Good Beer in Las Vegas???

Okay, TRF'ers, I will be heading out tomorrow to Vegas for the week... don't get too excited, as it's a business related trip... but, there's no reason I can't partake of some good beer while I am out there! wink.gif

Any good microbrews to be had in Vegas? Where are some good spots to partake of a good brew there on tap? trink38.gif

I mainly drinke Stouts and Porters, but would be willing to try something a little lighter also, if it's good... wink.gif

Hopefully, there are some members in the Vegas area that can recommend some good microbrew - there has to be more choices for good beer in Vegas, than I have here back home in Mississippi! laugh.gif Impress me! biggrin.gif

I eagerly await your suggestions / recommendations... trink39.gif

Here's a couple more for your consideration..

Both downtown, Main Street Casino Hotel (just off Fremont Avenue) have there own microbrew sampled there Red ale real good.

Chicago Brewing Company inside 4 Queens Hotel Casino(Fremont Avenue) small corner restauraunt deep dish "Chicago" pizza and there own micro specialty brew. Note selection is limited, they have a main brewhouse with a larger variety of beer and food eight miles off the strip on South Fort Apache Road. Went to web site looks like a nice place had there stout at 4 Queens excellent. trink38.gif

I think there is a brew pub in the New York, New York.

I know it's not beer, but check out the Red Square in Mandalay Bay. It's a vodka bar with a solid ice bar. Your drink never gets warm!!!!

Solid ice bar?! ohmy.gif I need to check that out!

When drinking liquor, vodka is definitely the liquor of choice for me... thanks for the suggestion! Lemon drops, anyone?! trink38.gif

I am just resting up in the hotel room tonight (flew in yesterday evening)... but, at least now, I know where to go, once I venture out... thanks all! trink39.gif

yes.gif Forgot all about it! We stayed at NY,NY last month." Pour 24 " had a few there, Unique selection I highly recommend. Although they try to come across as trendy and snobish(beer menu in a silver metal ring notebook) eyesre4.gif It's a brewpub overlooking the casino on the second floor.

Disappointed Monte Carlo use to have it's own microbrew pub, deceived when we dropped by this year, still have signs saying there a micro brewery. BUT waitress told us they quit making beer several years ago angry.gif Still have a good selection of imports had a Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout.

Thanks for this mention, guys. We'll be going to Vegas in a few weeks, so I will keep this one in mind if we got down to that casino. My wife has a foodie trek planned out for us (yes, it really is possible to have fun there without gambling, who knew?), so I don't know if we'll make it or not. I will post on this place if we make it there, certainly.

If you're going for the food, the Paris had the best buffet!

And the last couple of times I was in Vegas with my wife, we hardly gambled. Its fun to go and see a couple of shows and people watch!

I didn't try the Paris for the buffet last time, but I did have a crepe there that I remember liking a lot. I liked the Bellagio buffet a lot. I'm not sure how many buffets we will do. I'm sure we will do a few because my in-laws love the buffets in Vegas. (My father-in-law's advice for buffets is to not eat the bread, as it only serves to fill you up and take away from the other stuff they have going on at a buffet.) Another one I want to try is the Wynn. My wife knows who all the big chefs are, so she wants to try a bunch of places that we normally wouldn't get to try, otherwise. We'll never forget Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill (at Caesar's) the last time we went.

Okay, I went to the Yard House tonight... it was a great experience! Thanks for the suggestion, Mr. Mojo Risin'!

The beers I had tonight (in order of consumption):

Deschutes Black Butte Porter (my second most favorite, this night)

Anderson Valley Oatmeal Stout

Young's Chocolate Stout (the best, by far tonight, per my tastes!) trink38.gif

North Coast Old Rasputin Stout

Rogue Shakespeare Stout

Thanks again for all the suggestions! I think I will be trying the Chicago Brewing Company next! trink39.gif

No problem!

Deschutes has many styles and along with Old Rasputin, they are pretty widely distributed on the west coast. Both good though.

Chicago Brewing is pretty good, the food is good too.

And I just laughed and shook my head about 4 times at all the other touristy stuff people mentioned. Buffets? no.gif

My wife isn't so big on the buffets, either. It is my in-laws' 50th, so we'll be going to one or two, regardless. The celebrity chef restaurants are fun, though, even if they might be a bit touristy. Unlike in NYC, you don't have to call 6 months in advance to get a table. In the case of Rao's, there is no chance of getting a table in NYC, period. I'd rather spend the money eating well than losing it at a blackjack table while inhaling everyone else's smoke (or are they finally getting more smoke free tables these days?).

Hey I agree with you, I get more satifaction dining and drinking a good brew then watching my money whittle away on the slots.( but i do so never the less! tongue.gif )

Eating at Vegas is hit or miss, Bellagio buffet was fantastic and we shelled out a little more our last night and got room service at New York, New York had to be at airport 3:30 a.m. made it early night. And it was really good. Went to a Tex-Mex chain restraunt called Diablo horrible and a massive expensive rip off. You really have to do some research a head of time to find the good stuff.

Gordon Beirsch is a good place to drink. Ellis Island casino has their own brewery with 14oz. tap beers for 1.00 apiece.

No, tongue.gif this is a little casino on the corner of Flamingo and Koval about one block south of Bally's and Paris. Just go east on Flamingo from the strip and take a right on Koval. It's on your left though, once you turn on Koval, so turning in can be tricky. They also have a pretty good restaurant there. I reccomend the steak dinner. It's not on the menu, so you have to ask for it, but it's a good deal. You get a 8oz steak, salad, green beans, and your choice of potato for only $6.00!
