  1. QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Jun 12 2012, 09:27 PM) Nothing beats Natural Science when it comes to album closers. It's amazing how much people are overrating The Garden on here I love The Garden, but there are many other closers that I love as well. It's a bit too early to tell where it would rank with this. I love Between the Wheels, La Villa Strangiato, Vital Signs, Available Light, Mystic Rhythms, and I enjoy Natural Science and Working Man too. Definitely need more time. It's definitely the best since at least Presto though, I know that.

It seems like a joke that people are actually defending the album as sounding great. Definitely. I actually enjoy this album, and am not even bothered by the mastering. But how anyone can say the album sounds "great" is beyond me. Seems peoples standards for good sounding albums has really gone down. I never said it sounds amazing, but I don't get why people are screaming bloody murder and calling for the guy who mastered it to be hung. Saying that it sounds "dreadful" is just crazy and blowing something out of proportion. I didn't say "hung" I said "hanged" Pictures are hung, people are hanged. Grammar can be an interesting subject, learn it... Really? You're going to pull that card on me? You're going deviate from the discussion and attack me because I made a grammar mistake instead of having a civil debate? Nice one.

EDIT: If you argue it's a joke that people are arguing people who think it's "great", shouldn't the same be said for those who say vice versa? Isn't it a joke how people are blowing it out of proportion using words "dreadful"? We are on the same page then. Sorry if my posts came out sound super defensive. I actually don't have an issue with the CA's mastering myself (the way I have an issue with VT). I can listen to this album and enjoy it. I just kind of get irritated that people say it's "great' mastering. And as much as some of you get annoyed by people complaining about this stuff - - I actually wish more people would complain about the bad practices in the industry, so that they would stop mixing and mastering shit so loud. But alas, that won't ever happen. It's always going to be the minority that complains, and the rest not caring. But I think that's really unfortunate. Because people don't realize that they aren't getting the best sounding version of the album that they could have. No worries, and I hope I didn't come off as overly defensive too. Like I said, I'm not picky with sound, but I can't listen to VT because it's unlistenable for me. If it's unlistenable for me, I can't imagine what those with a more sensitive ear must think. I suppose another reason why I'm not so sensitive is because I grew up around this modern music. I didn't grow up in the past when records were made with a different sound. I guess I look towards the material over sound because I've grown up in a time where, in my opinion, a lot of music is mediocre, so I value the songwriting, lyrics, etc. over sound because I've been unfortunate to grow up around quality music.

QUOTE (Terrapin @ Jun 12 2012, 08:13 PM) QUOTE (Snaked @ Jun 13 2012, 12:47 AM) RUSH could release an album that sounds like The Nightfly and people on these forums would spout off nonsense like "zOMG! It's got teh brIckwAllzzzz!" Relax people.. it's fine. Um, no... Are you seriously comparing Donald Fagens "Nightfly" to this abysmal rubbish? There is NO comparison, musically and/or sonically. Nightfly has and IS used in countless venues and recording studios as a metaphorical yardstick of how music SHOUD sound and relate to the listener, irregardless of musical taste. There is no degree of compression and subsequent loss of sonic quality. In my DAW (Logic 9) CA is peaking all over the place, NF is tame and where it should be. Again, maybe it's my age (the age) Still, the songs are quite good ;-) Missed the point there, bud.

People must have really picky ears. I have no problem with people expressing their opinions, but people just get too picky at times. Hell, I blasted the songs in the crappy, leaked mp3 format in my cars stereo and while points were a bit harsh, it was overall alright. I can't imagine what it will sound like once I get the CD to play in my car. The music sounds fine. It might not be as good as you'd like, but come on, people are exaggerating something to the point of insanity.
  7. QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Jun 12 2012, 07:00 PM) No order: The Garden Clockwork Angels The Anarchist The Wreckers (I intentionally left off previously heard tracks, otherwise Headlong Flight and BU2B are solidly in that mix) Clockwork Angels just KICKS MY @$!& ASS. My 4 too! You have great tastes!

