  1. QUOTE (Janie @ Mar 31 2011, 04:39 PM)Those shots were amazing! I'm getting so jazzed about the Seattle show. And still 3 months to go for those of us attending The Gorge (and Portland as well). Much, much too long.
  2. QUOTE (Wordy_McWordword @ Mar 30 2011, 10:37 PM)Great pictures. Glad you had a great time. The new axe of Alex's is real nice! I noticed Neil still has the headphones... Would seem to me that would indicate he may well go to headphones permanently since his infection no doubt healed months ago. If so, it would be a preventative measure I would presume. Or maybe he just likes the sound better with the phones?? GREAT PICS!!
  3. Red, but I'd LOVE to be wrong. . . . . Driven for Faithless!!
  4. QUOTE (HigherWater @ Mar 28 2011, 04:42 PM)QUOTE (hughes&kettner @ Mar 28 2011, 07:15 PM) QUOTE (HigherWater @ Mar 28 2011, 06:35 PM) They need to tell their customers WTF is going on. A reschedule with five days to spare is totally unacceptable and totally bush-league. I don't have a horse in this race, but damn, if I did I'd be pissed. For me and my family, holidays are scheduled around Rush concerts. How can they be going with, "unforseen circumstances?" rush doesn't owe anyone anything really. bush league? not really. personal issues are just that, and if that's the case no one around here will ever know why, cuz it's not our beeswax... and in a month few folks will care or even remember the moved dates... "bush league??" seriously? Seriously? Is that really the way you feel? Are you SO loyal that Rush or Rush's handlers can do no wrong? At $100 per seat, you're damn right they owe an explanation! At the very least, it's good business. Frankly, I'm getting a little tired of the, "Rush doesn't owe us anything" argument. While true, they don't 'owe' us anything--They should treat us with respect, and a short explanation beyond, "unforseen circumstances" is not too much to ask. Nor is a change or two in Time Machine setlist for that matter. I absolutely love Rush above and beyond all other bands. They have been a part of my life for 30 of my 41 years, but that doesn't mean I can't look at a situation objectively and say, "THIS IS BULL#$%!" And yes, it is Bush-League. Just like it was Bush-League when Guns and Roses used to cancel or, more recently, Kings of Leon. I wonder, has Maiden ever cancelled or postponed without any reason given? Springsteen? The Who? Grow a spine my friend. Don't let your heroes, no matter how awesome they may be, take advantage of you. If your ticket says April 1st, Rain or Shine than you have a reasonable expectation that you're going to get a show or at the very least, an explanation. Springsteen is notoriously late often....my gf saw him one time and he was 3 hours late. That's total bullshit and worse than a 5 day notice that Rush is moving 2 dates. As for The Who, Moonie was so f*cked up one time that he passed out and Pete had to ask if anyone in the audience knew how to play drums. Money hungry assholes played a "show" with some amatuer on drums rather than cancel cuz Moon was too wasted to play. Google it if you don't believe me. Agree with you about Buns and Posers......the absolute worst at being late (2 1/2 hours the one time I wasted money on Axel.....it was him really more than the other guys in the band).
  5. I also believe Geddy could still easily sing Fly By Night. Put me down as being down with a live performance of FBN!! My gf would love it too. It's her favorite Rush song.
  6. QUOTE (1974FAN @ Mar 25 2011, 10:05 AM)...........Personally, I can't wait until 2014 for the R40 Tour........... I have felt for some time that the R40 will be their swan song as a touring band, and what a way to cruise into retirement that will be.
  7. QUOTE (rummut71 @ Mar 24 2011, 06:45 AM) QUOTE (driventotheedge @ Mar 23 2011, 01:12 PM) I've got 3rd row, center for the Portland (actually Ridgefield, Washington just north of Portland) show 6/28 and want to take a LOT of pics. I am assuming that a standard digital camera will be acceptable (non-professional without attachable lenses). Any knowledgable feedback on this would be greatly appreciated!! Why don't you just take a FEW and actually watch and enjoy what is gonig on in front of you in real live 3D? Prediction: Your 399 photos will be looked at once, and then just take up space on your hard drive. I may well take that advice and only take a few though I can guarentee you if I did take "399 photos", they would be looked at more than one time. And if it says no cameras on the ticket, I won't likely try to even get one in since I'll stick out like a sore thumb in those seats (and being 6'7" tall on top of it).

