Rush's ridiculous philosophy on setlist
ThinkingBig replied to GeminiRising79's topic in On The Lighted Stage
The OP is comparing apples to oranges. Old rotten oranges at that. -
Are the hopes for an R40 tour doomed?
ThinkingBig replied to nhlrush's topic in On The Lighted Stage
So, lemme get this straight... if they don't tour and perform according to your wants and needs, then they are not good people? Interesting way to look at being a 'fan'. -
Camera Policy. ..RRHOF Induction Ceremony
ThinkingBig replied to tripdad's topic in On The Lighted Stage
It airs on HBO May 19 - and it's an edited version of the show. Meaning while RUSH may play 3 songs, 1 or 2 may make the final cut. -
The tour that will never happen according to the most recent interviews with Geddy. A lo-ooong hiatus is coming after August.

Found a funny moment from San Diego! (SPOILER)
ThinkingBig replied to Snaked's topic in On The Lighted Stage
Did they do this every night they played WTW? -
RRHOF Ceremony , Nokia Theater Los Angeles
ThinkingBig replied to Orbourus's topic in On The Lighted Stage
I hope RUSH fans will dominate the venue. Everybody cough "blowjob" at once when Don Henley takes the stage. -
Clockwork Angels Tour Live DVD in September?
ThinkingBig replied to MusicalAbby2112's topic in On The Lighted Stage
This is strange because the second leg of the a tour is usually about promoting the Live album created for the first leg. Rush has been doing it that way for years. So, where's the live album? -
I can't believe Rush isn't coming to California...?
ThinkingBig replied to LeaveMyThingAlone's topic in On The Lighted Stage
I know but every time they've added a 2nd leg they've come back to California. I am also looking at it from a business perspective, California is a cash cow with 4 guaranteed money makers. For them to skip it seems odd Agreed. L.A. is a major market. Did they officially say that Aug 4 Kansas City is the last date? -
VIP ticket experiences, quality of tickets obtained
ThinkingBig replied to Jeffrey's topic in On The Lighted Stage
Do they really not tell you the seat until you pick them up at the show -- that's what it's saying on VIP Nation. -
Have a great time, you rock.

I hope someone who is going will be twittering, tweeting, whatever.

RRHOF - All Star "Jam" Predictions.
ThinkingBig replied to ThinkingBig's topic in On The Lighted Stage
Dude, I hope so. From your mouth to the Rock God's ear. Please, please... Here's a weird twist, Foo Fighters performed Rock and Roll at the Kennedy Center Honors, with Taylor singing and Dave on drums. -
Jack Black made an appearance at the R30 show at Irvine Meadows. I was 5th row and could see him standing behind the Ged-side mixboard. Remember, there was a washer/dryer combo behind Geddy for that tour. During 2112 Overture, Jack Black walks out on stage and strips down to his underwear while facing the Washer/Dryer. He climbs on top of the Washer/Dryer and strikes the RUSH Starman pose, facing the red star on the rear screen. He holds the pose a few moments, then jumps down, rolls on the stage to his knees right in front of Geddy and does a "I'm not worthy" worship bow... then exits off the stage as the song goes into the "Hey" part. Later, during the La Villa Lerxst rant, Al, in a pirate voice, talks about Jack Black and S.S. Butt Crack. It was a classic Rush moment seeing big boy Jack Black, not the Starman physique at all, making that pose and Neil looking up at him and actually chuckling with a smile. Also, the last RUSH show I saw at Irvine Meadows, Time Machine, we were a few rows behind Howard's command center and there was a famous baseball picture there taking pictures with some professional camera gear. Randy something? Everyone who was with me knew who he was, they all got pictures with him. But I guess RUSH gave him permission to be there in the booth with Howard because he was there the entire show, taking pictures with these two huge cameras, big telephoto lenses.

I just had a funny thought, someone has said Chris Cornell will be inducting Heart, but shouldn't it be a woman. What if it was Joan Jett?? Joan Jett and Don Henley in the same after party as RUSH. Classic!! Give Lerxst a few drinks and watch the show after the show. Lerxst would have to announce that he's auctioning off the guitar Joan Jett pissed on on eBay—money to go to a charity for Runaways.

