  1. QUOTE (mazyyz @ Sep 7 2012, 11:23 PM) After the CA debut, it all goes south. 1. Why re-introduce another PW track when you clearly represented the album in the first set? 2. Why clog up the setlist with a 3rd drum solo? Neil we know you can play drums, but...c'mon! 3. Why plug in another 80's tune with Red Sector A? This was the perfect opportunity to thrown in a throwback shocker like Jacob's Ladder, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres (prelude), or take your pick. 4. Working Man again? Really? Need I say more? Encore I know Tom Sawyer and TSOR have to be represented. But back to back? To open the encore with one of the throwback shockers I mentioned above would have saved that second half of the second set. Plus they've always had three songs in the encore, why they scaled down to two is up for question. I'm sure age and stamina have something to do with it. Overall I give the setlist an 8 out of 10 simply because the first set and the first half of the second set are worthy. As some have pointed out, maybe they will be alternating songs, or perhaps change it up when they supposedly hit their second leg. After all these years, I'm just appreciative Rush gives me the opportunity to be able to voice my opinion on such matters. I agree completely, it's peculiar to go from The Garden, a song about finality and acceptance in life, to Manhattan Project, a song about developing the atomic bomb. Just a strange WTF choice. Also agree that TS and TSoR padding out the encore looks a bit rushed and desperate to appeal to the casuals. You just know the boys were thinking, "Welp, we gotta cram in Tom Sawyer and Spirit of Radio somewhere, why not at the end?". If I could edit the setlist it'd be like this... Set I: 1. Subdivisions 2. Big Money 3. Force Ten 4. Grand Designs 5. The Body Electric 6. Territories 7. The Analog Kid 8. Bravado 9. Where's My Thing? 10. The Spirit of Radio Set II: 1. Limelight 2. Caravan 3. BU2B 4. Clockwork Angels 5. The Anarchist 6. Carnies 7. Seven Cities of Gold 8. The Wreckers 9. Headlong Flight 10. The Garden 11. YYZ 12. Losing It 13. Jacob's Ladder 14. Xanadu Encore: 1. La Villa Strangiato 2. Tom Sawyer
  2. QUOTE (LotusLand @ Sep 7 2012, 11:00 PM) A pathetic setlist for this band. It is lazy. 1/2 of these songs could be replace and NO ONE would care. Terrtories, Red Sector A, Bravado, Force 10, Big Money, The Garden (beautiful song but not for a concert), Halo Effect all should be gone. Lazy? I'm sorry, but lazy is the last word that comes to mind when looking at this setlist. You wanna know what would really be lazy? Regurgitating the songs we always hear on every single tour. Rush broke boundaries tonight and more than ever they played for THEMSELVES. Right...challenging, refreshing material from the 80s is real "lazy".
  3. QUOTE (DBJetsman @ Sep 7 2012, 11:06 PM) That's the most bulls*** setlist I've ever seen. 4 songs from PoW (ONE OF THERE WORST ALBUMS EVER) and not even the best one (Marathon)? 2 songs from Signals and Moving Pictures: REALLY??? They are complete dumbasses and will never ever be the greatest band ever...
  4. QUOTE (iluvgeddy05 @ Sep 7 2012, 10:56 PM) They definitely did not overpower, rather complimented the songs. And they only played on parts, not the whole way through. I believe the symbol on the shirts was something rushy. A bit off topic but how did Geddy's voice hold up tonight? Much thanks
  5. QUOTE (hermy @ Sep 7 2012, 10:35 PM) Piss on you nay-sayers! I'll take your tickets!! They were lean, fit, and rocked it like 20 year olds! Amazing concert! How was Alex's solo? Did he also have one at the end of The Wreckers? Thanks.
  6. QUOTE (snowdog2112 @ Sep 7 2012, 10:15 PM) 7. I'm really excited to see this show but I'm also realistic enough to know that the overwhelming majority of the crowd goes to see Rush to hear what they know from the radio. I'm afraid standing in the crowd is going to ruin most of my enjoyment because of the constant bitching throughout. I'd bet 75% of the typical audience has never even heard the names The Body Electric or Grand Designs or Territories, much less the new songs. It's going to be one long draining night of "Play 2112!!!!!!", and "Play Freewill!!!!!!!!!" and "Play Limelight!!!!!" while I'm trying to hear the songs. I sure hope I'm wrong but I've spend too many evenings standing near a "fan" who spends over 2 hours between every single song yelling "Tom Sawyer!! Tom Sawyer!!" to expect anything different. But thank you Rush for having the courage to play so much off the radar stuff, especially after the incredibly standards-heavy Time Machine tour (although I loved the first set). Ughh, I'm really worried about this now! Thanks for planting that seed in my head.
