cooheed2112
Of all the iconic guitars in music the Hentor Sportscaster was, for me ,the one to have. Back in the 80s this was all I ever wanted to have.......the guitar that helped create that sound. Over the years i've put together a few but with restricted funds I couldn't go all out on spec, until now. I have finally built that guitar and the results have been amazing ......it really nails that GUP tone, amongst others. Spec includes dense ash body in Olympic white, ebony fingerboard neck with stainless frets, locking tuners, Fender custom shop single coils, orginal 80s Bill Lawrence L500L, the Hentor logo. The only departure from the original Hentor was my choice of a Wilkinson trem, and although I had sourced Floyd NFT, I decided on the Wilkinson purely for string break reasons......I hate cutting off ball ends....especially mid gig!!Hope you like the pics. PS usually played through a Digitech gsp1101, sounds amazing.http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww228/cooheed2112/18892489645_ebb1630fcf_z_zpsgvexdssv.jpghttp://i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww228/cooheed2112/18909524972_7026de3492_z_zpsguwvwdwe.jpghttp://i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww228/cooheed2112/18732907709_b823344f53_z_zpsdaxo4hyx.jpghttp://i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww228/cooheed2112/18731375830_d0cdbbd55a_z_zpsgdl6aakt.jpghttp://i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww228/cooheed2112/18296758874_edbea51ff7_z_zpsbuidydyh.jpghttp://i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww228/cooheed2112/18917657751_42166a13f6_z_zpsiossywcy.jpghttp://i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww228/cooheed2112/18914766275_08fe90cd8d_z_zpsqc0fvbx3.jpg

cooheed2112
Thanks Tony, as in my previous posts you can tell i'm a bit useless at web stuff!!LOL Haven't ventured into Youtube uploading either! My recording is all hardware based too as I prefer the hands-on approach over computer based recording, but i'm sure I'll figure out something. Have recorded Red Sector and Limelight solos and they sound very close.
cooheed2112
Tremolo post holes were a bit of a nightmare as they had to be done on the finished body and I REALLY did not want to damage the finish. Worked out great though

cooheed2112
ok here it is, sorry for any sound issues but I recorded this direct to computer via a Behringer Vamp Pro over a midi file Other than reverb added to the backing track, no other effect was added and it is one take but hopefully you can hear the Hentor GUP sound a little harsh perhaps but no editing of any kind was done. I have a Digitech gsp1101 ,but folks, these Behringer units are pretty good!! £30GBP!!!second hand! your comments are REALLY appreciated .....good or bad!  https://soundcloud.com/user661891173/red-sector-a-solo-with-new-hentor

cooheed2112
Thanks Tony, thanks LostFurther tone shaping,I believe, would really capture "that" guitar sound. Most likely a Lexicon modulated reverb/delay.I CANNOT overstate how pleased I am with this guitar....the building blocks are there. Back in the the day Alex's guitar would've had much processing both during recording and mastering. The quality lexicon pcm reverb delays add a nuance to tail notes prominent in this album's guitar tonesI'm almost there and will post updates on the sound. Limelight sounds Great .... Thing is.....you have to invent the music...and tone!

Mr. JD
I like to have one of these in a hardtail version.
cooheed2112
I don't think a hardtail would have "that" sound and the term is indispensable for most of the 80s stuff. Worth a go though Thanks 2112 too! This is by far my favourite guitar, can't recommend building one of these more.
TFEman
I like to have one of these in a hardtail version.Well freddy (most people know who I'm talking about) sells replicas of these that are around $2000. He had the original Hentor to replicate it as accurately as possible. If you really wanted to have one, you could buy one from him and then put a trem blocker in. Plus if you don't like a hardtail, you an remove the blocker.
TFEman
Also I am making a replica of the red strat Alex used during the 80's, but that's not important. What is important is that I bought a l500l for $55 on ebay and it came in the packaging you would have bought the pickup in back in the day. It's ridiculous how good it is quality-wise. I put pics on the replica thread, and here is the link to the pickup:Â http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-BILL-LAWRENCE-USA-L500L-Lead-Bridge-Humbucker-Pickup-CREME-/371327839785?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5674dd2e29
cooheed2112
Mmmm seems this pickup is the recent Bill Lawrence USA ,not quite the same as an original Bill 80s l500.These BL USA will be a bit more harsh sounding. You can find original 80s models on eBay every so often. Usually quite expensiveHere's one eBay item 231604107137
