  1. Put Seven Cities of Gold into Set B for either the St Louis or Cleveland Show. Pretty please with back bacon on it! Just slip out Wish Them Well and add Seven Cities.... I was excited after Jiffy Lube, but you guys switched it out, and now I can't sleep knowing I will miss it. I hope you all can understand that it's my second favorite song off of the album and it would be really nice if you rotated it back into the show. I will be front row at both shows, so please try to slip it into one of the shows if you can. Thank You. Your number one fan!
  2. Time to revisit this thread I started long ago. Some funny and great comments in here: http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?show...74399&hl=grammy
  3. You all are nuts. They are playing FIVE, 5, CINCO, FUNF, CINQUE, CINQ, V songs off of Power Windows!!!!!!! How is this the dream setlist? There are 10 albums not represented at all and nothing at all off of A Farewell To Kings, Hemispheres, and Permanent Waves. Nuts I say. All of you!!!!!!
  4. QUOTE (crazygeo @ Sep 12 2012, 07:29 PM)caress of steel counterparts farewell to the kings fly by night hemispheres test for echo vapor trails I am okay as a fan since 1978...tour member since 1981... But......why not cut out a Power Window song or so....and cut in a few from the above? IP.S I may have missed/messed up..but I didn't see any of these...... either way, another tour...maybe this is it? Yeas and don't forget Permanent Waves too!
  5. So, both nights Carnies is being played. This is a NEW change... Then on A set nights, 7COG is being played, and on B set Nights Wish Them Well is being played. No 7COG on B nights, No WTW on A nights. Like This: http://www.rushisaband.com/images/201209/2469.f.jpg Edited to add: I never ever thought I would ever see a Rush set list without a Permanent Waves song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Sorry all....just changed title. My very bad. I just started typing when I saw the changes on the setlist!
  7. God I can't believe they are dropping 7COG for WTW on B set nights. I would far prefer it to WTW... I want to see all three but I would gladly take Carnies and 7COG over WTW. I am polling to see which two songs are more liked.
  8. Jesus I am disappointed I won't hear 7COG. Damnit! That is one song I have been soooooooooooooo looking forward to hearing since day one. And I am seeing them twice! Sheeeeet!
  9. This board is filled with fans that like any and everything that the band does. I think that there are legions of fans out there that love the band and are critical of the band. That being said, I have close relationships with several 30 year plus fans that are baffled at the set list. Will we forfeit our tix and our trip to see them? Hell no. Are we amazed that we are seeing the Clockwork Angels/Power Windows Redux tour? Absolutely. I can totally relate to what the OP is trying to say. When you go see a band of Rush's caliber touring after a new album you expect to see them play bunches of songs off of the new album and one or two off of other albums and the big hits off of Permanent Waves, and Moving Pictures. Since they just finished the Moving Pictures Re-Tour, it makes sense to go lightly on that. But on the 30th anniversary of Signals, one doesn't expect the band to skip totally 10 albums (except 2112 on B set encore and Reggae Working Man which has been played to death) and see 5 songs from Power Windows and leave off songs that would have made a perfect strings tour like Losing It, Chemistry, the Chorus on Analog Kid, Countdown, ....wait am I suggesting songs celebrating the 30th of Signals???? also Jacobs Ladder...hinted by Alex now for the last three tours, also perfect with strings, nowhere to be seen. SO....all of that being said, go ahead and flame away but the truth is, there are lots of folks scratching their heads here. And for 25% of folks on a poll here not excited about the new set, a place where a lot of fan bois and gals hang out, in the real world there will be many more. Those who buy tickets out there to see them rock on tour the likes of Freewill, Natural Science, 2112, Xanadu, The Trees, The Spirit of Radio, Limelight, Red Barchetta, will be stumped. I will be there because I am always there. I would go see them bang sticks and bricks together. I know it will be a blast, but it seems weirdly thought out. In this decade, the simple fact that we have these guys to see at all after nearly 40 years, we really need to be happy with anything that they put out, but we can ask questions and comments regarding their choices.

QUOTE (Tombstone Mountain @ Sep 11 2012, 10:37 AM) QUOTE (vital signz @ Sep 11 2012, 06:37 AM) The Clockwork Angels-Power Windows Tour I mean, c'mon The first set has 4 of 10 from Power Windows, and another PW song added within the second set Seems to me with 19 studio albums to choose from that this wasn't thought out very well. The only thing I can figure is that they wanted a break from their staples for this tour since they plan on pulling them out in two years for R40. Still with the orchestra there, they surely missed golden opportunities to perform some songs that we most assuredly will never hear live. Every PoW songs was EXCELLENT. You're gonna love it buddy. I don't have a problem with it at all because it's still great music. Geddy's voice needs to sing this kind of stuff at his age. The comments and reviews are excellent. I can't wait!

