  1. Lol, that's literally my least favorite Queen song ever. Approximately the only thing they ever put on a record that comes off as filler to me.
  2. I think fans of bands are as obsessive and loyal as ever, they're just splintered into many more different groups and fanbases than in the 70s, like the rock music scene in general nowadays. When you find an MCR fan, they love that band almost literally to the death. Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, Muse (one of my ultimate favs as you know), and just so many others. Fans are as or more obsessive and life-long than ever, they just don't all gather round the same band.
  3. It's not been underrated in the UK. Trust me. The point is whether or not it was misunderstood, which is not the same as underrated.
  4. Yeah you! It takes a little more persistence To get up and go the distance! Great ones there! :)
  5. From this list: Selling England By The Pound Animals Close To The Edge Hems has never been one of my absolute fav Rush albums, though Animals is my fav Floyd, CTTE is my second fav Yes, and SEBTP has grown on me to become approx. my third fav Genesis after initially finding it unimpressive. I'd take Foxtrot and A Farewell To Kings over all three.
  6. I can't go through a day without a spritz of Territorial Pissings. Gorgeous scent! Actually not what I was referring too, but that works even better.
  7. Simple concept, let's do it! Here's a few of mine! "Many is a word that only leaves you guessing, guessing bout a thing you really ought to know"--Led Zep, Over The Hills And Far Away "One and one don't make two, one and one make one"--The Who, Bargain "Lord of lords, King of kings, has returned to lead his children home, to take them to the new Jerusalem!"--Genesis, Supper's Ready "Cause love's such an old fashion word, and love dares you to care for the people on the edge of the night, and love dares you to change our way of caring about ourselves"--Queen and David Bowie, Under Pressure "The most endangered species, the honest man, will survive annihilation, building a world, state of integrity, sensitive, open, and strong"--you all know this one
  8. And yet Aerosmith did it with Toys in the Attic. I guess that argument can be made. I find Rocks is more consistent song for song and benefits from not having the overplayed radio staples "Walk This Way" and "Sweet Emotion". In the end, Aerosmith hit its peak with Pump. Yep! ;)
  9. And yet Aerosmith did it with Get Your Wings. Agreed ;)
  10. Soundgarden~Pearl Jam > Alice In Chains > > > > > Nirvana But where would we be without naked swimming infants and songs whose names sound like grungy perfumes?
  11. Yes and Zep I got this sudden urge when I started reading The Two Towers again...wonder why...
  12. The cover of an album factors into the equation of how much I like the album, as well as the equation for how interested I am in listening to it. However, the equation is different for each album, as sometimes amazing or awful music, b®and names, cited legendary or infamous status, or powerful experiences attached to the album will change my opinion of the album cover, or at least cause it to matter more or less. Compared to their other albums, Close To The Edge's cover kind of sucks (unimaginative, not representative of the sheer creative genius inside), however, the music being associated with it's cover makes me attach the two in my mind, and since the music has a more powerful effect on me than it's cover, my opinion of the cover changes for the better. It's not so bad, it's sort if ironic in a very classy style, and that is a lovely and mysterious shade/gradient of green.
  13. Also, for two days earlier this year Blackstar was highly misunderstood in the most literal and grave sense by all but those who could read as far into it's morbid and final tones as producer Tony Visconti, who has been quoted as realizing during the recording of the album that Bowie was writing a farewell piece. Just read the reviews of it published before the news came; they get most of the incredible awesomeness and experimentalism of the record, but just fail to understand the concept or the seemingly strange fascination with death and finality given only the album to explain itself. The reviews written later, or later edited to reflect Bowie's passing immediately understand the full nature and scope of the project: death as art.
  14. Speaking of Radiohead (I'm looking at you Mr. Not), Kid A was not well received by much of Radiohead's initial fanbase since it really wasn't a rock record at all, and though it built it's own fan base for them, albeit with a good portion of fans of their early stuff as well, it simply wasn't understood by those who couldn't perceive the group beyond the constraints of rock music. I wasn't more than 2 at the time, so this is only what I've gathered from reading, listening, and hypothesizing, but I believe the sudden divergence in sound caused enough confusion that the record must've been misunderstood by a good deal of people at the time.
  15. Cheesy Genesis tags aside, what are some of the most misunderstood albums of all time in your opinion? Not to be confused with simply unrelated, I'm talking genuinely misunderstood by the record buying public, whether just at the time of release, or still into the present day. Here's three to get the ball rolling (two of which I haven't heard but I've been told they do match the description): Led Zeppelin III (time of release) Weezer - Pinkerton (time of release) Queen - Hot Space (to this day!) Have at it! :D
  16. On! Happy Thanksgiving :)
  17. Off again! See you at Thanksgiving!
  18. The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour (vinyl) Ten Bucks again!! U2 - October (CD)
  19. Listening for essentially the first time rn. Very solid. I will note that it wouldn't take much to convince me this is Toto with violin, but then I can also fully recognize this as Kansas with more polished production and a little less urgency. I dig it. Might buy it if I get the chance and it's not too much.
  20. I get to talk to other music fans whenever I want? I love fan forums! Dissenting opinions will happen, and my opinion will be pressured towards them, but so many of them exist that I really feel better about it than if I only had one music fan friend to bounce my thoughts off of.
  21. It's the last with Morrison. They released three more albums after L.A. Woman. So then it's Morrison's swansong, no?
  22. I'm still holding out for 2017 ;) But CA does rock.
