  1. At least your username is honest Really? f**k you.
  2. I'm not even sure who appointed him as "Prog's Savior". He certainly didn't.
  3. As far as the "bieber of prog rock" bullshit (really, that's as far from the truth as calling this forum an arm of the Rush marketing camp), try select tracks: ^^^ Fwiw, this was epic to see live and it's the only show I've gone to in the past (5?) years.
  4. His remixes of many prog classics should earn anyone's respect. Music is subjective, so of course some will love/hate his own musical output.
  5. I took these guys and BMG to the cleaners while in college [early '90s]. Looking back I'm lucky I didn't get in trouble. haha Surprised to hear they still existed.
  6. What do you mean? Holy Drinker (live) is on the EP... (?)
  7. Everything he's touched is gold IMHO. The Crimson and ELP remasters are all fantastic, and he's a magician with 5.1 He doesn't abuse it, he simply elevates the idea of using a 3D soundstage. The clarity of the remasters make them the de-facto version for me now. It's nice to have these classic prog records archived so well before the tapes turn to dust.
  8. Just hope it gets the same treatment as Tarkus and the self titled, done by SW. Their DVD-A release of BSS was superb, but long out of print and getting harder to find [and more expensive].
  9. This is something that can be self policed. You could set an example right now. ;) [bloody peasant]
  10. I never considered anything in Clockwork Angels epic enough for this type of treatment, but there's money to be made I suppose. When's Rash going to make their first feature film? Maybe a couple funny hipsters trying to learn about themselves through their mutual respect and admiration for the band? Oh yeah... http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view5/2498094/i-love-you-man-rush-concert-o.gif
  11. I also stated the performances were mediocre. Since our opinions are being forced into numerous threads, you'll have to piece together those opinions.
  12. Conditions: Clarified by the OP later and further discussed as being exactly that, conditions. I aint stupid, stupid. It's weak when people's opinions are so fragile and tied to their self worth they try to shelter themselves from any opposing viewpoints.
  13. If there's going to be feedback threads with all sorts of conditions placed on its participants, then there needs to be a free-for-all thread too. It's called balance.
  14. The new DT suffers a similar drum-mix-epic-fail. I just don't get why things have to suck so bad, the technology is there to make awesome looking and sounding stuff (check out any of Steven Wilson's releases and you'll understand my justifiable gripe!!). SW's working with the same tools as everyone else and yet consistently puts out near flawless recordings and videos (exception is the last porcupine tree live DVD, which he admitted wasn't ideal due to problems with the intended bluray HD footage). SW juggles new music, tours, prog classic remasters (with surround mixes), etc. He handles all this while keeping the bar set high. Industry insider clowns can't seem to get anything right. Something is seriously out of alignment in the 'biz.
  15. Brain Salad was my first prog tape in the '80s. I later got it on CD and then on DVD-A (which was an early DVD-A release, and still one of the better ones ever released). I don't listen to it much, but go out of my way from time to time. I don't know how I was able to connect with this nodly nonsense at 11 years old, but I guess the prog was strong with me. :P
  16. Geddy's succeeding in the studio because he has time to work on things and isn't also playing bass (multitasking is very difficult, especially when you shred like he does). Live it's very obvious to me he isn't able to do both with the same degree of skill he once did. It's not always bad, but more often than not it detracts from the performance.
  17. This thread is for those who haven't gone deaf.
  18. From the streamed versions I've heard (on the fence whether I'm going to reorder it (cancelled after hearing the lackluster online streams)) the kick drum is almost non-existent. Performances are great, for 60 something hard/prog rockers. But when I put my objective ears on, there's a lot of rough spots. Some noted above. But we're all being kind if we say/think Geddy's voice isn't the weakest link in the band now. At times, it's painful to listen.
  19. Very Radiohead. From composition to vocal delivery, to instrumentation. Almost sounds like a Radiohead clone band. Thank god I like Radiohead and dug this. :) __________________________ Not sure how mainstream my random pick is (the person who first recommended me to it listens to a lot more mainstream stuff than I), so I apologise in advance if this is something you've heard a dozen times this week. I guess this guy has won some awards (?). Ben Howard "The Fear" https://vimeo.com/31205181 [i'm mostly a hard rock/metal fan nowadays, but can't pass up good music no matter what the genre... and this is a spectacular song no matter the measure]
  20. L'Enfant Sauvage is a tremendous album. I still listen to it every few weeks. I just haven't burned out on it yet. They received some praise for it, but I'm always saddened when it doesn't seem like enough praise for what is likely going to survive the test of time and be considered one of the better metal albums of this decade. One of my faves from it: http://youtu.be/kG3fWvAFMcc Of course the single that hooked a lot of new fans:
  21. http://www.amazon.com/Close-Edge-Blu-ray-Yes/dp/B00EG0MVMA/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1384525518 http://stevenwilsonh...edge-cdblu-ray/ (there's also a DVD-A/CD combo, but I don't really see the benefit of ordering that unless you don't own a bluray player or want to save a few bucks).
  22. Gee, what a surprise - I'm in the largest demographic group!
