  1. Oh man I love this song, one of the best from HYF. Would love to see it on the next tour
  2. While I do enjoy the S and A version, the GUP version is the best IMO. Geddy's vocals were outstanding back then, so much emotion...
  3. One of the most emotive Rush songs musically. I didn't fully appreciate it on the Time Machine Tour, would love to see it brought back again
  4. No Headlong Flight? How can you have a Final Flight Tour without Headlong Flight? Look again.....
  5. In the spirit of the "Least favorite song from each album" thread, I thought it would be fun to pick the 3 best songs from each of the albums: Rush: Finding My Way, Here Again, Working Man Fly By Night: Anthem, By-Tor and the Snowdog, Fly by Night Caress of Steel: Bastille Day, The Necromancer, The Fountain of Lamneth 2112: 2112, A Passage to Bangkok, Lessons A Farewell to Kings: A Farewell to Kings, Xanadu, Cinderella Man Hemispheres: Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres, The Trees, La Villa Strangiatio Permanent Waves: The Spirit of Radio, Jacob's Ladder, Natural Science Moving Pictures: Red Barchetta, The Camera Eye, Witch Hunt Signals: The Analog Kid, Digital Man, Countdown Grace Under Pressure: Afterimage, The Body Electric, Kid Gloves Power Windows: The Big Money, Territories, Emotion Detector Hold Your Fire: Time Stand Still, Lock and Key, Turn the Page Presto: Show Don't Tell, The Pass, Available Light Roll the Bones: Dreamline, Roll the Bones, Face Up Counterparts: Animate, Nobody's Hero, Between Sun and Moon Test for Echo: Test for Echo, Driven, Resist Vapor Trails: Ceiling Unlimited, Vapor Trail, Earthshine Snakes and Arrows: Far Cry, Armor and Sword, Hope Clockwork Angels: Caravan, The Anarchist, The Garden
  6. FBN was before the Taurus pedal days. I'm not sure exactly what's going on here but I've read that it is something that Geddy is doing with his bass.
  7. AFTK.....what an album. It's my favorite Rush album (with Hemispheres and Permanent Waves not far behind). It's such a great album! It has the perfect blend of classic Rush sound with a touch of sci fi and medieval sprinkled in, and it has a flow and vibe that no other Rush album has achieved. I only wish I could have been alive when it was released...would literally give up an arm to see a Rush concert in the seventies
  8. I think Geddy could still sing it. He pulled it off just fine on the R30 tour, I don't think his voice has degraded much since then so I think it's very possible
  9. It really seems like something that would be possible, (considering they did it for S and A and they are absolutely in looooove with CA) but I feel like we would have heard something by now
  10. Definitely a departure, but yeah it's pretty cool. I'm hoping the rest of the album is a little more prog though
  11. Omar Rodriguez Lopez and Cedric Bixler Zavala (ex Mars Volta) have reunited to form a new band with Flea and Dave Elitch called Antemasque. As a huge Volta fan, I am extremely excited because I thought Omar and Cedric would never make music together again. Anyone else pumped?!?! It's gonna be some epic music!!
  12. I kind of felt AFTK had a good theme running throughout it. "Mankind's drive to leave a legacy" 1) AFTK (title track) - how the future world will look at us 2) XANADU - one man's drive for fame and fortune, leaves him locked as a prisoner of his own quest 3) Closer to the heart - King's and comoners and artisians using their skills to leave a legacy for betterment of sociecity 4) Cindellra Man - A guy using his fortune for the betterment of sociecity 5) Madrigal - something about love. And love lasts forever. 6) Cygnus X-1 - Man's legacy, to be the first person to visit a black hole. Ends up completely removing himself from the Universe, inorder to create a legacy. Your argument is sound except for one thing. Even love must be limited by time!
  13. Time Stand Still????? I don't understand that at all. I think it's easily the best song in the album; such a perfect marriage of music and lyrics.
  14. Rush can play what they want. All I ask is for a couple of rare 70s gems and a couple 80s gems. Cinderella Man? Turn the Page? Jacob's Ladder? Countdown? Please Geddy!?!? Please Neil?!?! (I'm sure Alex would be on board, no need to beg him haha!)
  15. Totatly agree with you on Territories. That's just awesome. My other favorites include: The main wall of sound in "Body Electric" The lyics "pilot of Anola Gay, Flying out of the shock wave, on that August Day." Numerous drum fills on Headlong Flight. And of course the greatest countdown in any shong, from "Fith Order of Angles" - In the End: "One, two, three, FOURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!" :haz: <-That is rock and roll, baby! Finally! I can never get anyone to acknowledge how dope that part of Territories is! And I wholeheartedly agree with you on your other choices, especially the "The Body Electric", such a unique Rush song
  16. And hear the whole damn song! Seriously, how long has it been since they played the entire song? I've seen them on every tour since 1991 and have never seen it played from start to finish (it was abbreviated on the Roll the Bones, CP and R30 tours). Yeah it's a damn shame. Honestly, I think that Geddy's voice holds them back from doing the whole song, he clearly struggles with the "For I have dined on honeydew and drunk the milk of paradise" part
  17. The second verse of "Territories", that sequencer pattern is off the chain! Also the chorus of "Xanadu", the solo section of "Cinderella Man", instrumental section and end of "Time Stand Still", second verse of "Lock and Key", first chorus of "Turn the Page", solo of "Between the Wheels" and "Emotion Detector", The synth solo in "Countdown", chorus and solo of "The Analog Kid"....I could go on for days!
  18. And please try to hold the camera on the guitar/bass/drums during the solo, instead of changing camera angles every three seconds. It always seems funny to me that Geddy oversees the editing because you'd think he could figure out that whoever is playing the coolest shit should be on screen! Lol
  19. Yes! I love your inclusions of Turn the Page, Lock and Key, Kid Gloves, and Afterimage! Those tunes are all super underrated. Although, the lack of 2112 is a bit disturbing...
  20. Great show that one was! Indeed it was. Truly life changing
  21. 1. A Farewell to Kings 2. Hemispheres 3. Permanent Waves 4. Signals 5. Power Windows 6. Hold Your Fire 7. 2112 8. Roll the Bones 9. Grace Under Pressure 10. Moving Pictures 11. Presto 12. Caress of Steel 13. Fly by Night 14. Counterparts 15. Vapor Trails 16. Clockwork Angels 17. Test for Echo 18. Rush 19. Snakes and Arrows
  22. From Red Tide: "The party is disrupted by an uninvited guest" I always hear it as: "The body is disrupted by an uninvited guest" Personally, I think my version is way cooler, Neil really screwed up with that one.
  23. Prime Mover is fantastic. Really hoping to hear that song on R41. It's gotta happen, it's been far too long! And I bet Geddy could do a nice job vocally (Not to mention what he would do on the bass!)
