Once went on a "club crawl" with Fish. Around 1984,and he stumbled drunk into my local club (The Hyde Park) He had been playing the Shuttorf Festival that day and had then driven 2 hrs to come to the club. I spotted him immediately (You can hardly miss him) and approached him. Great guy, who was obviously relieved to find a fellow Scot, as he had come on his own. He was great with me, but slagged off every other act that had played on the bill earlier that day. Once turfed out at 3 a.m, he demanded I took him somewhere else. So off it was to "Exile" which did not close till 7. Of course, despite being "A Big Fatty" he was famous, so he left me eventually and staggered off into the morning with the regulation "Blonde Bombshell" on his arm. Oh to be a Rock Star.

The 10 best '80s metal bands you've never heard of
foghorn-leghorn replied to foghorn-leghorn's topic in Music Of The Spheres
Anyone ever heard of the band Ozz? I thought they were a great but were never given any exposure. They featured that very rare commodity, a Black lead guitarist, namely, the brilliant Greg Parker. Here he is giving a "Hendrix" Like performance. This is an Instrumental, but they had some great vocal songs that should have made the radio at least. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fRO3sqWiTU -

All very obscure admittedly. Still, some interesting stuff for sure -
Met Steve Harris twice in Germany. It was 1980 and Maiden were supporting Kiss. Before the gig, I spotted him in the foyer, and asked him why there was no Maiden merchandise?. "It arrives tomorrow mate sorry about that" Next day was in Hamburg. Now in those days, there were always tickets held back for sale "On the day". I joined the huge queue in hope more than expectation, but minutes later, a kiosk opened, right were we were standing, and I bought tickets before pandemonium broke out. Inside, I made my way to the merchandise stall, and there was Steve again. "What the f#ck are you doing here?" He laughed.

Duffy, and that woman who sings in M-People.

Uli Jon Roth has a shocking singing voice. Almost unlistenable.
-
Good call, although if anyone is going to gatecrash this festival it will probably be Bono.
-
How will they agree on the order of play? I fear the ticket prices will be beyond belief.

Similar memories to many here. Discovering the band, then trying to convince others that this is the greatest band of all time. These days, anyone visiting my house for the first time, is cunningly interrogated on their music tastes "Never heard of RUSH watch this". I then hit them with Rush In Rio. I have more success these days.

Those prices are shocking. I'm seeing PIL next month. All tickets cost 35 Euro.

$5000 dollars seems a good deal, considering he has only made 530 in 3 years from them.
-
Oh They were so much fun live. Great band.

A real shock.

What do you generally think of commercials?
foghorn-leghorn replied to OldRUSHfan's topic in Video Vertigo
Simply don't watch them. I always switch to a music channel for the duration. -
Crimson Tide. Avoid like the plague .

I must admit, there have been reports he was shocked to be dropped so quickly. It's a awful way for it to end for such a decent guy.

Unpopular Artists you do like

Vanessa Daou is another artist who should be much bigger. Warning, she can get a bit "fruity"
