The Analog Cub
One of my favorite photos of the trip, my frustration at Rush not performing at the Colesseum when I was there.

The Analog Cub
Our final day in Rome was back in the Vatican so we could do the shit we couldn't do on Easter Sunday, like enter the Basilica and the Sistine Chapel:
The Analog Cub
The next day we were in Florence. This town wasn't nearly as great as Rome. Very unfriendly towards visitors in that it costs a fuckton of money to do anything, and if you're like me and you're not into artsy fartsy museums, you might find yourself a little bored after a while. That being said, here's some photos from the two days we were there.
The Analog Cub
After Florence, we went to Barcelona, and it was fantastic. Here's stuff from the first full day: Churros and chocolate: Ah, the infamous Windows 7 BSOD hits the Barcelona metro. How excellent :laughing guy:

The Analog Cub
Tapas! Calamari rings, potatoes bravas, and Spanish omelette. Once you scraped off that abomination called mayonnaise, the potatoes were good. And of course, seafood paella!

sundog
What an incredible adventure! The pics are fun! :DThanks for sharing I am trying to encourage my kids to take the opportunity to travel when they can with their groups. They'll make memories that last a lifetime. *edit to add, we take them on trips when ever we can - it's time that is completely invaluable. Monetary value not withstanding.Experience and Memory building the most important draw from traveling. The world is large and we cannot become blinded by our own little corner being all that there is to experience. The Analog Cub
3 weeks6 citiesWind, rain, sunburn I lost 8 pounds that I needed to keep, and a pants size. I stopped wearing jeans for the final week of the trip, and when I put them back on in the UK they were all too big. This is NOT GOOD. I'm down to 124 pounds, which is not healthy for me. Time to bulk back up...can't wait to get back to America and eat all things glorious again. Also, never going another day without shaving if I can help it. This is 3 weeks and I have no glorious beard to show for it. Never liked facial hair anyway.
The Analog Cub
The trip was one of the best experiences of my life, and I cannot stress enough how important it is in my rather short life. I experienced a lot of things I loved, and a lot of things I didn't like, and I believe that everyone with the stomach should try a backpacking trip once in their lifetime. This was very educational and eye opening, and someday I hope to come back to some of these places. Now that it's over, I'm glad to settle down for a bit. I don't have exams until the final few days of May and first couple in June, so I have another month to kill in the UK. Will take a smaller trip to Scotland in the coming weeks. Munich > Barcelona > Paris > Rome > Amsterdam >>>>>>>>>> Florence. The stop in Germany was very important to me due to my heritage. My maternal great-great-grandfather was an immigrant from a Bavarian village, and my grandpa, who with my grandma travels A LOT, have never made it over to Europe. I owed Germany to my grandpa, and he hasn't seen the photos yet, but will when he gets back from his own vacation in Mexico. Thankfully, longevity appears to be in his favor and at age 68 he's as fit as he was 20 years ago apart from a pacemaker, so it's possible the sought after trip to Germany will be his in the near future. The city, castles, history were great, and the food and beer were the best I've had since I went abroad in January. (All of the food is better than the food in Britain, but you didn't need me to tell you that) Barcelona is a close runner-up. Warm weather, a (fake) beach, outdoorsy stuff, an awesome city spirit, and amazing food. Paris and Amsterdam were also great, with lots of stuff to do. Rome had LOTS to do and plenty of great sights to see, but along with Florence, Italy just seems very unfriendly towards visitors from my experience. Definitely glad I went to Rome, though. Florence was the Roll The Bones of this trip. Some neat stuff to see (if you felt like spending a fortune for some art), but came off as extremely pretentious and didn't have nearly as much going on. That and I think the sewers aren't kept well, cause the entire city smelled rank. At the request of my dad, I paid a little closer attention to lyrics for once. I made sure I listened to this every time we traveled between cities. http://youtu.be/jz1CdqmBC4A
