NO clue. I did read a series of books for young girls. They were historical fiction books all based on this place called "Wild Rose Inn". So the books would be like "Jill of the Wild Rose Inn" for example. Each book had to do with a different time in history, ranging from the revolutionary war time to WWII in New England. I LOVED them. Each character was related through the years and it told stories based around that time. I remember one of them written in Prohibition time, the Inn becamse a speakeasy. They were really cool! They showcased strong female characters and gave a history lesson at the same time.

Edgy and Janie: I think you guys might be right about the tension headache thing. I do suffer from them often (like all day today, argh!) since that's where I hold the stress in my body. I like to think running releases that! But I think what you both said makes sense. Janie, to answer your question specifically, my headaches are more temple-temple than right on top or in the back of my head. I know I'm hydrated since I drink some water before and after, usually my nalgene combined (32 ozs). I also make sure to take sips while exercising (not gulps of course). I know the few times I did Pilates, that did wonders for relaxing. I could maybe when I come home from the gym, do about 10 minutes or so just to stretch and really calm down.

QUOTE (troutman @ Sep 9 2008, 12:40 PM) QUOTE (iluvgeddy05 @ Sep 9 2008, 09:35 AM)QUOTE (troutman @ Sep 9 2008, 11:42 AM) QUOTE (iluvgeddy05 @ Sep 9 2008, 08:22 AM)I have a question for all the runners out there: I'm by now means a "runner", but I like to run the treadmill at the gym, both for exercise and stress-reducing's sake. I start by walking for couple minutes, jog then run at a bout 5.5-6.0 speed, then cool down with another 3-5 minute walk. All this is on a .5 or 1.0 incline. I can't run a lot, but I try to do my best. My thing is, I can get such a bad headache afterwards. It's not sudden, more when I get home after the gym. I don't feel I over-exert myself and again, I'm only running 20-25 minutes or so at a time because I'm not really in the best shape. I drink plenty of water and make sure I breathe evenly so I'm not sure what the deal is. Anyone else get this? This is one of the main reasons I can't workout first thing in the morning because I feel like poo the rest of the day. Personally, I can never workout in the morning. I am not a morning person at all, so working out is the last thing I want to do. Not sure about the headache problem. Do you eat anything prior to working out? If not, that's probably the problem. I usually eat dinner around 5pm and workout around 7:30pm. Perhaps it's what I'm eating, but that varies every night of course. Is it possible to workout/run before dinner? For instance, I run right after work then go home and have dinner around 7 or so. Well, I could try on lunch I guess, but I did that one time, still the headache. I have more energy at night as opposed to after work. Maybe if I eat less. I can try that Thursday (I have class tonight and tomorrow night)

Haven't had the Pale Ale, but I've had the Amber Bock (sp?) on tap and it's pretty damn good, considering Michelob makes watery beer IMO.

QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Aug 29 2008, 09:24 PM) I think if activity is low in the forum it's only because more people don't read. It'd be kinda nice if non-readers could be encouraged to read and thus participate here... but how does one do that? I can't explain to someone who "hates to read" what reading has given to me in my life... but I'll try. I'm a 40-year-old man without a college degree who barely graduated high school, and yet I'm a very smart person because I've self-educated myself through voracious reading. (Remember, if it helps, that Professor Peart is a high school drop-out.) Reading has brought me to places that even films cannot, but most importantly it's expressed ideas to me and encouraged thought and imagination. People who don't read are missing out. Big time. And people who can't read (none of these people are on the board, obviously)... well, I wish something could be done for them. I'd like to donate some time someday to teaching illiterate adults to read; it's something that's very important to me. In the choice between books, CDs, or movies, I'd probably pick the books. Reading is entertaining, educational, and so important. I wish I could read more, but with my masters degree in progress, I read so much there and don't have much time for leisure reading. And then when I do have the time after the semester, I'm burned out But I go though times where I don't have a lot to do where I NEED to read something good. And I do, then I stop for various reasons, like mentioned above.

It's gotta take a LOT for me to cry at a movie. In fact, I can't think of one that has recently got me going, and by recently, I mean in the last...10 years? But, when I was quite young, friggin Fox and the Hound really upset me. When they were separated and the one went off into the woods by itself? OMG! This is the reason I've only watched this once. Thanks for the nightmares, Disney. However, in terms of TV, Extreme Makeover Home Edition has me hugging the Kleenex. It's because those stories are real life and very inspiring (at least most of them are). Real life accomplishments and selflessness of great human beings really gets me emotional, much more than a fictional story.

About Sweet Caroline: My brother-in-law's sister got married and I went to the wedding. That part of the family is from north of Boston, so they plaed SC at the reception. They went nuts and I had to sit down because I "wasn't part of it". anyhow, carry on about the Red Sux.