  9. QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Mar 23 2011, 08:31 AM)i'll bet you a 12 pack there aren't going to be any changes. currently i'm drinking michelob ultra and i'd appreciate it if you included a beer koozie in the box. thanks Michelob Ultra? Shit man, you're letting him off easy. I drink IPAs, microbrews......like Broken Halo or Thunderhead, or Full Sail, etc., etc... . . . . If you live in the Northwest, you know what I mean.
  10. QUOTE (RodrigoAltaf @ Mar 22 2011, 06:53 AM)I just bought the cap, Neil's new book and a few other things. I like the running shirt they're selling, but the black colour makes it difficult - how am I supposed to run in Rio's excruciating heat with a black shirt? I wish they had one with the GuP cover on it... GUP shirt available here: http://www.rockabilia.com/product.php?productid=95291 Not $5 though. I have one like this but it's about shot so am likely to be ordering another since I'll be at the Gorge in early July and it's quite likely to be hot and sunny.
  11. QUOTE (Chicken hawk @ Mar 15 2011, 04:01 PM) What cancer?? He's talking about Dio....stomach cancer took his life a while back.
  12. Jann Wenner can suck my........ . . . . oh wait..........
  13. It ain't no HOF if Rush ain't in it!!
  14. And if you saw or heard the Zeppelin reunion show in '07 (many boots available) you know Robert Plant doesn't have nearly the range he did "back in the day". Hell, I saw Plant & Page in like '98 at the Hollywood Bowl and it was very apparent already at that point. Seen The Eagles lately? Frey's voice is not great anymore. Steven Tyler? Still pretty good but not as good as it used to be. Paul McCartney has his drummer sing the really high notes in his songs now (and I am an absolutely HUGE Beatles fan so not a criticism, just a fact). Ozzy? puhhhhhlease. If you haven't had a chance to see him on one of the first 5 stops on a tour in the last 25 years, his voice has been shit (again, BIG fan). It's why he plays here and there now rather than doing full blown tours. Ian Gillan? Nope. Dio before he died? Still good but some slippage. In fact, of all the male singers that are Geddy's contemporaries there's only one that, to my ears, still sounds as good as he did when he was a young man and that's Don Henley of The Eagles. He still sings at his young man full range and still has a really strong voice. There's a couple of other guys I've seen live within the last couple of years that are a half generation younger than Geddy that still are pretty amazing singers and they're Geoff Tate of Queensryche, Bruce Dickinson of Maiden and Halford of Priest. They are all still very strong from that half generation younger than Geddy crowd, but some or all of them may yet lose range and power. One thing I've found with singers is that it seems that women singers don't lose their range and power nearly as readily as men do (assuming no major abuse like long term smoking, heavy drinking, etc.) If you've seen Ann Wilson of Heart recently, you definitely know what I mean. Same goes for Pat Benetar. As you can see, I've given this subject a lot of thought and paid plenty of attention to all the singers 50+ years of age....hell, they're "my" bands as I'm 54 and grew up with all the classic rock bands. The thing is it really doesn't matter to me that Geddy can't hit those major high notes regularly anymore outside of the fact that we're unlikely to ever get to hear "Something For Nothing" or any of the other really high note songs again. To me, I think he still sounds good on the newer material which is no surprise since it's what fits him as a singer now. The older songs on which he strains are great to hear and musically still sound awesome. I long ago accepted that he's going to struggle a bit now and then on a few songs but that's part of the aging process. And let me tell you as a guy around his age, you aren't the same physically at 50-something as you were at 30-something. Lastly, there are people out there that actually like the newer Rush stuff better than the older because Geddy's voice isn't as high and "screechy" as it was in the old days. I know because I used to be married to a woman who had that opinion and other folks have expressed that to me as well. To each his own. I figure if you're into any era of Rush, it's a good thing.
