2112 Relationship with Clockwork Angels

Now this may just be a red herring and pointless, but I've read the novel, seen the live show, and come across interesting similarities with 2112. I don't know whether this was on purpose or not, but on the tourbook and in the novel, it says the "The Watchmaker EST.MMCXI (2112)." Now does this mean that this story is a sequel to 2112? In the book it does say something like the watchmaker took control after the world was taken over by chaos and war. Or maybe it's just a parallel universe with the same basic conflicts? What does everyone think?

I just took it as more Rush references. I try not to read too far into the stuff they do...

They have been doing that for years. I always like looking for the references on the albums to the ones from the past.

While I initially thought it a fun reference, I think there could be some substance to this. Whether it's intentional is dubious, but it's an interesting take on it... That would probably lend some credence to the idea that they're doing an immense fan service for what could possibly be the last album though
