  1. That song is damn-well near impossible to play and sing to at the same time.
  2. Because he won last year. I'm glad Bonham is winning. He is AMAZING. WAS amazing. I dunno, i feel lately he's a bit... stiff... No muscle tone at all, just wasting away. Too soon.

  4. How the heck is McCartney a better bassist than Paul Jones and Lee?
  5. Towards the ending of Marathon. Don't call me weird but the chorus sounds awesome in the end.
  6. By the same guy who made the Caravan 8-Bit version about a month back. It's pretty amazing work this guy is doing! He's currently working on doing the whole Permanent Waves album. Give him some publicity!
  7. That's just my crappy computer not showing me my posts causing me to re-post. That's what I assumed. Just yanking your chain. :)
  8. billybobjoe1881 really enjoys expressing his love for Neil's writing.
  9. I'm not sure this counts. These are the last lyrics on the album but La Villa Strangiato is the last sog. My favorite part of the lyrics in La Villa is when it went "..."
  10. http://i.imgur.com/XljjAej.jpg Now with their new singles..Diane Sawyer, Subways, ZZY, The Spirit of Television, and many more!
  11. Record yourself on your computer and play it back. I finally got to play some Rush songs and sing along to them, while recording them at the same time for fun. I've been pleasantly surprised with how darn close I've been to the actual key, when singing on my own! The high parts I'd done on 'Everyday Glory' were almost exactly the same as the high parts on the song, as I realized today when singing along to it! I'm so tickled that I did it. I sang along with: 'Everyday Glory', 'Nobody's Hero', 'Resist', 'Tears', 'Freewill', 'Vital Signs', and 'Red Sector A'. All of them except for 'Vital Signs' were pretty much the same - 'VS' was a bit higher in reality than what I'd been singing. And, as expected, I couldn't do the high part in 'Freewill' - not even really close, to my disappointment, but ah well. At the very least, I've gained confidence that what I hear to be the key of the song is pretty spot-on, so that my singing with no accompaniment is very similar. I like that, as I'd kind of assumed I'd be pretty far off, assuming I didn't have a very good musical ear or whatever. And... the best part is, I'm starting to sound more like how Geddy sings! After years of operatic singing, and only just getting into the 'speaking voice' range of singing, I've been improving, and I'm very happy. I'm finally getting the vibrato thing, which while I could do well in operatic style, I couldn't do in normal style, so this is a huge win for me. I can't tell you how awesome it's being to be able to sing Rush songs and sound even remotely ok doing it! I really, really need to be able to have the house to myself more often, so I can sing more; I just can't do when there's others around. I don't think anyone wants to hear me practicing belting out the end bits of 'Resist'! Anyway. I'm feeling good about myself in this. :) Listened to what I'd recorded last night, and I was very pleased, until I realized that my recorder had only recorded two songs! :( It has four folders on it with which to record things to, with space for 99 items in each folder, and it seems that when a folder is full, it doesn't automatically move onto the next folder - as there were two other empty folders - and instead simply beeps that the folder is full, and doesn't record. Well, I couldn't hear that beep over the sound of the Rush music playing. Grrr! I'm so annoyed by this; I'd really wanted to hear what 'Resist' sounded like! So, I got 'Everyday Glory' and 'Nobody's Hero', and that's it. :( Awe that's a bummer. Good work doing that, though. Bet that was a blast. lol
  12. At least he is back in solo mode. We got some great Alex style solos on this record. Agreed! The Garden was fantastic. Made me tear up.
  13. What I want from Alex, more than anything, is to not be afraid to bring back his guitar driving playing. You take 2112, Xanadu, Farewell to Kings, basically anything in their 70's era...and you have fantastic guitar playing. I think the problem is Geddy used far too many synths in the 80's and it drove Alex to be far more conservative with his playing and not be as "technical" in what he does. He's filled with just a bunch of chordy music and it can be extremely dull. Plus, it seems he kind of turns up the guitar to a more "hard rock" kind of sound and I don't think that sound necessarily fits his playing. I miss when he made songs with the complicated and, like you said, clean sounding guitars. I love songs he plays like Hope because it's more than just playing B for a measure, then to F# for a measure, E for a measure, etc. Carnies was an interesting song, as well. I feel if he did more experimenting with the opening guitar, it could be really interesting with what they could come up with. Because even a crazy rockin' song like Headlong Flight, if you watch him play...He's not necessarily doing too much. Don't get me wrong, I still love their music now. Like I've said before on other posts, I am spoiled with Rush because I mainly listen for the bass and it's top notch in all their albums. But I can understand much frustration with some guitarists with Alex's playing recently.
  14. I'll see what I can make up on Spotify. :)
  15. How about the alchemic symbol of things going from bad to good? I, personally, have always loved it. It's on the floor of where the band plays during live shows. http://blog.world-mysteries.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/alchemy_symbol_strong.gif
  16. I can't imagine actually doing it with someone with Rush music on. I feel the time changes would completely throw everyone's game off.
  17. Record yourself on your computer and play it back.
  18. Ironic because most of us need them smashed with a crowbar to reach that pitch. Exactly my point :) I got tired of having to do that to sing like Geddy... Crap. I'm slow. I'm not a guy, but even I cringe when the words 'testicles' and 'crowbar' are used in the same sentence! I'm squirming in my seat. Enough internet for today.

  21. Not sure why you're talking about Counterparts on a Test for Echo/Vapor Trails thread, then... I personally have no problem, but according to your post, you do. 1) Several posters have mentioned counterparts in this thread as well as other albums that aren't strictly part of the OP's question which I addressed in my original post so I'm unsure why my post has been singled out? 2) I have no problem with Counterparts other than it's a very well recorded and very good sounding turd of a record bereft of most of the things that make Rush the band they are. 3) It seems that you have a problem and struggle to cope with somebody having a different perspective on what I truly consider to be one of the worst albums the band recorded. Speed of love? Alien Shore? Stick it Out? 4) British fans liking this record- it's an honest question as I have yet to find a british fan of this one. Perhaps our B/S detectors our more highly attuned over here to this kind of thing? :poke: I... What? I was just saying that you were contradicting yourself. I also said I have no problem with CP talk. Which is what I said. In my post. That's it. I'm not "struggling" with anything.. And I'm not attacking you. Yeah. Got a bit on the defensive side randomly. lol
