Lost In Xanadu
Anger got bare knuckles Anger play the fool Anger wear a crown of thorns Reverse the golden rule This chunk of the song always gets me thinking of its meaning - and I often think it means different things. Just wondering what others think these lines mean.

Principled Man
We're allegedly taught the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." When we're little kids, parents and other grown-ups tell us that we should always practice the Golden Rule. But then we grow older, and we see that the Golden Rule is not practiced all that often. We see the opposite. In our own homes, in school, at work, out on the street, we see the anger, the mistrust, the fighting, the bruises, the misery, the lies, the bullying, the suffering..... ....and too often, we take part in it. We repeat it. We continue the hypocrisy of reversing the Golden Rule.
go2wrk@95974
the 1st part: I think this means, that anger can get you into some serious trouble, depending on the situation. (if your strong, you'll get out of it unscathed.. If not, you could get your ass kicked!) When we're angry, sometimes we take/make irrational actions/choices/ that can have a very adverse effect on our lives, and can effect other people, sometimes without even being aware of it... or we might be aware of it, and we just don't give a crap.((my dad was like that.He had alot of Irish and Indian in his blood..and was military/ a war vet. Plus he was a SERIOUS boozer.)) Thats what I get from the 1st two lines. the 2nd part : I think this means that anger is sometimes very justified, again, depending on the situation. Rightious indignation is one form of anger that is usually acceptable at a high percentage rate. I think thats what the 3rd line means. I think the 4th line means that when we're angry, we become the opposite of a decent human being. We let our anger get the best of us...in other words: think before you explode in anger, and do something you might regret later on...step back, take a deep breath---then rationalize..then find a better way to a more positive conclusion. That's what I get out of that verse... Awesome tune ,btw. (Sorry for this out control half-rant/whatcha-ma- call it.... Dang, geno..didn't realize it was a mile long!)