RRHOF - All Star "Jam" Predictions.
ThinkingBig replied to ThinkingBig's topic in On The Lighted Stage
Great point, and I forgot that Dave Grohl will be there which would make for a 'Free Bird army' of guitars, if they just did two classics, like Good Times, Bad Times / My Generation. Hell, maybe they will play Free Bird. As long as they let Lerxst handle the solo, then I'm cool with that. And Taylor Hawkins -- if any other drummer is in the finale, I hope they put the kits side by side and not bump NP out. I could almost picture Pratt saying this is not really my thing and bowing out, letting just Ged and Al play in the finale, that would suck. -
There's already been several threads about predictions for what RUSH will play to entertain the RRHOF induction audience at the Nokia Live theater, (keep in mind most bands play 3-6 songs and only 2 make the HBO broadcast) however HBO always shows the all Star Jam at the end of the ceremony -- this "Jam" can include inductees and presenter/performers. They play 1-2 rock classics, "Hey Jude", "Roll Over Beethoven" or they play a big jam version of one of the inductees most iconic songs. For example, last year concluded with Red Hot Chili Peppers playing 'Higher Ground' with Slash and a bunch of other inductees dancing on the stage. With such a diverse mix of inductees this year, I can't imagine how they would get everyone in there. We'd hope RUSH would be featured, and the next obvious choice to 'Jam' with RUSH would be Heart. Let me say this, when Heart comes on the radio, I'll turn up the volume, I dig their sound and their songs. I checked out a YouTube video of a recent live performance of 'Crazy on You' -- don't bite my head off for this -- but Ann Wilson is outstanding. She's still got an incredibly beautiful voice, like Annie Lennox great—just amazing. And Nancy Wilson totally jams, first rate guitar player, lots of movement, emotion, really rocking out. All that being said, I could see RUSH and Heart jamming out Limelight, an iconic and poignant rock classic. A song that over the years has become bigger than RUSH and speaks to all successful performers. -- Again, don't bite my head off -- they jam Limelight with Ann Wilson singing. Then they break into Rock and Roll by Led Zep, a song Heart has covered and RUSH has talked about covering a Led Zep on a future Feedback II... so. If you really want to see how great of a singer Ann Wilson is, check out their performance of Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center Honors. There's a big surprise at the song's climax, but Ann's voice brought Robert Plant to tears, in a good way. Okay, there's my dream finale. RUSH and HEART -- Limelight, Rock and Roll, "thank you, good night." Stop the presses... what about Public Enemy. Flavor Flav is a loose cannon, a train wreck, and you let him on the stage... I'd be concerned about him trying to steal the show. Maybe they'll leave with their posse after they get inducted. Then you've got Don Henley -- if he sings in the all-star Jam, I hope Neil chucks a stick at the back of his head. -- just kidding, our polite Canadian boys will be good sports no matter what. I just want RUSH to look as cool as they can and not be upstaged by some lesser talent. Oh yeah, Randy Newman... who's inducting him, Woody or Buzz Lightyear? I actually dig his music when I'm in that mood, but I have no idea how he'd fit into a Jam. Anyway, if anyone else has any thoughts, please share them...

Jimmy Page definitely is, I remember reading that bio on Led Zep" Hammer Of The Gods"? the author at one point said something like" Page had particular praise for the dreaded Canadian power trio Rush" Also there's a youtube clip where Alex & Geddy discussed talking for a long while backstage in Toronto with Plant and Page right before Robert & Jimmy where just about to start there concert.... I never heard anything about Roger Waters being a Rush fan, and really my bet is he's not just a hunch could be wrong. And I recall Alex talking about Roger Waters and the two of them discussing using acoustic guitars when writing new music which lead to much of Snakes & Arrows being composed on acoustic. Perhaps it was nothing more than a conversation, or maybe I'm misremembering. I believe it was Gilmour, not Waters. Maybe you're right, thanks for the correction. I tried to search for it, but didn't come up with anything. I do recall it was radio interview with Alex, a rather long one.

Hawkins and Grohl to induct Rush into Hall of Fame
ThinkingBig replied to Powderfinger's topic in Rush
Occasionally another band pays tribute to inductee with a cover prior to the induction. Though, if Metallica were locked in, then they'd be on the poster. It will be interesting to see if any other cool bands influenced by RUSH pop up on the promotion, -
right now I'm wishing we hadn't move to Chicago. I'm actually going to be in L.A., last week in March. No way the wife is letting me fly back for one night.... Enjoy, L.A., Rush fans!!

Hawkins and Grohl to induct Rush into Hall of Fame
ThinkingBig replied to Powderfinger's topic in Rush
I had never heard that quote, that's very cool. Now I guess I'm okay with Taylor and Dave doing the intro. So, I guess it's time to start speculating about how the "All-Star" Jam is going to work. -

I picture the Ticket "Master" as a large man with a scruffy beard sitting at computer, saying: "I shall decide who sits where. Nosebleed for you!!"