  9. Is there a way to report the issue to Apple to fix it?
  10. QUOTE (Gompers @ Jun 12 2012, 11:45 AM) Currently 4.35 out of 5. Pretty darn good for this elitist website where Rush doesn't normally fair too well. Link Well said! They ranked it as almost as good as the topped ranked album, Moving Pictures. That's odd, especially for that place.
  11. QUOTE (Rush-O-Matic @ Jun 12 2012, 07:53 AM) I know it's not THAT big of a deal. But, CA is #1 on Amazon best sellers right now, knocking Adele out of the top slot. It's probably temporary, but I didn't see John Mayer, The Beach Boys, or Neil Young do that. The Beach Boys were at number one for a couple days. I don't know about the others though.

    Album Sales

QUOTE (vols1118 @ Jun 12 2012, 09:56 AM) How many album sales do you think Rush will get with Clockwork Angels? Do you think it will become Gold or even Platinum? Gold is possible, but it's still going to be very tough to reach due to the music industries environment. I hope we can see Gold though! I know sales don't matter much these days, but it's still fun to discuss it. I think it's going to at least get more sales than SnA, so let's hope!
  13. Clockwork Angels is now at #3 on iTunes.
  14. Crappy ending questions from twitter, in my opinion. I was hoping for something else, but oh well. I'm glad I saw this regardless!
  15. I'd be down to see the entire series, but if I had to choose two songs, it would be The Enemy Within and The Weapon. Both are great, particularly the former which is one of my favorite songs. I definitely could see Geddy rippin' a bass solo towards the end of The Enemy Within similar to Leave That Thing Alone on the Time Machine Tour.
  16. QUOTE (trenken @ Jun 11 2012, 04:38 PM) Could you imagine what it must be like to have a bunch of people you'll never know talking about your bald spot on the internet? Horrifying! Yeah, it sounds a lil' fraked up in my opinion
  17. Thanks for the link! Watching the live video now!

    Lol my stepdad...

I'm curious Trenken, what is your stepdad's favorite era? Did he at one time like Geddy's vocals, or always just tolerated them?
  19. QUOTE (Lerxster @ Jun 11 2012, 01:02 PM) QUOTE (GUP1771 @ Jun 8 2012, 03:03 PM) QUOTE (Snaked @ Jun 8 2012, 12:36 PM) I have another friend who emailed shortly after I told him about this and he got the price knocked down to $9.99 as well. Don't ask them to match the price, ask them if they know if they plan on lowering the price because you know you can buy it for $9.99 at Best Buy. It's a slight difference in approach... but it makes a difference. Also, I suggest going through email rather than chat or talking to somebody on the phone. Make sure to include the Best Buy link. Did exactly what you said, and again received the same thing: "With the exception of TVs, Amazon doesn't offer a price match guarantee. We do consistently work toward maintaining competitive prices on everything we carry. Because the marketplace is constantly changing and we strive to offer the lowest price, you'll see some fluctuations in our prices over time. However, you can let us know about a lower price by clicking the "tell us about a lower price" link in the Product Details section of any product page." I didn't even mention anything about price matching, and they still wrote that. It seems they don't want to be bothered. My advice to people is not even bother trying to ask Amazon. Either take the lowest price you've been guaranteed over the pre-order process, or just get it somewhere else cheaper. They aren't giving any effort to make a difference. They are telling it like it is and won't help you further. So yeah, save your time and don't bother hassling them. I'm gonna stick with getting it through Amazon only because there isn't a Best Buy in close vicinity, and I have prime, so I'll be getting it the day it releases anyway. Yep, amazon doesn't price match. They don't lower music prices. This is my first big disappointment with amazon in all the years i've done business with them. Whatever. I'd have stuck with them if BB wasn't down the road. There's also a Target near me.. I think they're also $9.99. In any event, we'll both be rocking to CA tomorrow haha, I wish I was, but now I need to wait. If Amazon couldn't piss me off more, they delayed my delivery and said it wouldn't be here until June 14th, two days after when they said I would receive it. I pre-ordered from them back in March, and they screw me over a day before release. Oh well, I cancelled my order, went to bestbuy.com, and purchased it with a better deal and free shipping (Best Buy isn't right down the road from me). Amazon really screwed up here. It's not like them. I guess I can wait for the CD to come later this week!
  20. Interesting. They used a theremin on BU2B towards the middle! I never would have thought that. It's really cool that Rush always tries new things
