I have a Canon SX20IS. That's the most powerful camera I have that is allowed at a concert. It's not bad. It records video in 720p HD. The vids came out great...I wish I would have done more, but I wanted to enjoy the show - and not through an LCD display. LOL

If only I could get my pro cameras in...that would be a TREAT!

You are obviously a very skilled photographer... those are some serious pictures and video. I've been working in television for 12 years and I can tell that you know what the hell you're doing. Nice!

Humbled by your complement, thank you!

I was raised by a photographer/videographer/marketing specialist, so a little has trickled in. wink.gif Had the bug bitten me before marriage and children...being a concert photographer would be an absolute dream.

Those silly rules make folks like us itching to just go all pro at a concert, no? LOL

I'm looking at getting a nice camera for the shows that I will be going to. My fiance mentioned I can have one as long as it doesn't have a removable lens. Does this sound right to you guys?

Yep! The PowerShot series by Canon that look like cameras (not the pocket camera) are usually the best bet...because they lack the delay. They are pretty much an instant shutter, which means you can get better shots because you'll get what you intended to get and not what was captured a second later.

Yes....that is correct. I have a Sony cybershot (14x zoom) that takes really nice pics. I will post some later. It has a manual setting that works very well for concert pics. Here are 2 pics (of about 300 from 2 shows)I took from the last tour.....

Amy, just registered here to say THANK YOU for your fantastic vids! I have to wait until June 2013 to see RUSH live here in Europe and these vids are a great appetizer!

And finally I can hear what the string section is actually doing. Could not find any YouTube-clips with such a good audio quality before.

Amy,

It is a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55

Probably the best lil point and shoot that I have ever owned. I love it for concerts because it is compact enough to fit in front pocket and powerful enough to get decent pics from anywhere.

Glad you like the pics. I have to sort through about 143 that I took from the show.

Yep, I love my Canon PowerShot for that very reason. I had bought one of those Nikon pocket cameras on sale and it went back the next day. I could not stand shutter lag. I ponied up the dough ($400) to get my PowerShot and never looked back. This was the first time I have ever used it for video. I kind of wish I had tried it out before I bought my FlipVideo camera (I do love it, though and got it for $80).

If only I could sneak in my arsenal...heheheh...Canon 5D and pro glass that range from 17mm to 200mm. *sigh* I'll just have to enjoy what the band posts on their website.
