  1. Tai Shan twice in an 8 song set eh? Why not throw some Air Supply and Barry Manilow covers in there as well? :eyeroll:
  2. I've never been a big fan of the medleys or shortened versions. My opinion is either play the full song or don't play it at all… don't tease me. I can certainly understand picking out sections of the epic album side songs like 2112 and Hemispheres, but outside of that I just feel cheated if if the whole song isn't played. Again, just my opinion.
  3. Before and After - 5:36 Lakeside Park - 4:07 (The Necromancer would be much better, but too long given the time constraints) Circumstances - 3:45 Force Ten - 4:33 (+Band Member Intro) Spirit of Radio - 4:58 The Analog Kid - 4:48 Cut to the Chase - 4:49 Red Barchetta - 6:10 Far Cry - 5:19 Earthshine - 5:42 2112 Overture/Temples of Syrinx - 6:45 Limelight - 4:20 This probably puts you @ 3 minutes or so over 60 but you can probably get away with that. I would personally prefer more older stuff but I tried to create a good mix of older and newer, leaning a little more towards newer since your band name is Force Ten.
  4. I would choose Caress of Steel. I've seen RUSH so many times… but the only songs from Caress of Steel I've only ever seen them perform live are Bastille Day and Lakeside Park. The Necromancer is my 2nd favorite song, only behind La Villa Strangiato… It would make my year if they would even just play that one song on the next tour. I think it is most likely they would choose Hemispheres or 2112 if anything at all though, and I would surely be happy to see either of those albums performed in their entirety as well, but I would be absolutely ecstatic if they pulled Caress of Steel out of the vault. BTW, has there ever been a better name of an album than Caress of Steel? I don't think so… if I had to describe RUSH to someone who's never heard them using only three words, I would simply say "Caress of Steel"!
  5. None of us who live in Delaware! :rush: :Alex: :Neil: :geddy: :dweez: :ebert: :7up:
  6. I wholeheartedly agree. They way the crowd "sings" along with YYZ is pretty magical… it gave me goosebumps the first few times I watched it.
  7. Well.....you're not entirely correct. The "play" was a movie that lasted 11 minutes, not an hour. You can argue Rush did a (slightly) similar thing with the sausage restaurant on the Time Machine tour. The Styx movie is probably somewhere on YouTube. Yes, it's very corny, but Harry Satchel's "Smells Like Chicken" flick probably won't win any awards either. Nobody booed the "band". The booing was because of the "bad" guy in the production. Don't believe everything "Behind the Music" tells you. But,yes, sadly DeYoung can be a jerk..... Clem Clem Fair enough… yes my post was based predominantly on hearsay and it sounds like you were there so I trust what you are saying. Thanks for the clarification.
  8. I will never understand for the life of me why so many Rush fans shout out about wanting to see the mushy, slow songs at concerts. I like these songs just as much as the next guy, but I have absolutely ZERO desire to see them live. I go to concerts to rock out and feel the unique level of energy created by the best three musicians ever in the same band together up on stage rocking their socks off. Throwing in these slow mushy songs just diminishes the energy and makes concerts less fun for me...
  9. 1 La Villa Strangiato 2 The Necromancer 3 2112 4 By-Tor and the Snowdog 5 Working Man 6 Xanadu (Those 6 are just "chalk" picks in my opinion). 7 Hemispheres 8 Lessons 9 Fly By Night 10 What You're Doing 7-10 could change for me depending on my mood, but 1-6 will ALWAYS make my list.
  10. Dennis DeYoung is a giant douche bag. This interview doesn't prove that, it merely reinforces it. He nearly destroyed Styx, I believe during the Paradise Theater tour. He tried to turn that tour (and Styx) into a theater production more so than a rock band. Prior to the band taking the stage, there was an hour long "play", (a serious theatrical production) which was booed mercilessly by Styx fans. When the other band members moved to eliminate the play, which was Dennis DeYoung's baby, DeYoung balked, insisting that the band's future must be based on such theatrics rather than on their music. As a result, the other band members rightfully kicked him out of Styx, after which he filed litigation to claim rights to the band name Styx. But the douche bag lost and Styx still lives today. I do like a lot of Styx songs. My favorite is Suite Madam Blue from Equinox, but I also like all of Grand Illusion, most of Pieces of Eight and much of Crystal Ball. I surely don't put them in the same class as Rush, I think most Rush fans would probably like Styx.
  11. I live in Delaware and caught these guys for the first time Friday night and they were about as good as you could ever possibly expect a Rush cover band to be. The highlight of the evening for me was Natural Science, which they performed to near perfection. The guitar player absolutely NAILED the solo which is pretty amazing. I highly recommend that any Rush fanatic in the area make the effort to get out and see these guys. You will not be disappointed.
  12. I've done my part too. I've never been more proud to be a life-long Delawarean than when I saw this article! BTW, i caught your band at JB McGinnes this past Friday and you guys were fantabulous. I will be a regular at your shows moving forward, you can count on it!
  13. Very well said! I also believe the lyrics speak to the choice between being a caring and productive human vs. being selfish and uncaring. Cut to the Chase is also my choice, but it isn't even close for me. What great and inspirational song!
  14. La Villa Strangiato for me. It is my 2nd favorite song ever, only behind The Necromancer.
  15. I really love Cinderella Man, but I HAD to vote for Xanadu.
  16. Minnesota??? I thought The VinMan was from New Castle... I've always loved Bacchus Plateau myself as well. Especially the guitar solo, but the entire song is truly a work of art.
  17. We had a group of 10 planing to trek up from Delaware to Toronto to see Rush at Air Canada Center. Unfortunately 2 of us have lost our jobs and a few others are dealing with other unforseen family issues and financial difficulties, so we are forced to cancel our trip. So what this means is that we need to sell our tickets, and we prefer to avoid using Stubhub. We bought them through Live Nation for $163 each. We have 4 pairs of tickets in the following locations: FLR C Row 21, FLR C Row 22, FLR L Row 17, FLR L Row 18. If anyone would like to purchase any of these tickets at cost, please email me at billgesner@comcast.net as soon as possible.
  18. QUOTE (treeduck @ Sep 8 2012, 01:52 AM) Nothing from 2112, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, only 1 song from Permanent Waves, 2 from Moving Pictures, obviously nothing from Fly by Night and Caress of Steel and only 2 from Signals = a bad setlist... It's basically A Show of Hands II + Clockwork Angels and Far Cry... I couldn't agree more.
  19. Subdivisions Big Money Force 10 Grand designs Body Electric Territories Analog kid Bravado Wheres my thing Drum solo 1 Far Cry Set 2 Caravan Clockwork Anarchist Carnies Wreckers Headlong flight Drum solo 2 Alex solo electric Halo effect Wish them well The garden Manhattan project Drum solo 3 Red sector a Yyz Working man Tom Sawyer Spirit of radio Like many others, I agree that this is an incredibly disappointing setlist. Big Money???? Really????? WTF???? IMO, Big Money, Force 10, Grand Designs, Body Electric, Territories, Manhattan Project, Bravado, and Red Sector A are all sadly poor choices. For those of you who like the setlist congrats and more power to you, but I have to believe the majority of long-time dedicated Rush fans are not going to enjoy this tour. We'll see.
