlier). I'm not sure how that flick will be but you're right, it's great that he likes comics and that character. He's sure to try his best and handle the role with the utmost respect. If you didn't know already, Nic took his name from Luke Cage. Now that's a character that needs to be adapted for the screen. Oh, Schlongmacher was the worst thing that could ever happen to Batman (and for comic book adaptations).
  22. QUOTE (Necromancer @ Sep 29 2005, 10:22 AM) QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Sep 24 2005, 08:08 PM) QUOTE (kazzman @ Sep 25 2005, 09:57 AM)QUOTE (tst4eko @ Sep 24 2005, 08:59 AM) If The Joker is in the sequel, does anyone think Jack Nicholson would be approached to play him again or do they just get a younger actor to play him? Why approach an actor who's nearing 70 to play a character in his late 20's/early 30's? QUOTE Jack has such a way with that character. And yet he wasn't playing the Joker at all. He was just playing Jack Nicholson in white makeup and green hair dye. True. He did a very good rendition of 'Tim Burton Joker' though. Wow... i almost passed out but finally someone proved they actually READ BATMAN. When Test said that Liam was killed in the first movie, i about died, but thankfully batman straightened him out. THEN when someone posted about NICHOLSON having played Joker well.... ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!! And seriously... what the hell does "he played Tim Burton's Joker well" mean??? There is no Tim Burton's Joker. There is JOKER. That is all. The best writer in the world can't begin to work for DC and f**k with the JOKER. This is what made the films blow. Fist off, the films were always about the VILLIANS. Batman was secondary to the bad guys and that's just wrong. But the portrayal of all the villians were also campy and a joke. NO PUN INTENDED. While i admire Nicholson in just about everything he's ever played, i could kill him for his "twist" on the JOKER. He was PATHETIC and anyone who thinks otherwise has NEVER read Batman, or if they have, they don't get it at all. This is not an opinion either folks. READ THE KILLING JOKE or DEATH IN THE FAMILY. In some strange way Ceasar Romero may have actually done more justice to THE JOKER than Nicholson did because he actually conveyed the insanity that drives him. The best portrayal yet has been the voice work of Mark Hamill in the animated series. Sorry to come off as a Batman snob, but that's what I am. I have been disgusted to no end by the horrible mishandling of such an amazing character and it was with shock and joy that i finally saw a version that was about as perfect as a movie adaptation can be with BATMAN BEGINS. Bale is PERFECT. The only thing he needs to do is work on Batman's feeling of uncomfortableness as BRUCE. The essence of the character is that he IS BATMAN. Bruce is the false face. This is why he is so different than Superman in that at the end of the day, Supes is always Clark Kent. Batman is always Batman. Bruce is as much of a "character" as Matches Malone is. If Christian can somehow nail that part of the character he'll solidify his post as the greatest Batman EVER. Didn't think I'd upset anyone with a "Tim Burton's Joker" comment...I guess I did. For one thing, it's a movie ADAPTATION. I said 'Burton's Joker' because he himself was once quoted as saying he never really read the comics. So I was meaning to state that his 'Joker' was not the DC comics Joker. Yes, they're completely different. So I said what I said. If you look at other comic books that turned into movies, I can't think of any that was completely true to the magazine. That being said, it also doesn't mean that they weren't enjoyable.
  23. QUOTE (endlesslymocking @ Sep 27 2005, 09:45 AM)SWEET! Venom, I used to be an avid fan of the cartoon. And I was hoping to see venom in one of the films.. WHo's sandman? Sandman is basically a thug...a villain seeking monetary gain only. That's why I think he's probably the secondary enemy. But that's me assuming they're going to keep his character along the same lines as the comics. At the very least, I'm expecting him to look unbelievably cool. As for Venom, they're really gonna have to change his history for him to work in the movie. Fine by me but I'm sure hardcore fanboys will be crying a bit.