  13. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Sep 8 2012, 09:28 AM) QUOTE (spock @ Sep 8 2012, 07:35 AM) My guess is that this is the list that THEY wanted to spend 3+ hours playing. Looking over my collection of concert DVDs, I am glad to see so many songs that haven't been played live for awhile. We'll never agree on what should have/could have/would have been a better list, but I'm just glad to see them touring and playing ANYTHING! Won't get to see them live this time around so I can't wait for the DVD to hit the stores Yes, I think this is the set THEY wanted to play... with very little consideration for what the audience wanted to hear. Yes, nobody will agree 100% on what should and shouldn't be played... but, come on! I'm willing to let a couple keyboard era stinkers (eg, Red Sector A) go by, knowing my favorite stuff from 77-81 may be coming around, too. This time, though, my time didn't really come, and the keyboard lovers had a feast. Given the blatant lopsidedness to the represented eras, I must believe that the guys INTENTIONALLY made this a "keyboard era" concert. I'm a little upset by that. Agreed
  14. QUOTE (jesse2112 @ Sep 9 2012, 09:23 PM) QUOTE (FountainOfSyrinx @ Sep 9 2012, 09:22 PM) And BTW, very few are saying WTF. Most of us are still walking around with the chubs we got on friday night. Wrong. You are wrong. Many many fans are disappointed, that I know. It was set up to be a golden opportunity to play stuff that would have crushed all expectations. Just weird what they went with.
  15. I totally agree with the OP. It is disappointing given the set up and no Losing It? No Jacob's Ladder? No Different Strings? Hell, I would go to see Rush play a concert playing bricks and sticks, but I am disappointed. I am sure it will be very very enjoyable. But it's not what it could have been.
  16. This thread stinks! Honestly I cannot remember when I laughed so hard! HHHAAAAAA!!!!!.....whoops.....there goes one!
  17. Agreed. No comparison. First, the effort that went into that song....all 9:35 of it. Beautiful classical guitar intro The slow build into the power chords The sections of all of the song, each so well composed and tightly played: I. Buenos Nochas, Mein Froinds! (0:00) II. To sleep, perchance to dream... ( 0:27) III. Strangiato theme (2:00) IV. A Lerxst in Wonderland (3:16) V. Monsters! (5:49) VI. The Ghost of the Aragon (6:10) VII. Danforth and Pape (6:45) VIII. The Waltz of the Shreves (7:26) IX. Never turn your back on a Monster! (7:52) X. Monsters! (Reprise) (8:03) XI. Strangiato theme (Reprise) (8:17) XII. A Farewell to Things (9:17) 12 parts all perfect. The emotion is palpable. The delicacy of parts, the intensity and power of others. Broon's production and mixing is impeccable. I believe it is the single best rock instrumental ever recorded.
  18. f**k. I love it. I love is as an adjective, noun, verb, and adverb. It is the greatest curse word. "f**k f***ing f*cked f*cker f***ing fuckups f**k f***ing f*cked f***ing fuckup f***ing f*cker's f***ing fuckup." is a grammatically correct sentence first said by Lewis Black which can often be used as an example of how homonyms and homophones can be used to create complicated constructs. The sentence consists of fourteen consecutive uses of various variations of the word "f**k", a word famous for its versatility. The sentence has been discussed in literature since 1872, when it was first used by Queen Victoria, currently an associate professor at the University of f***ing. Sentences of this type, although not in such a refined form, have been known for a long time. A classic example is the proverb "Don't bone boned bones until boned bones bone you". editSentence Construction For those without comedic tastes, the so-called experts at Wikipedia have an article about f**k.... Look up f**k in Undictionary, the twisted dictionary The sentence is unpunctuated and uses eleven different readings of the word "f**k." In order of first use, these are: The exclamation "f**k!", often used by someone who is angry, scared, shocked, or experiencing intense pleasure or pain, or any other emotion for that matter. The adverb "f***ing", which is used two different ways in this sentence. In this first case it is used to enhance an adjective. Example: "That girl is f***ing sexy!". The adjective "f*cked", meaning drunk, stoned, or on fire. The noun "f*cker", meaning "unpleasant person". The adjective "f***ing", used to enhance a noun. Example: "Stop fantasizing about your f***ing mum!". The noun "fuckup", meaning someone who is clumsy and incompetent, and destroys everything they touch. See American. The verb "to f**k", meaning "to screw over". The adverb "f***ing", this time used to enhance a verb. Example: "You f***ing shot me!" "What the f**k?!" The verb "to f**k (up)", meaning "to destroy" or "to ruin". The verb "to f**k", meaning "to have sexual intercourse with". The noun "f**k", meaning the act of sex. Marking each variation of "f**k" with its use as shown above gives: Fuck1 fucking2 fucked3 fucker4 fucking5 fuckups6 fuck7 fucking8 fucked9 fucking5 fuckup6 fucking10 f*cker's4 fuck11. Thus, the f***ing sentence when parsed reads as follows: f**k! (The) f***ing f*cked f*cker (whom) f***ing fuckups f**k f***ing f*cked (up the) f***ing fuckup-f***ing f*cker's f**k! f**k! The f***ing f*cked f*cker (who is f*cked by f***ing fuckups) f***ing f*cked up the f***ing f*cker (who f*cks fuckups)'s f**k! Complete understanding of the sentence can be achieved by substituting all of the words with synonyms or similar expressions: The very unpleasant drunk man, who is often screwed over by really incompetent people, badly ruined the bloody incompetent-person-shagging man's sexual encounter. As well as demonstrating how complex sentences can be made using consecutive repetitions of certain words, this sentence also demonstrates how versatile the word "f**k" is. No other word in the English language can form a sentence as long and complex as this example. Linguists everywhere encourage people to make more sentences like it and use this unique, flexible word as much as possible, as it will increase one's speaking skills considerably. Frequent use of the word also increases the efficiency of data communication, as documents with a high f***ing f**k Density (FFD) can be compressed by as much as fifty percent; a technique often used in Samuel L. Jackson movies to keep the file sizes of the scripts down to a minimum. This article, for example, has an average FFD of 2.476 f*cks per Sentence, approximately equal to that of the film Pulp Fiction.
