  1. I pulled this disc off the shelf yesterday for a listen, and forgot that it too uses alchemy as a central "theme." Not a concept, but the theme of alchemy runs throughout several of the songs on the album - great prog rock CD. I just thought the images and layout were a bit on the similar side! It's even presented in that hardcover book style! http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/5526/photo2zm.jpg http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/1821/photo1vta.jpg http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/8117/photohcl.jpg T

    CA MVI?

Anyone hear if there will be an MVI release of CA similar to the S&A release? It'd be cool if they'd release HD audio other than just downloadable files. T
  4. QUOTE (cygnify @ Jun 21 2012, 02:40 PM)My understanding was that 40k sales were of the fanpack were largely UK, CAN, DE, and US. It is possible that ~20k copies were US which would have gave usher a run for his #1 spot... Yeah! How about it?
  5. As many have stated the fan packs were not included in the UK or US charts, but does anyone have any idea how many of those fan packs sold or since I think they were limited, how many were actually pressed? Just a funny side note - the fan pack only available in the UK, was pressed in the USA, if you look at the back of the digibook. Thanks, T
  6. there are some folks on ebay selling just the digibook cd from the fan pack...if you wanted to upgrade.
  7. Usher? Ugh, well at least it isn't Adele. Just think, if VH hadn't released their album when they did (Grammy time) they may have had a #1. For Rush, this was their best chance, with Kenny Chesney due out next week and Maroon 5 AND Linkin Park the following week. All the country folks and kiddies will be out for those three albums, respectively. Very close for two 70's/80's rock bands this year in Rush and VH. #2 is still nothing to sneeze at. I'm used to it, I'm a Devils fan! T

    Halo Effect

The lyrics and the melody are very poignant. I mean who hasn't been in a situation where you put everything into a relationship just to be rejected or get used. Yet, even as time passes we still think about "her" as the final line alludes too, "A goddess with wings on her heels..." Awesome sentiment. T
  9. The best actual song to close an album (composition wise) may very well be Natural Science, however, in context of the "concept" and the fact that it was to be continued...I had to vote for Cygnus X-1. T
  10. QUOTE ...the bottom end is really heavy...to the point that it was shaking my whole house!!! I love that! See "ya" can't ever please everybody!
  11. QUOTE If anything, I think it's sad that people don't care about it. I mean you are right - it is about the music. So why are we listening to a crappier version of what was actually recorded? Hello, ever listen to casssette tapes (I may be showing my age here) ? Talk about a crappier version than the version that was actually recorded. Yet, did we bitch about them? I didn't. It was what is was. Even the original makers of the CD made a point of mentioning that CDs have limitations to the source material. So, it's six of one a half dozen of another. Now mastering gets involved. Again, it is what it is. I appreciate all the opinions, but really, the 'loudness wars" have been going on for years. You really think us complaining about it is going to change that (Vapor Trails aside - because I hear that is getting a complete remix)? Just saying - enjoy what you have, because it's probably all you'll get! I mean all this loudness stuff is just T
  12. I got Whitesnake's last CD via fan pack - same hardback cover, but has a tray for the CD instead of a sleeve, but same awesome extras and high quality magazine.
  13. QUOTE (A rocket that ignites itself @ Jun 12 2012, 07:02 PM) I was pleasantly surprised how nice the hard cover cd book from the fanpack is. It really is a beautiful package, compared to the average soft digipack that seems to get dinged up just by looking at it. Only downside is the lack of the band pic...odd. Bottom line, if you have the means to get the fanpack...it's well worth it. Yeah but in the fan pack you get the FULL band pic on the high-quality glossy magazine cover. Same portrait, just not cut off and framed as in the retail CD digi. FYI - in case it wasn't mentioned, the CD art is different from fan pack to retail. The fan pack IS the way to go! Top notch quality. T

Anyone know if this is (a) true; ( if these are HD files or MP3s? Thanks, T Download card comes with vinyl. It gives you the option of mp3 or standard flac. Not high-res flac, but standard redbook, cd quality lossless. Thanks for the info; appreciate it! T
