ColdFireYYZ, I hope my parents will let me go too...

Course I don't know who'd take me, it's 10 hours away. sad.gif

And if VdGG is playing some more US dates, that'd be really awesome. Any official announcements?

The only official announcement was on Sofasound.com (Hammill's official website) last month.

Checked it out, hope there is definitely something, from what I hear, they are one of the few 70s bands still worth seeing.

Too bad David Jackson wasn't with them anymore. I've heard that they're still great without him though. I want to see them before its too late.

yes.gif

They're my absolute favorite band with rush and genesis.

I don't hold them quite that high, but I definitely want to see them.

Also, Anglagard. biggrin.gif And Renaissance. 1022.gif

Oh, and Eloy, too.

Been listening to all 3 on Grooveshark today. 1022.gif :B

Eloy 062802puke_prv.gif

I have Ocean and I tried to like it. One listen was enough. Maybe I need to give it a second chance.

Man, I've tried to get into Eloy. Their album covers are mindblowingly awesome. Unfortunately, the vocals kill what otherwise would be great music. For a similar vibe, though done SO much better, try Nektar. yes.gif

Yeah the vocals just killed it for me.

Nektar is a great band. Remember The Future is the only album that I have by them and its great. It was actually one of the first prog albums that I listened to.

Oh man, then you NEED to get:

A Tab in the Ocean

Journey to the Center of the Eye

Both are truly excellent albums. Recycled is also well worth getting.

There are so many prog albums that I still need to get! I'll look for those albums. I'm sure I can get them pretty cheap used.

In progressive rock vocals are wasted time among medleys, as i read in some place, with some exceptions of course. Vocals have never bother me, and just to prove it, im gonna get Ocean right now, i didnt know Eloy existed until now, so it maybe will worth the effort.

Anyone else decide whether or not they were going? confused13.gif

When is it again? I'm gonna ask tonight.

Its June 22nd - 24th but tickets go on sale on March 3rd at 10 am EST. Since its the last year of the festival it'll probably be sold out.

There's probably a 50% chance that I'll be there. Still need to work it out with my parents.

Cool. If someone else I know is going, there is a much better chance my parents will let me go.

I'm listening to Anglagard's Hybris right now, and I just read on the NEARfest website that they'll be playing that album in its entirety! I really hope I can go.

yes.gif Great album. Really impressed me.

High school doesn't even matter anymore, I got accepted to my college of choice.

Well also I'm already going to Steven Wilson and that may have something to do with it.

Was at an all-day event today, so I told my mom to try to log in right at 10.

She tried at 11:15, no surprise when none were available.

confused13.gif

Sorry to hear that. sad.gif I'm surprised that it sold out so quickly.

(edit): Maybe some will show up on Ebay or they'll release some more tickets prior to the show. They're selling Friday only tickets next week, so maybe you can call the venue to see if there's any more 3-day bundles left.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'll get some either through the website or through the waiting list at the venue. Good point about ebay, though.

The view should still be very good...its a small theater.

Have you listened to Gosta Berlings Saga yet? Their album Glue Works is worth checking out. Also, Il Tempio Delle Clessidre's debut (and only album) is very good as well.
