Paul Simon has so many great songs, one for every mood it seems. He created such fantastic music with Art Garfunkel and on his own. What Paul Simon lyric is hitting you at the moment?

She gets down on her knees and hugs me

Oh she hugs me like a rock!

She rocks me like the rock of ages...

Paul Simon is my favorite lyricist- he speaks so clearly and sincerely in so few words.

And I dreamed I was dying...

I dreamt that my soul rose unexpectedly

and looking back down at me

Smiled re-assuredly

He gives such insightful observations and musings. That's why a thread had to be made. "Feeling' Groovy"...living in the moment—60's style.

I adore Paul Simon. His talent is profound and I think he is one of the great American songwriters. I literally played Graceland non-stop for 6 months when it came out. I could not get over the sounds! Then, I discovered his catalog and became an enormous fan.

 Paul Simon

Great thread, TM! :cheerleader:

Here's my contribution. And some finger style playing, too. This song still makes me cry.

Thank you, TM

Great stuff...7 to 7:30 pm is our wind down time. My nightly picks vary but Simon is a regular. My children love "Me and Julio down by the schoolyard". Really they never complain when i play Paul Simon, or The Police. Such giftedness...lather what praise you can on this artist.

ok! I am supposed to be working but i really can't resist posting here!

Lyrics all from memory, so there might be some errors...

The shadows on the wall casts an image dark and small

But I'm not sure at all it's my reflection...

I'm blinded by the light,

of god and truth and right

yet I wonder in the night with out direction..

funny...I took the boys to see the latest muppet movie (which is fantastic) "Me and Julio" was included in the opening montage. What a treat to hear a 7 and 4 year old try to sing that song...priceless.

lol- that is awesome! My daughter just got into listening to Scarborough Fair at least. But she tends to *not* get into my music, and prefers hip hop or electronic dance music. sigh.....

CG, the opening lyrics to your first osted song immediately came to me:

One and one-half wandering Jews

Free to wander wherever they choose

Are travelling together

In the Sangre de Cristo

The Blood of Christ Mountains

Of New Mexico

On the last leg of the journey

They started a long time ago

Beautiful!

She said.. why don't you love me for who I am, where I am....

I had tickets to see S&G in Houston, August 1983. The concert was cancelled, because of hurricane Alicia, then the news came out that Paul also took this as a break to run off to get married to Carrie Fisher.