  15. QUOTE (hughes&kettner @ Mar 10 2011, 09:50 PM)QUOTE (umoveme @ Mar 10 2011, 12:49 PM)I also heard that Neil will play the drums really well!!! Sarcastic voice: "thanks a lot, now i know what to expect..." Hope I'm not gonna completely ruin it for you, but I gotta tell you that Alex is really good on guitar and Geddy kicks butt on bass too. Sorry, I just had to.....
  16. QUOTE (Silas Lang @ Jan 5 2011, 11:06 AM)........... Permanent Waves - 1st press; Mint (found it SEALED almost ten years ago now...unfortunately my cat managed a minor scratch to the spine ) ........... Did the cat live to tell about it?
  17. When I bought my Harley 2 years ago, I decided to take my first long vacation ride in August. I decided to ride to Reno, stay at a casino resort there, ride all the way around lake Tahoe one day while down there, then ride up to Spokane to vist family and finally back home to Vancouver, WA. I have 2 different trip meters on the bike and I used one to compute gas milage with each fill up and the other I set to zero when I left my house to see how many miles I rode for the entire trip. When I got back home and checked that meter I was most pleased to see that I had ridden 2112 miles total on the trip. Here's a pic of the bike at the top of the Mt. Rose highway between Reno and Lake Tahoe. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l225/hoser98629/August24RoadKingatthesummitofMtRosehighway.jpg

  19. QUOTE (jonboy71 @ Feb 22 2011, 02:52 PM) Has anyone received their musictoday presale tickets? I have not and last time I got tix through them (S&A Live tour) they didn't come until about a month before the show. In fact I happened to call them about 2 days before they actually sent them as I was getting a bit worried. I'm hoping the wait isn't as long this time. I'm 3rd row center in Portland and am DYING to have those tix in my hands. If anyone has received their musictoday tix, please let us know.
  20. QUOTE (Bastille Dave @ Feb 19 2011, 09:47 PM)QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Feb 19 2011, 01:33 PM) Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Spirit of Radio, Freewill, Fly By Night, and Working Man is about it. these and also Closer To The Heart and Subdivisions. Same 6 or 7, never any variation. Just once I'd like to hear something else like possibly The Trees or Analog Kid. These same ones for KGON in Portland, OR (both posts). Sure would like to hear some other stuff but then holds true for most classic rock stations in most markets. For example, Sweet Home Alabama is maybe THE most overplayed song in classic rock radio yet there are plenty of excellent Skynyrd songs that never get airplay.....e.g. On The Hunt.
  21. QUOTE (Rushchick10 @ Feb 20 2011, 05:51 AM)QUOTE (driventotheedge @ Feb 19 2011, 05:36 PM) Portland's selling really, really well. The lower level is completely full (when searching for 2 tix) and the 2nd level has only seats clear on the outer edges available. Way to represent Oregon and S.W. Washington!! Dammit! I haven't been able to buy my tickets yet! Oh well, I have excellent tickets for the other shows I am seeing. Just looked again today Rushchick10. A bit better than the last time I looked......middle of the outermost upper reserved section rather than clear to the side of the outermost upper reserved section. Still well to the edge though. It appears that they are moving up the rows before going from inside out so I think that if you get one clear to the very edge and wait a day or two you'll get moved in just a bit. I also re-searched and tried specifying "center seating" under "additional" and there was nothing. Sorry you'll be toward one of the edges. Guess we're just kicking ass here!! Also, might want to act fairly soon if you don't want to be on the lawn.
  22. I feel your pain man. I'm sure those 2 whole rows in front of me in Portland on 6/28 will be a major inconvenience. Good thing I'm dead center or it might not even be worth the hassle of attending.
