ColdFireYYZ Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 No shortage of awesomeness here, eh? I pre-ordered my copy today...couldn´t resist!I was going to wait until the regular release but I was so excited about this I just had to pre-order it.
treeduck Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 No guitarist... :(Minnemann is playing guitar in addition to drums. He can play a little bit but not on the same level as his virtuoso pals can play bass and keys and him drums.. I´ve never heard him play...but if you´re putting on a project like that, why not getting a proper guitar player?Exactly, seems like self-indulgence to me.Saying that it's self indulgent not to have a guitarist would be like saying The Aristocrats (for example) are self indulgent since they don't have a keyboardist. There's no rule that says that all bands must have a guitarist. That's not what was meant. I didn't say having or not having a guitarist was self indulgent, or having or not having a keyboard player was self indulgent. I was meaning it is self indulgent of the drummer to think he can be the guitarist of the band when there are clearly hundreds of better candidates who are actually guitarists.
treeduck Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 And my original point was, I just prefer a guitarist in my prog/fusion bands, whether or not a keyboard player or horn player is present. That's just me though...

That's just me though...To his their own. I kind of like the fact that there's no guitarist, but I like a lot of bands that don't have guitarists. So at the end of the day it all comes down to personal preference. And sorry, I completely missed your point on the self-indulgence thing. I get what your saying now.
