Lorraine
I should have listened to them, but I thought it would push me over the edge. Well, I made it just the same.
Lorraine
God, that is a great song and performance. It's commonplace (seemingly anyway) to underrate or marginalize this period of the band but I still love it. Every Rush decade is unique in its own way. The eighties is especially so, to me at least.

Don't waste your energy on a "should". I remember after a close friend's death, I couldn't listen to Genesis for almost 6 months. (He and I were in a Genesis tribute band together). I wanted to listen but I stayed away.. too many emotions. We go as we go, you know? :)

EagleMoon
It took me a longggg time to appreciate this era of the band but now I love it. Great songs.

Lorraine
Three older gentlemen shred: http://youtu.be/sI5VuBzo-Qc I love that song and i love that part. The BEST (to me at least) is the one from the R40 LA show. I think I posted it already in this thread.

Geddy says it's his favourite to play live and you can really tell, he does things on that bass guitar that shouldn't be allowed, especially at his age! And he's still improving at it, which is miraculous

Lorraine
Three older gentlemen shred: http://youtu.be/sI5VuBzo-Qc Look at that old man go on that guitar!!! :) :codger: Actually, he was still in his fifties during that tour. Not that old yet. ;) If I'm honest, I would have to say that one is better than the R40 LA one. Edited May 9, 2017 by Lorraine

It must have been incredible. But I would have fallen apart when it was over. Especially since that meant that this time, it really was all over for good. It wasn't just the end of a tour. It was the end of Rush. Edited May 9, 2017 by Lorraine

It was the end of Rush. Yes... I was at the last 2 shows... Irvine and LA. It was very emotional for a lot of reasons.. My marriage had ended, tickets had been bought prior to that happening. So, in addition to watching one of my all time favorite bands play their last shows, I was going through all kinds of other grieving. My ex had already moved out of state by the time the shows happened. Edited May 9, 2017 by Mystic Slipperman
