Is Rush heavy metal?

I will paraphrase Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart's famous quote about pornography, "I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of material I understand to be embraced within that shorthand description ["Heavy Metal"]; and perhaps I could never succeed in intelligibly doing so. But I know it when I see it, and the band involved in this case ["Rush"] is not that."

I've seen some lists that claim that Rush is heavy metal. What do you think?

 

I wouldnt say so. I would say "hard rock" with part of their collection being progressive, or at least progressive-like.
