I really wish I was a bigger fan of Mercurys voice because the rest of the band is faultlessly entertaining. I read an article about Bohemian Rhaposidy and the effort that went into it. Then I realised that bombastic rock like Queen lead in time to bands like Nightwish and others...bombast and classical pomp and theatricality...I suddenly sort of liked the song. I actually can't listen to Styx much anymore...I used to like them a lot but his voice grew off me fast! Kansas and Starcastle over Styx any day! Back in the day, like the late 70's/early 80's, metal fans and hard rock fans I knew used to mention Styx as a top band, especially the Pieces of Eight album. So I investigated and right away I didn't like their sound. Before I heard them, looking through their album covers in various record shops of the day, though they looked like a band I should like.
