Jerry Leiber Dies

Jerry Leiber, one half of the songwriting team of Leiber and Stoller, has died at 78. He is best know for composing great songs such as "Hound Dog" "Jailhouse Rock", "Yakity Yak" "love Potion #9' among other.

 

Rock and Roll Heaven enshrines another mortal....RIP Jerry!

Sad, and Mr. Ashford too. Two mighty songwriters.

 

And still, still, seemingly immortal and impervious to all weaponry, Jon Bon Jovi continues to walk amongst us, cocking a snook at the Grim Reaper with every flash of his oh-so-white teeth. The prick.

A great early R-n-R song writer in Leiber who helped pave the way for rock-n-roll as we know it.

 

Ashford too. He wrote one of my all time fave guilty pleasure songs in Bourgie, Bourgie. He had some fantastic Motown, R&B and disco productions.

 

If this doesn't ooze 70's shmaltz, nothing does.
