Huge Hamilton, ON show plannig F/Up
LakesideMaiden replied to PriestOfSyrinx's topic in On The Lighted Stage
QUOTE (PriestOfSyrinx @ Mar 22 2011, 09:18 PM) ...For Geddy to push the show a few days later/earlier would not have been such a huge deal IMO... why is it that people conveniently forget that it's really not that easy to "push a show up a few days". Venues do have other events going on than Rush. Most venues have 2 sports teams, circuses, and other performance acts booked, and it's not so easy to change the date with the venue. Also, there's the tour logistics to take into account. Really, if they reschedule the date they have for Hamilton, most likely it would be much later in the tour and it makes more sense for them to play Hamilton around when they are playing Montreal, say, than it would be if it were around when they are playing Texas. It's also not "just" up to Geddy, or even all three of them. They really have no input where and when they play (just that their scheduled time off be around LA ) - their manager coordinates all the stops. -
QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Mar 24 2011, 12:44 AM) ...reading more about the red tape bullshit that keeps necessary supplies and assistance [much of it from the international community] from reaching those in serious need...f***ing typical Japanese government nonsense that always wants to file and count everything before getting it to the place it needs to be. This kind of thing happened some 15 years ago with the Hanshin earthquake that leveled Kobe and killed over 6000 people. Red tape kept supplies from getting to where it needed to be and many well-intentioned volunteers were turned down because the government thought there was enough help and that they might get in the way. Interestingly, the yakuza (yeah, those guys) were the ones that went in to those desperate areas [bypassing all the red tape because they don't give a shit] with their own trucks and supplies to assist those in need. When Canada sends thousands of blankets, Taiwan sends power generators, and Korea sends food, you get those goods to those people who need them right away. You don't put it in a warehouse first then take an anally-detailed inventory. Not everything needs to be filed in triplicate! omg yeah that's just f***ing ridiculous! right along with you, Johnny! >:(

as always my f'n job is what pissed me off today. walmart sucks. how is it that the biggest corporation in the world has to make cuts in hours for their employees - employees who are living paycheck to paycheck and can barely survive on what their making. I mean seriously. Walmart is certainly not hurting for money.

QUOTE (Arleen2112 @ Mar 23 2011, 02:43 PM) A friend of mine(whose 13 yr. old son has Autism) posted this on Facebook and I wanted to share it with you all -Blessed Are Those- I. Blessed are those who stop and listen to my chatter. You may not understand me; but I love when people talk to me, for I long for companionship, too. II. Blessed are those who take my hand and walk with me when the path is rough, for I easily stumble and grow weary. But thank you, too, for letting me walk alone when the path is smooth, for I must learn independence. III. Blessed are those who take the time to tell me about special happenings, for unless you make special effort to inform me, I remain ignorant. IV. Blessed are those who wait for me. I may be slow, but I appreciate your patience. V. Blessed are those who are not ashamed to be seen in public with me, for I did not choose to be born thus. It could have been you as well. VI. Blessed are those who do not pity me, for I don't want pity. All I want is understanding and respect for what I have learned as well. VII. Blessed are those who notice my accomplishments, small as they may seem to you. I must work long and hard to learn many of the things you take for granted. VIII. Blessed are those who include me in their games, even though I may not understand the rules, I still like to be included in your activities. IX. Blessed are those who think of me as a person who loves, and hurts, and feels joy and pain just like you do, for in that respect I am normal. Author Unknown beautiful!

QUOTE (nettiesaur @ Mar 18 2011, 06:58 PM) I got my littel autistic student to eat oranges yesterday. He was really thirsty and I told him they were juicy like water, and sweet. I didn't really think he'd try them, but he did, and ate both pieces that he had been served. His mom and I celebrated when she picked him up. Add one more fruit to the short list. awesome!!!

Oh wait, they do. They have an ad on Versus all the time. Apparently, they figure they can make headlines more each time another Canadien link writes something about the Chara incident. You keep on bashing Montreal! This article is about Canadian national companies who are sponsors of the NHL and their views on the subject. We get the fact that you hate Montreal but hate mongering does not benefit anyone! Also, check this out if Montreal is so Horrible! NHL Player's Poll The reason he brought this up is because both Via Rail and Air Canada are corporations based out of Montreal, and both of them are threatening to pull sponsorship because of this incident. Coincidence? -
We have some oddballs come into our store - but nothing like this, thankfully!

Favorite Chicken Breast recipes

Chicken Cordon Bleu Ingredients * 4 double chicken breasts (about 7-ounces each), skinless and boneless * Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper * 8 thin slices deli ham * 16 thin slices Swiss cheese * 1 tsp dijon mustard per breast * 2 cups (approx) chicken broth * 4 tbsp (approx) melted butter Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lay the chicken between 2 pieces of plastic wrap. Using the flat side of a meat mallet, gently pound the chicken to 1/4-inch thickness. Take care not to pound too hard because the meat may tear or create holes. Lay 2 slices of cheese on each breast, followed by 1 slice of ham, spread the 1 tsp dijon mustard over the ham, then lay the second slice of ham, then 2 more of cheese; leaving a 1/2-inch margin on all sides to help seal the roll. Tuck in the sides of the breast and roll up tight like a jellyroll. Squeeze the log gently to seal. Use toothpicks if necessary to hold the edges together. Place all in high sided baking dish, fill dish halfway up the sides of the breasts with chicken broth. Brush the tops of each breast with melted butter, salt and pepper the tops of each. Bake for 20 minutes until cooked through. Cut into pinwheels before serving. Not really horribly difficult, and amazingly tasty
