  1. QUOTE (zappafrank @ Jun 12 2012, 08:36 PM) I live in Pittsburgh, and we have a chain (based out of OH) called the Exchange. There's one in the University area where I work, so on my lunch break I popped in, asked the cute girl behind the counter how much the cd was ($12), and she pulled one right out; they were prominently displayed in the glass case at the counter. I considered going to Best Buy, but I figured they don't need my help, and I'd rather help an independent store (relatively speaking), since it's been so good to me in the past with random odds and ends that were used. There was another local store I considered going to, but when I called I was told the price was $16. I think that's a bit of a mark-up unfortunately. I picked mine up at the exchange last thursday*** they've had it in for a week now; I'm in ohio, I live by the first one, they had it for 8.99 woot woot.

Yes, Yes you are! It's a fantastic record and honestly I'm about to play it again. Their is only one rush song I don't like and it's I Think I'm going Bald. Dude what are you , that isn't Permanent Waves! I think I'm going Bald is on Caress Of Steel! I think its more like I think you're going insane in the brain! I think he was saying overall(all records) there is only one Rush song he doesn't like. Indeed

Im just trying to understand how someone couldnt like Countdown and Losing It. Brilliant songs to me, but not to some I guess. Also, CA is pretty huge and growing on me more too....but nothing on the planet can touch 2112-MP. most bands are lucky to have a great 3-4 records, in my op there is only one lack luster record in the catalog. and no its not T4E or VT To each their own! I do like "Countdown" and "Losing It"- just not as much as many, many other songs. I could get into specific reasons why, but I'll only write 'em down if requested. They just don't make an impact on my soul like all the songs from Presto or Counterparts do. By any chance did you discover RUSH during the release of Presto? Dude, I'm only 23, soon to be 24. I would've been 1 when Presto came out Nothing I've read recently had made me feel as old as this... Presto was what got me into the band, and I was 15 I was 2 when Test For Echo came out.

  7. QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Jun 10 2012, 05:48 PM) Well if they do play the whole album wouldn't that mean they need to bring along an orchestra and the guy that played the piano on The Garden? As much as I'd like to see that, it may not be feasible And if they do play the album, no pee breaks. I'd rather pee during a song I've seen them play a million times rather than miss a single note of this gem It's a string quartet not an orchestra, and they've had string quartets on Counterparts and Snake and Arrows.
  8. In all honesty, MOVE OVER MOVING PICTURES YOU'VE BEEN BEAT! Now Moving Pictures is no where near my favorite rush album but, I think Clockwork Angels is the definitive Rush album!
  9. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jun 10 2012, 03:04 PM) No offense, my brother, but this post makes me kind of sad. I think something huge here has been lost that cannot be regained. An album to me is a piece of art, compiled and put together in a very specific way to account for flow and balance, and it's far from just a collection of songs. That's why artists do shows thematically, based on recent works and museums have exhibitions based on subject or theme. A concept album only magnifies the importance of a piece of art as a complete whole, but even albums that aren't conceptual needs to work as a whole. Even the artwork is important. Without these things, it really is just a collection of songs, and that just doesn't seem right to me. An album is not 8 or 10 or 12 singles and b-sides sandwiched together randomly, it's a unified whole. I have to fully agree. Being born into a digital era, all albums on my ipod are full albums, I have no need for separations or individual gaps, I open them in music editors and connect them so I can't really skip songs, I love it.
  10. I think every photo inside it, could have made a better cover, so much good artwork in this album.
  11. The fact that Neil would even eat there surprises me, vocal atheist he is.
  12. QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ Jun 7 2012, 09:54 AM) I live in CANADA and Rush is from CANADA and I still haven't received my pre-order yet! Screw the rest of the world, they should at least coddle their fellow anthem singers first. Haha. It is very hard not to listen to the entire leak. Two days ago I started to indulge in a "track-a-day" so I've now heard the title track and The Anarchist. Seven more to go! I hope I can possibly hear them all in a row if the post man drops off a little "sumfin-sumfin" in the mailbox today. I LIVE IN OHIO YOU KNOW WHERE RUSH GOT THEIR CAREER! AND I STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED IT BLAH
  13. Alex said Hugh Syme put them in there and somebody pointed them out to rush they had no idea the time said 2112, Hugh Syme did that.
  14. So Rush on all the tours heavily on the last couple of tours use a lot of humor in the show, and I loved it. The intro and outro videos it was quite funny. Clockwork Angels is a very heartfelt and amazing story. I would feel really remiss if they watered it down with loads of humor, honestly I would love to see some cool videos showing some very serious intros to the story line, hardly any humor. Make me feel like I'm going to the theater or opera house, I guess some comic relief will be nice in some parts but I'm really hoping for loads of cinematic and theatrical details. This comes from me being a huge Iron Maiden fan who always put big theatrics on. anyone else have thoughts?
  15. I f***ing love the story and it is scary in some instances.
  16. As a huge Steampunk novel fan, Cherie Priest writes a great series of books called the Clockwork Century, I was critical of whether Rush could pull it off honestly. But they did, all steampunk tales tend to have loads of horror, lit by fire, and they pulled it off fantastically the clockwork angels sound f***ing scary.
  17. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jun 5 2012, 07:05 AM) QUOTE (Gompers @ Jun 5 2012, 04:21 AM) Yes, as this time, it is my favorite song off CA. Not fav Rush tune though. That will take time if it happens. I just can't allow myself to go all in so early on. Even though I think it's probably the best song on CA, there's no WAY I could call it their best song ever. I mean, we do live in a world where there are songs like Xanadu and La Villa Strangiato and Tom Sawyer and Subdivisions and The Spirit of Radio and YYZ and, well, at least 20 or 25 Rush songs that this song would have to climb over to reach the top spot. As much as I am loving the song, I just don't see that happening. As much as a masterpiece as the song MAY be (too early for me to tell), I still doubt I'll think it's better even than Armor and Sword, which truly is a modern-day masterpiece IMHO... I don't find YYZ and Spirit that fondly I think this peaks it quite intently.
  18. QUOTE (D3strukt @ Jun 5 2012, 01:36 AM) If you look at the Rush albums with a title track, they have generally ALL been great. Fly By Night, 2112, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, Natural Science (might as well call it the title track of PeW), Mission (same as PeW's example), Presto, and Vapor Trail. All have generally been great. (Test 4 Echo was bad for me, so I didn't include it.) I love t4e especially live fantastic song.
  19. QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ Jun 7 2012, 02:18 PM) QUOTE (kentpilot @ Jun 7 2012, 01:51 PM) So i've been quite the lurker but this thread prompted me to get an account, hello all, My one complaint about rush is their attitude towards leaks and file sharing, Iron Maiden in 2000 were strictly against it and then in 2003 were all for it, they completely recognize it's ability to make sales. I love myself more, there is no one else more important than myself. Friday I'm gonna buy the CD because that's when the record store will get it in, then I'll get my fanpack which I ordered in early May. Then I'll go to the show September 11th and I'll buy a shirt. I don't care if I downloaded it, I paid for it. I downloaded it, and seeded it. I hope someone who isn't a huge rush fan who never planned on buying it downloads it and goes wow this is f***ing good and becomes a bigger fan, buys merch goes to shows and maybe buys the awesome album. That happens quite a bit. Source: I was one of those people. For some, it's more about principle than practicality. And that's fine, to each their own, but why should they persecute those who are different than them when they do no harm to anyone, in some cases help.
  20. QUOTE (ALifeson85 @ Jun 4 2012, 10:00 AM) Seems like so far I'm the only one who actually really LIKES the title track... I love Alex's solo
