  1. QUOTE (Khan @ May 16 2012, 08:22 AM) Great finale...now for the friggin' wait! September 28th! Seems like an eternity from now...
  2. QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Jun 20 2012, 07:03 PM) In Caravan, he's a "young man"... in Carnies, he's a "young boy" Hmmmm? and 30 years ago he was a "digital man"... wtf Neil
  3. Don't get me wrong, it's a good album... and it blows away S&A (which isn't hard to do). But I'm just feeling a bit underwhelmed. Maybe I expected too much... maybe it was all the anticipation. I also feel like the 3 singles we got to hear ahead of time are the main highlights of the album, so everything else is just "meh". I don't know... maybe I need to give it more time.
  4. "the PRIEST SPRAYS my name on this night"
  5. QUOTE (AndroidOnTheRun @ Jun 19 2012, 01:12 AM) Okay, first of all, if this has been addressed elsewhere already, I apologize. I searched the forum lots and found nothing. Second, please forgive my buying albums in MP3 format -- I don't particularly love live albums, so I thought I'd save some cash but still find out what's going on with Rush's live stuff. The issue: My Amazon MP3 copies of Different Stages and Rush in Rio are not right, and as far as I can tell, any commercially available downloads of these have the same issues.Different Stages has a weird "skip" between Presentation and Oracle that I can't fix completely even with some Audacity magic. Downloaded these two from iTunes as well and found the same problem. (Amazon could not resolve this issue, but did give me a refund.)RiR has goofy volume "jumps" at a lot of the track transitions... is this a problem of the CD as well, or am I imagining things? Again, the iTunes version had the same problem as Amazon. There's an odd "skip" at the beginning of Dreamline on RiR as well, also present in both Amazon and iTunes versions.Anyone else experience these issues / have any solutions? that's the problem with live CDs... there's no "gap" between the tracks, so the skip is always noticeable when you listen on MP3. I always hated how the split 2112 up into different tracks on DS. My fix was to use iTunes to rip the song from the CD, and there's an option where you can combine tracks... so I just combined all of them into one song. Now I have all of 2112 live on my iPod, intact and without skips.
  6. QUOTE (Mystic Slipperman @ Jun 18 2012, 06:38 PM) Agreed. 10 years since VT means 10 years since my dear friend (and fellow bandmate and RUSH fan) Tom passed away from a brain tumor. One of the last things we got to do together was see Rush in Irvine that September. Tempus fugit indeed..... I was at that show in Irvine. I remember the rain we had that day, getting soaked walking into the venue... then like magic it finally cleared up right before Rush took the stage and launched into Tom Sawyer. Geddy even made a comment later on about bringing the weather with them from Canada. Man, that can't have been 10 years ago! Where does the time go
  7. 66.6 in length? I bet Neil did that on purpose... when is he going to give it a rest?
  8. I wouldn't even say it's the best song on CA. Good music, yes... good lyrics and vocals, no.
  9. Virtuality = hey its the mid-90s, and I hear there's this new thing called the "world wide web"... people can send messages to each other through a computer! wow... I'm going to write a song about this. - NP
  10. I noticed during Time Stand Still he's got some white bracelet thing on, what is that?
  11. "the sky is BITCHING violently, drawn by shrieking winds"
  12. one thing that bugs me on R30 is during By-Tor when Neil screws up the ending. I guess that would apply only to the blu-ray version.
  13. QUOTE (arushhead @ May 24 2012, 04:56 PM) look around this world we're made..equality! no stock no change...come and join the brotherhood of man... the bitches that give pleasure to your eyes...
  14. "don't feed the people but we feed the Martin Sheens"
  15. QUOTE (ioc @ May 23 2012, 09:20 PM) "and the spherical servants...the feverish flocks" "A tired mime become a shade shifter" I thought it was "feverish f*cks"
  16. "living in the FISH ISLANDS, caught in the camera eye"
  17. QUOTE (rushgoober @ May 21 2012, 09:43 PM) QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ May 21 2012, 07:41 PM) the fact that they used an orchestra for part of the song, i guess there's a good chance they will bring the orchestra along. i would seriously doubt that - the added expense would be enormous, not to mention the difficult logistics. i'm guessing either they won't play those tracks or they'll just do them more stripped down live. Geddy will just trigger the "orchestra" with a foot pedal
  18. well that answers the Caravan/BU2B question. I guess they weren't re-recorded, just remixed.
  19. mammaries strumming at the heart of a moving picture...
  20. is he hitting high notes? yes does he sound good? no
  21. I really want to like this song, but Geddy's vocals grate on my ears. I think he needs to go back to singing in a lower register like he did on T4E