  7. QUOTE (pfrushfan0122 @ Sep 7 2012, 10:11 PM) I have to say, this will be my first Rush concert and I am really disappointed that 2112 will not make it into the set. There was so much build up in my head especially because of the hap-tip to 2112 on the album cover... I don't get it...I mean there are definitely some songs in there that I really like that I never expected that others don't like (Red Sector Eh)... I know I'll still enjoy it though... Y'know what, the setlist actually makes sense. Maybe the boys are planning on retiring with a R40 tour...and they'll bust out ALL their classics on that tour before going into retirement. Maybe they wanted to bust out some deeper cuts as an experiment of sorts...I do wonder how the crowd reacted to all the lesser played songs + CA.
  8. QUOTE (exiled yorkie @ Sep 7 2012, 10:14 PM) For a such a wonderful band they are so f***ing clueless about their fan base and what it wants. I guess I will hear some songs from Power Windows I haven't heard live but I would rather it was from Caress of Steel. Sadly the bad has played it safe once again. It will be a great show as always but come on boys, take a risk once in a while. I think they can't remember how to play songs from Caress of Steel anymore lol TAKE A RISK?? Are you kidding me? That is EXACTLY what they did tonight. Not playing 2112, Freewill, Limelight, etc is VERY ballsy. God, even if they play 40+ songs people would still bitch. I bet they figured the fans were sick of hearing all the older staples and wanted them to branch out into more obscure material...we got what we asked for.
  9. QUOTE (ShowgunSam @ Sep 7 2012, 10:05 PM) Good God, would you all just drop it already with the whole "Losing It" fiasco? I mean, could you have gotten your hopes up for a more random song? Strings or not, it's not even that great of a track. And I'm sorry for those of you who expected a 70s set list. Jesus, even at sixty years old, these guys still put on the best rock performances to date and people still just bitch about anything. Losing It is awesome. Suck it!
  10. I dig it overall. Still curious to see if they'll swap out any songs at the next couple of shows.
  11. QUOTE (hunter @ Sep 7 2012, 10:05 PM) Thank goodness. How many times do we need to see the same songs? What about the first timers?
  12. It was a very enthusiastic thumbs up right until they busted out Manhattan Project. Should have been Losing It.
  13. QUOTE (Powderfinger @ Sep 7 2012, 09:57 PM) It's interesting how many of us predicted three or four songs from Signals and we instead got four songs from Power Windows. I just can't understand it. One cut from Permanent Waves and only two cuts from Moving Pictures? Not even a Limelight or Red Barchetta? Beyond strange. Sorry to complain, just my reaction. Wasn't TMT their most successful tour ever? I guess they figured that they played enough of their older material on the last tour...
  14. QUOTE (glennb2112 @ Sep 7 2012, 10:02 PM) change the title!!!!!!!! some may see it on main page!!! I just did. Sorry.
  15. No 2112, Limelight, Freewill, Closer to the Heart, La Villa... Has there ever been a tour that has left out so many staples before?? In a way I'm appreciative that the boys are ballsy enough to play what they want and not cater to all the casual RUSH fans who go to the shows solely to hear all their radio hits. On the other hand, I'm going to miss hearing the familiar songs that almost ALWAYS end up on the setlists. Maybe they'll alternate the "hit" songs night by night (Minus TS, of course)?
  16. A little underwhelmed by the ending of the show...if Manhattan Project and Red Sector A were swapped with Losing It and Jacob's Ladder and Working Man was taken out for La Villa or 2112, I'd be a lot more satisfied. Killer first set though!!
  17. QUOTE (dtpoet @ Sep 7 2012, 09:44 PM) Earlier today - Tony R was quoted as saying -" Losing It, Territories, and Jacobs Ladder on the set list." When asked by someone; "Tony Do you have a view of the setlist?", he replied "Indeed I do!" Guess not - Maybe Losing It and Jacob's Ladder will be alternates for Manhattan Project and Red Sector A?
  18. I would really love it if they squeezed Jacob's Ladder in as the show closer...doubt it though. The strings packed up and left. :/
  19. Eww Working Man. I was sure they would drop it...guess not. Looks like Losing It and Jacob's Ladder didn't make the cut after all unless a miracle happens. Is there even time for 2112, TS, TSoR?
  20. WISH THEM WELL!!!! Did NOT expect that to make the cut! And yeah, I'm pretty sure there HAS to be a third set. Wasn't Losing It and Jacob's Ladder confirmed? Plus they still have to play some MP/PeW songs...
  21. RUSHinNH ‏@RUSHinNH Whoops. Neil came in a little late Looks like Neil goofed!
  22. Halo Effect?!?!?!? Huh...guess they are going out of order with the CA songs.
