Pags
Few are sader songs. There are not many lyricists who can capture the emotion and desperation I feel for these two people in the song. It's truly tragic, yet inescapable. A brilliant song, imo. Discuss

Slaine mac Roth
Losing It is one of my favurite songs from Signals. The structure of the song is brilliant and it features some of Neil's most heart-rending lyrics. Fantastic
physics23
This is one of those songs that is just too short. It's so beautiful, why not make it a little longer?
Arndrake
I have to agree with the beauty and pathos of the lyrics. However, even though the electric violin is supposed to add to that pathos, I find it to be distracting and a bit irritating.
anagramking
<<The writer stares with glassy eyes - Defies the empty page His beard is white, his face is lined And streaked with tears of rage. Thirty years ago, how the words would flow With passion and precision, But now his mind is dark and dulled By sickness and indecision And he stares out the kitchen door Where the sun will rise no more... Some are born to move the world - To live their fantasies But most of us just dream about The things we'd like to be Sadder still to watch it die Than never to have known it For you - the blind who once could see - The bell tolls for thee...>> This part must be about Hemingway. I'm not sure if he had anybody in mind specifically with the other character in the song. Very beautifully done song, indeed.

I've always found this song rather moving, but I have to admit that the overall message leaves me a little confused. It's so pessimistic/fatalistic--mourning for lost talent or skill? It's a part of aging--it happens to everyone. Why the grieving?
sfuentes
Killer song. One of their deepest and most melancholy songs. I must say that the lyrics are capturing, and arguably Neil's best. It would be interesting to see how the boys play it live.
