  1. It's possible that he's more potent now than ever. At 73, his sperm probably evolved by losing the tail and developing webbed feet.
  2. Kind of, but I doubt Jagger thought his boys could still swim at his age. So the baby was probably not planned. Wait, were any of his kids actually planned? I think his current wife is a ballerina, so she probably just bent the correct way so that his boys were just drifting downstream.
  3. To me it's saying that we are free as individuals to choose our own path through life. If some want religion and some don't, that's fine either way.
  4. I think that Presence is Led Zep's Vapor Trails and that's not a good thing.
  5. I've never had a rock star turn me off so much as Pete Townshend. I've seen so many interviews where he says how horrible it was to be in the Who that I want to puke. Am I supposed to feel sorry for him that he was an arrogant drunk back when he was still able to write good music and that he had to walk uphill to and from the bank with all his money? He's a douche who wants to complain because nobody pays any attention to him anymore. Don't even get me started on his questionable internet viewings either. He's gotten his "get out of jail free" card.
  6. It's between Sheer Heart Attack and Queen II. Since Sheer Heart Attack represents the band closer to their hey-day, I'll go with that one. I watched a little bit of the Queen Rock Montreal this past weekend and am in awe of what wonderful performers they were. Hard to believe it's been 25 years since Freddie's death.
  7. If you decide to watch...just make sure you have a strong heart, are not pregnant and do not plan on becoming pregnant. Consult your physician if you find a need to watch this show non-stop for more than four hours. Other than that...welcome to the club.
  8. One of the workers who helps the current "treasure-seekers" has talked on the show about having been possessed. I wonder if it's the same guy. He's evidently been working on and off at the island for a long time. I'd probably believe him a little more if he said that he'd seen pink elephants on the island.
  9. I enjoy the episodes where they are actually doing some digging (or diving). It's the distractions (new theories, crackpot of the week etc.) that drive me crazy. I hope the narrator makes a lot of money (or drinks a ton of coffee) to sound as excited as he does over every rusty piece of metal they find. They are currently showing a marathon on the history channel leading up to the new season. I can't imagine watching the show that way.
  10. There's just something about a treasure hunt that gets me going. Given that this particular treasure hunt is documented to have been going on since the late 1700's legitimizes it a little bit for me. Do I think there is anything to it? Probably not...but I do like the two brothers who own part of the island and are currently delving into the mystery. The excitement and disappointment that they go through seems honest to me. They do run tours of the various digs on the island and it certainly does seem like a beautiful area to me. My son teases me all the time about watching the show and nothing being found (in four seasons, they've found a single coin). My comeback is always to tell him "the show was only an hour long, ten more minutes and they would have hit paydirt".
  11. I think it's time for all the Rush tribute bands to rise from the ashes and conquer the world. Unfortunately, I've yet to see/hear any Rush tribute band that holds a candle to the original. Most have the instrumentation down, but the vocals are always lacking. And don't even try with more than three in the group.
  12. Does anyone watch this show on the history channel? I became fascinated with the story of Oak Island a long time ago when I saw the "In Search Of" episode about the island. It's a guilty pleasure of mine.
  13. Is that the album that has the cover version of that Spirit song?
  14. I'd like to hear them do the following Police songs... Message in a Bottle Synchronicity II
  15. The Beatles are a very strange case with me. Although I acknowledge that they were collectively the greatest songwriters of modern music, I never listen to them. As far as the Paul is dead thing, it's fun reading about the clues, but that's where it all ends. It's just marketing.
  16. My wife tolerates Rush, but she says I push it to the limit when I play Rush trivia with my kids at the dinner table.
  17. If music was like sex, my iPod wouldn't work anymore.
  18. Supertramp - Fool's Overture (Even in the Quietest Moments) Rolling Stones - Star Star (Goats Head Soup) Queensryche - Eyes of a Stranger (Operation Mindcrime) Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin (DOFP) Led Zeppelin - The Ocean (Houses of the Holy) Jethro Tull - Wind Up (Aqualung) Jeff Beck - Diamond Dust (Blow by Blow) Genesis - Los Endos (Trick of the Tail)
  19. If Alex and Geddy really want to continue as Rush, they will give Neil some time (possibly years) before presenting him with an ultimatum. At that point, the only thing he'll be able to do is give them his blessing to carry on. I doubt if he would be selfish enough to argue against it.
  20. I don't have anything of theirs past "Somewhere Else". I thought Marbles was great, but after a certain point, everything started sounding the same to me. I have a tough time listening to any Marillion anymore (Fish or H). I can't really put my finger on the reason why I stopped enjoying them altogether.
  21. Neil clearly doesn't want the end of Rush pinned on him alone. He's hoping the other two get around to his way of thinking. The problem is that it's not going to happen. If Neil was indeed done forever beyond all doubt he'd give the others his blessing to continue in any capacity they saw fit from here on out.
  22. Kind of off-topic, but I watched a Genesis documentary a while back where the subject of Peter Gabriel's leaving the band came up (sometime in '74-'75). Peter said that his first child was premature and the others didn't seem to understand the time away from the band that was necessary to deal with that situation. In the present, both Rutherford and Banks admitted that they were a bit disrespectful to Peter over that situation. They just didn't understand that the band wasn't the most important thing in Peter's life at the time. I can see some similarities in the current Rush scenario. We have three men who are roughly the same age, two of whom are free and clear for the most part and probably don't see a huge problem with dropping everything for three months to hit the road. Then there is Neil and his young family. Now I certainly don't think there is necessarily any disrespect going on between them (and some may argue that), but there does seem to be a little bit of friction. They all understand that time is ticking away for the "band" due to their ages. Neil just seems to be saying to all of them "I won't get pressured into another tour so, as of right now, don't even ask". Will he still feel that way after three or four years, who can say? It's possible that Neil's simply a little miffed that Geddy and Alex aren't coming out and saying "You know what, Neil's right, we're finished". Just that small hope that the other two are leaving out there may put unwanted pressure on him.
  23. I like Kansas, but I think their music has aged poorly to say the least. I saw them many years ago play at Hershey Park (around the year 2000 I'm thinking) and they were close to being a tribute band even back then. They played two one hour sets (with an hour break in between) and played the same songs in both. Very disappointing. The plus side was that they jokingly complained about not getting the top billing because of a puppet show.
  24. When I listen to many songs on RTB, I can't help but be reminded of that old Wendy's commericial "Where's the beef !!!".
